  1. I recall this piece of equipment and I was very impressed with it. I am thinking of using this in my setup. Are any reefers using it here? I do know that this may cause issue with the overflow, and also requirement for thicker glass as the pressure is now higher. I read that there is a nano version, but there is not much details in the website. Are there similar products from other brands?
  2. True enough. Another reason I want to setup a nano is that I will use the setup as a quarantine setup when I get my main tank up. I thought I start with a nano first to ease my "reefing itch".
  3. I recall red pratas going for >$200 during my time. The superman monti were around $70 for a small piece if I recall correctly.
  4. I never recall nice exotic corals for <$20? I guess to each his own. I don't mind paying for the coral if I like it.
  5. I recognize some of the nick in the forums still, but mostly are new ones. I used to have one in SRC too, but I can't remember what the login ID and password was anymore. I will just let sleeping dogs lie as I just want to enjoy the hobby as it is.
  6. Love your zoos. I had some nice zoos but the nudibranch was one of my nightmares.
  7. Nice. Pumping xenia is one of the 2 coral I have never been able to maintain properly previously. I am keen to try again, but not until I figure out what I am not doing correct.
  8. I am not that senior, just started earlier thats all. We learn from one another and leverage on each one's experience. However, I do hope that there are less drama in the reefing scene now compared to previously.
  9. Nice tank. Btw where can I get rose anemone nowadays?
  10. I had that idea before. There are 2 issues though: 1. Support of the sump tanks, especially the middle one. When the tank is filled with water, rocks, sand it is quite heavy. Being in the middle does not give much option for support. There will be tremendous strain on the tank bottom. Unless you have a stairs setup. But that will take up considerable floor space. 2. Height of the tanks. Generally display tanks are at around the upper body height. That does not leave a lot of room below to install a 2 layer tank system. Again this can be overcome by a stair setup
  11. Drop in coil also remove the need for a feeder pump?
  12. Thanks for the info. I used to be a rather crazy reefer and have quite a fair number of skimmers from the cheap weipros to a taller than me Beckett skimmers (Beckett no longer popular now?). Prizm looks nice but not that effective. I probably need to design my own nano/sump setup. It's all so exciting....
  13. I read about the tank bred clowns and are very excited. My true love is the black ocellaris and back then only 2 sellers worldwide was carrying them. Led is another one I am interested. Not sure if they can replace the good old mh.
  14. My current situation does not allow me to have a big setup yet, and I am eager to get back into reefing. So I thought of starting a nano setup. I guess one of the controversies is should nano setup have a sump. Personally I am incline to have one, in fact I would like to setup all the gear: chiller, ca reactor, skimmer, refugium, etc. Will like to find out if there are miniature versions of the equipment available now. I am thinking of something in line with ADA products but for reefing. ADA products have range for small setup, and are ultra nice, but also ultra expensive. Sadly when I was reefing there was no such equivalent for nano reef.
  15. Thanks, btw AT is no longer the administrator of this forum?
  16. Hi everyone, It has been a while since I visited SRC. Had stopped reefing for almost 10 years (for reasons which I shant elaborate here). Recently the reefer in me has awoken again and the yearn is getting stronger. I am thinking of starting again, and did some silent background reading. Seems that the reefing scene in Singapore has change quite a fair bit. Can someone fill me up on the changes and if there are any new techniques and technologies available? I certainly intend to start slow, as I am no longer in mad rush to gather everything and buy every fancy live stock.
