Clams update Crocea: Maxima: Noae (?) (Guessing this because it came through an Aussie shipment, has 7 ridges/ribs, eyes are scattered unlike maximas, and the mantle is riddled with papillae/ bumps) Hippopus hippopus (recent acquisition from Iwarna. Thanks Leon for the help!) Squamosa: Maybe a derasa, gigas, squamosina, mbalavuana, and a hippopus porcellanus one day... (and a bigger tank).

Still available. I realised that i misplaced the valve to control effluent output. It's the same as those usual plastic airline valves though. A dollar or so to get a replacement.

Little ironies of SPS keeping
pcw replied to christan1959's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
Nutrients (no3/ po4) are used by the zooxanthellae in the corals for photosynthesis. Too much nutrients would increase the growth of zooxanthellae and mask the colours of the corals. So low nutrients are maintained for coral colours. But low nutrients also means that zooxanthellae are not as prolific and less nutritional compounds are passed to the corals themselves. Nutrients that are too low will also cause corals to fade (probably starving). Feeding is used to supplement this need for nutritional compounds for the coral itself. It's a balance to be maintained. -
Wow very impressive. Nice collection. Willing to sell/ trade any?
