  1. Hi, I'm looking for a simple kreisel set up for cheap or some 5 gallon water jug. The type attached to the top of water dispensers in offices. PM me if you've got one for sale. Thanks.
  2. Given that coral chips and oyster shells are primarily made up on calcium carbonate, they will likely increase the pH.
  3. Hey, could I kindly reserve the yellowtang and the chromis? Thanks.
  4. Check in only need permit if you exceed 30 fishes in 3 litres of water or if you are carrying CITES species back I think. More details can be found on AVA's website.
  5. I don't know why your fire goby died because that happened to me too. But in any case, have a blue tang (even a small one) in a 6 gallon tank doesn't sound like a good idea.
  6. Mine took about 2 months before it started venturing out of its hideout. Maybe just give it more time?
  7. I'm culturing rotifers and copepods simultaneously. Pretty easy to do. Can just drop by LCK 201 and ask Steven for more info (: He's very helpful and friendly.
  8. Woah haha I didn't see this one. But its very nice!
  9. 5ft high woah can go snorkelling inside already. But if a frag drops... How to pick up haha
  10. haha nope i didn't get them. they were regular ocellaris clowns and i'm still looking for other varieties of ocellaris/percula pairs haha
  11. I saw a pair of ocellaris clowns at CF (the female clown was really quite big). They were hiding in a small corner in one of the big tanks. Looked more like stowaways but could try if you happen to be heading down.
  12. I saw a lot of tonga rocks at LCK 201
  13. LFS - live fish shop/ local fish store. Whichever would refer to the same thing haha
  14. Can get at most LFS. Price I think would depend on the size and whether a pair of clowns are a mated pair. Otherwise, a small juvenile clown should cost around a dollar.
  15. Don't dose all at once. I'm not sure what is a safe rate of increase in concentration for Mg but please dose in a slow and gradual manner in case there is some shock to your livestock.
  16. I'm assuming you're using MgCl2? With MgSO4 would need even more of it by weight lol. Anyway, calculating manually, 100ppm can be equated to 100 mg/dm3. 96 gallons is around 363.4 dm3. Since you're increasing the concentration by 100ppm in 96 gallons of water, the amount of Mg you would need is 363.4 x 100 = 36340mg. This is 36.34g. But this is only for Mg itself. 36.34g of Mg is around 36.34/12 = 3.028 mols. Molar mass of MgCl2 is 95.21. So by weight, the mass of MgCl2 you would need is 3.028 x 95.21 = approximately 288g (3.s.f). Quite close to 300g I suppose. But this is assuming that you're using MgCl2. Anyway I caveat this by saying that the experts should chime in first. I've never dosed Magnesium.
  17. Sorry :/ I don't remember the name but there is one there. Its not very big though.
  18. There's one at China Square I think? Apart from that.. ebay? haha
  19. Hmm maybe I've not been clear but even 80ppm for a crs/RCS shrimp tank is too high. Besides, inverts are generally more sensitive to nitrate levels than fishes. So by sticking to the standard 1-2 hours acclimatization may be too fast for a shrimp if the main tank has a high nitrate level. In short, the rate of increase in concentration of nitrate might be much faster than usual. But this presupposes that nitrates was an issue, of which, may or may not be the case.
  20. I second MarineLife. Henry is really friendly and as a newbie, I learned much from him.
  21. 80ppm of nitrate sounds too high for a shrimp
  22. Putting a small container in a main tank meaning? Floating it in the tank? Or you put the shrimp into the tank with the main tank's water? Was the shrimp acclimatised?
  23. Really impressed at your DIY skills. Will love to see the progress!
