    MY DIY Tank!!

Best of Luck Alvy, A gentle reminder to make sure your joint between glass panel have equal spacing, I believe glass of 15mm above will have less than 5mm of thick silicone between the glass @ joint. PET
  3. I got my friend who work nearby to check it out and it turn out to be an empty search. The owner says that he has no idea of making any these aquarium chiller !!!! PET

    MY DIY Tank!!

Hi Alvy, I'm curious to find out the thickness of silicone that goes between the glass at the joints, especially at the 4 corners adjacent to the base. I believe different glass thickness and size require different silicone thickness. BTW the black silicone is not recommended for longterm use, especially for big tanks clear type is prefer??? Would like to hear your view. Thanks, PET
  5. Wonder if any of you have come across drop-in type chiller locally? It seems that it's a trend oversea to do away with the pumping work and install a titanium coil drop-in type chiller. Any comments on the performances? Thanks, PET
  6. Hi Guys, Any update from the DIY chiller, it;s efficiency and also power consumption$$?? Thanks, PET
  7. I'll try not screw up someone's business, but the real fact is that all or most LFS have their supply come from the same source. Just observe...when one LFS has the specific coral, most LFS has it as well. It's individual shopkeeper's business style that set the price. The middle man in Bali, philippine or even ORCA Pacific, sells to these LFS the same price and flight charges will be equal! The final price depends on the survival rate of the life_stock. I personally feel that CoralFarm demands respect in this aspect, as they have good discount + fix pricing = good business ethnic. The rest of the LFS, simply price on site, that's as they wish; the same product will be different price to different buyer. A word of advise if you think coral farm has bad service....with that type of setup, how many hundred Kilos of coral U need to purchase to demand service? Good time to wake up......... Regards, Pet
  8. Hi DragonGoby, do you mena the Alteco or Selleys? My Alteco seems OK using it underwater, except for curing period of at 2~3hrs. PET
  9. Yazid, from my experience on 2 similar incident, I would recommend that you place a piece of THICKwhite foam or THICK soft black rubber mat under your sump. The uneven weight distribution cause the crack- > it still happen even with 8mm glass, unless you going for 15mm!-> greater tolerance but burnt $$$$$$$. From your glass crack point, I'm 100% sure that's the main problem. If you do not believe, borrow a construction type balancing ruler and place it flat on your cabinet base, you will notice not it is not competely flat. I collect my house recently and I realised that the damn floor of the HDB is not completely flat. Talk about quality of HDB...damn. Regards, Pet
  10. HI UFO, Can you reserve for me, will collect on the coming Monday from Sembawang MRT. PLse SMS me @ 9755-7784 to confirm. Thanks, PET
  11. HI guys, haven;t got the time to read thru the manual. But on the outside, it stated 2 and max 3 hrs to be cure for use. Max strength is 24 hrs and after. So do not move the part or whatever you have paste with. Have not use it since waiting for my new tank to arrive. BTW the attached picture is the small tube. I got the half KG(500g) type. HDB use it to glue pipe leakages....I don't any Singaporean dead? It's the same with Wessbond in terms of application and BEST OF ALL...IT IS MADE IN SINGAPORE!
  12. Thanks for advise, give it a try and see how it goes. Pet
  13. Guess I miss out the important detail. There is this red slime algae boom just at the sand bed, even with 5x water changes over 1 mth + ###### out the aglae doesn't hep. My water current /motion is set full bast, with additional powerheads installed. Wondering if my sand has too much silicate? Added in several big bottles of Phosguard and NO and NH is all low. Totally lost. Thanks, Peter Peh
  14. Yah, safe for human thru water piping, if human can take it, I guess it should be reef safe? Thanks, Pet
  15. Guys, I've a 1/2 KG Wet Epoxy Putty that cure in 2 hrs @ $20. Taking 35g Wessbond @ $4.50, It will be 70% CHEAPER getting the 1/2 kg pack for new tank setup. You probably take 1/2kg of this bond to get 200kg of LIVEROCK ON A 4X2.5X2 FT tank without the egg crate support - referring to Berlin setup. Anyone need the tip-off on the shop - PM me for info PET
