  1. or even seahorses actually? since I always have baby brine shrimp available, due to feeding of my fries. are seahorses viable in a 12g or they need bigger space?
  2. Hi all, have a spare 12g tank with IOS. Intending to keep a frogfish or some other carnivorous fish (that eats other fish, as I do have excess fish from culling due to breeding)? Anyone have any recommendations what kind of frogfish would be all right to sit in a 12g tank, which doesn't need a bigger size upgrading? As I do have a 2 footer running and a 3 footer coming up, water parameters can be maintained quite easy as I can incoporate the WC together. Any species in mind to recommend?
  3. Nice arrangement for the LPS at the tops. Do you actually glue them in to the rocks or just wedge them in?
  4. Wow. Looks great. Wish I have the space for a 180g, or rather even the $$ to maintain it. ;(
  5. Can I just get some inputs from fellow reefers as to whats the turnover rate for a sump flow should be? From what I read, ultimately we want 5-9X the Display tank water volume? Or is it overall water volume? What turnover do u guys usually use?
  6. Hmmm... Never tried a ro/di unit, hence no idea how resin grading works. Is it by brand or is there a grade stated on the packaging? Havent come across a lot of resins
  7. Thanks bro. Will look into that model Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. My tank and sump is already made. Sump is a 2nd hand as well. So just using what I have Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Distance is around 3.5 feet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. CauSe I'm looking at a main flow of 2500-3000/hr for my sump so that my tank will have a 7-9x flow turnover Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Oh, the chiller I'm getting says 1200l/hr. Does that means I need to run 2 return pumps? 1 for main and 1 for chiller? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hi All, Pretty new to diy section and plumbing overall. Setting up a 3X1.5X1.8 feet tank soon. However, tank wasn't predrilled and sump is a 2 X 1 X 1 feet DIY as well. Using a SKIMZ overflow 2500 for overflow method. So now the question is... Im thinking of either gg hard plumbing or soft plumb the return and drop lines. Leaning more towards hard plumbing as it will look a lot neater. The drop line from the overflow box is a 1inch PVC. Planning to use a jebao 3000 l/hr for my return piump , or a Jebao 5000l/hr, which will be linked to a chiller then to return line in DT. Any idea what dimensions PVC piping should I go for? Should I follow the size of my overflow box, which is 1 inch?
  15. Hmmmm. Wow that differs by quite a fair bit. Won't know till I give it a try. Least I have spare resin on standby if this method doesn't works and I end up getting a ro/do unit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. As for the di water, he mentioned 4 small cups for 180 liters. That's like 500 ml of resin the most? 3liters of resin is $32. So that would make around 1000 liters of water. That's more ex than getting a ro/di unit? With my WC changes planned, I'm only doing 60 liters a month, so that's $32 worth of resin can prolly last me a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Noted about led lightings. Will take that into consideration. Who supplies that anyway? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah, it is reasonable stocked, but with a 2 feet tank, cant really add any more fish into it, hence the idea of a 3 footer, sigh, this feeling never ever goes away anyway doesn't it... lol, I think after a year of a 3 footer, I prolly be looking at a 5 footer ;p Yeah, already bought a sali po4 test kit. actually did a check when I placed the rowa in, 3 before rowa, 0.3 after 5 hours, I think. Nope, not using ro/di atm for my tops up, or even the initial mix. Only a bit of my chaeot are dying off, and those has been removed. My chaeto gets light about 12-14 hours a day. Its only when I leave for work that I turn it off. Im using a dymax 1800 liter/hour for my return, so that's the only flow in my sump/refugium.
  19. awesome. Thanks. Will prolly try this diy thing out. Gonna costs less than $5 to set it up anyway, except for the resin costs.
  20. I had similar issues. Now I run with a chaeto and rowa in my sump. Sump is getting quite a few gha/ brown algae since I on my lights 16 hrs a day for the sump. However, very little to no algae at all in my DT. None on the sandbed. I would suggest rowa in just a media bag if u cant get a reactor.
  21. Any comments for a ro/di unit? I saw a DIY thread where someone makes a di unit out of a bottle+water pump, and the tds reading is 0. Is that water really considered pure water and feasible for reef?
  22. Added 100ml of rowa in a media bag for about a week now. Will be doing routine parameter chck this weekend and will update. So far no casualties but yellow tang has ich, so is in QT now with copper treatment, 2 days in. However, thinking of selling this 2 footer away as planning for a 3x1.5x1.8
  23. Only saw the radion g1 @ $420. I'm thinking of just gg with 4xt5s. Think that would be good enough to start out. In a couple months when I start keeping sps and parameters have stable, prolly then will buy a good led set. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
