  1. Final rockscape: we created a drop off at the center of the tank, going to the bank of the tank. Trying to add some depth to the scape.
  2. Voila! Cycle complete. Ammonia and nitrite both 0
  3. Very organised. Look forward to more updates.
  4. Bro, how do you ensure the stability of the hanging cliff? I'm trying to do one myself
  5. Is that a lime green monti cap at the left back of the tank?
  6. Excellent explanation. Since I won't use ozone this is probably extravagant. Thx
  7. Hi reefers, I'm just wondering how many people are using an ORP monitor. I've heard mixed reviews, but mostly that these monitors are useful to warn against tank crashes or nutrient overload. Any thoughts appreciated.
  8. Nitrates going quite high. Looks like >10mg/l
  9. Next batch of tests: slight drop in ammonia, slight rise in nitrite
  10. How much must ammonia spike for you to feel comfortable with the bacteria population in a tank? I just put a normal sized market prawn into the tank, cut into 5 pieces over a week ago. Now they have disintegrated and decomposed I assume. But ammonia spike only at 0.5mg/l. Maybe for a 5x2x2 I need to put more dead prawns?
  11. I find it strange that I didn't see a spike in nitrites....
  12. Totally forgot about nitrates. Just did a test and it seems like it's 50 mg/l. Cycle over in a week?!
  13. Strange: ammonia dropped a touch, but nitrites still the same...
  14. Nice! Signs of a healthy ecosystem!
  15. That's a nudibranch. How do you feed it?
  16. Also usually I leave my cabinet doors open during the day when I'm not at home. So it doesn't get that Warm as a result
  17. I would sync it with my lighting schedule, ie lights on then fans on. That would be from 1pm to around 10pm. Other hours can do periodic start/stop.
  18. Week one: after leaving a dead mkt prawn and dosing bacteria: Some ammonia, still no nitrite
  19. The duct leads to my false ceiling and disperses the air there instead of having it stuck within the cabinet. Ideally there should be another extraction fan to pull the warm air out of the false ceiling into say the balcony or kitchen, but so far my living room is still quite cooling so no need for now
  20. Impressive to see so many teenagers here!
