how deep can a PL light 55w go then?

get a Resun CL-280 lor....brand new at S$299.... can sell you at S$270 next month if you want (thinking of upgrading)....only use for 2+ months by then...but not too sure can cool a 3 footer...as it is only rated for 280 liter...

saw another bring of denitrator @ reborn today, sera...cost abt 200++ also there is the cheapo Azoo brand going for 150... anyone tried these 2 products before.... anyway, from what i heard, Denitrator can potentially take up to a month to work....dunno true or not....

Had this problem once.....don't if it is similar to yours.... my cooler show 26c by the temp in tank is about 29c....eventually found out that the hose to the chiller is twisted in a way that restrict water flow to the chiller.... hope it helps....

I think you might want to collect at that person's house, at least if you see something about the tang you don't like, you can still back out .....don't stress the fish unneccessary.....

hahaha...funny...anyway, the clam that toppled off was not the one that died....in fact, i think it is doing ok in the tank after i place it in the same bed and added an extra 55w PL tube....unfortuately, tank heating up quite fast....chiller has to work OT to bring the temperature down....

yes yes yes...thats what we did change the ELCB to a higher capacity to absord the high fluctuation just not sure how safe it is....

dunno anything about ELCB...but last time I had the same problem in my old office...keep tripping.... Had a friend who was an engineer...he speculated that with too many PCs, there are leaks somewhere...so we either trace the leak (VERY VERY diffcult) or change the fuse or something to allow higher leakage (at a level that is still safe)... We chose the later and the power trip stopped.... unfortunetaly, our office is carpeted, so end up a lot of static discharge! imagine shaking the hand of a female client and then a slight electic shock.... Anyway, any engineer or electrician out there can confirm what to change?

I am tempted too....but still new to the hobby...so take my time learning from my existing setup before committing too....

arrghh!!! take explains why one of my calm keep falling from the rocks! Didn't know that tangs nip at clams....have to figure out a solution. anyway, I don't think that nipping will will cause sudden death of a clam....and my clams does close up fast whenever there is a shadow..

Now I'm worried...it was a overnight thing.... its tank mates are: - 1 bady blue tang - 1 emperor - 1 purple firefish - 1 clown - 1 electric blue hermit carb - 1 red hawall hermit carb - 1 turbo snails - 2 Cernil snails sorry for the wrong spellings....i'm not very good with the names...anyway will any of those LS attack my clams?

Sad day for me....Maxi was doing well yesterday but died today....still trying to track the cause of the death....i suspect it has to do with the temperature (found out that the hose to my chiller was bent resulting in the tank not been cooled - stupid). Anyway, does anyone knows if clams will died at 30 degree? I've check the other parameters (NH,No2,Na3,CA,PH), except for temperature everything seems fine....is there any other thing that will cause my clam to die all of the sudden? Need help before my other clams start dying.... (PS: Sorry jd_n, didn't take good care of your maxi.... )

Hi have any body tried DIY-ing a MH using normal FL or PL casing? Or how about normal desktop/clipon lamps casing? Is it possible in the first place? Anyone has any experience to share? My assumption is that the casing are made of metal and clear plastic is replaced with glass....

yep used it....the matrix carbon is quite ok....saved some of my LS when my anomoe died.... However, don't really see the effect of phosguard...still have to go through the cycle of alage bloom....

read a article some time back about using water bath (those that are used in lab) to cool the aquarium....anyone had any experience in that? for me i have not even seen a water bath before....

nutx...your idea sounds interesting by wouldn't the filter wool become the nitrate factory...anyway I using the Rena XP filter it is quite similar to the one you have drawn.... ervine, you got a point there, the surface area of the canister is only about 1/4 of the tank...might not acheive much... Anyway, another stupid idea....would it be possible for me instead to use nutx idea, but a flat piece of LR to prevent the water from stirring up the sand...or what the heck....can i just fill it up with LR!!!

hi Lighting strike... do you have any other 'devices' for the biological filtering? For me i only have the LR and Skimmer....so dun no if i convert to pure chemial filteration, would whats left be able to handle the bio-load....

Thanks bros.....just realize that when i sat down and stared at the filter.... ....maybe if i can figure a way to reduce the whirling in the canister.... Anyway, thanks for all the help....save me a lot of grief later on..... btw, for the past month i had put a sponge in the intake and it seems to cut down on the Nirate produced from >100ppm to abt 15ppm....but then could be other factor also...such a confusing hobby...
