They burrow under the sand eating detritus and they shift sand along the way making it clean .. nope they do not eat algae ...

Morning, nice rock wall u have there, DIY ed? Your skimmer doing its job at producing skimmate? Sometimes when it is not adjusted properly, it is not skimming well. Maybe you stock up too fast. Besides dosing bacteria, You can actually do water changes weekly for a 2 ft tank about 16l (20%).

i read a bit about breeding mandarins and clownfish maybe i can help abit. Do you net the eggs out or u scoop it out with a cup? i think they are too fragile to be net out. From some journals i read, they separate the eggs from the main tank with a bit of aeration. Is your main tank and hatch tank of the same temp?

For my 2 turbo snails, so far so good for eating algae on rocks, but they do knock off my frags and poop quite a lot. For Nassarius Snails, they burrow in the sand, clear detritus and uneaten food but sometimes they leave a trail of slime. After getting a saltylight foot crab, i prefer crabs than snails they are nicer to look at and hardworking at the same time. For more established tank, you can consider starfish too. I personally find that get a few types of clean up crew for my 2ft nano, i have 2 turbos, 3 nassarius, 1 satly light foot crab, 1 sand shifting star, 1 cleaner shrimp and 1 peppermint.
