According to the people at the lfs, I can still use a hang on filter and avoid the salt spraying out by covering up the top of the tank with acrilic sheet. Is this appropriate?

Yes, i'm setting up 2 tanks, and small beause I'm interested in extra small nanos. I've seen people mainting 1 ft using nothing except hang on filters. That's good in my opinion as it serves 2 purposes - filtration and aertion, but they cause salt to spray out. dirties the surroundings and causes damage to nearby items. Was wondering if there's another alternative, but in such a small tank, a powerhead might cause too much turbulence.

er...if 4 inches then it would become a dsb only tank!!

Hi, I have a few questions to ask: Because of the size of the tanks that I want to use to set up fowlr, -- I'll be depending on the dsb and lr only to do the filtration. Is this sufficient, or do I need to add a protein skimmer? -- Is there any powerhead for such a small tank. Anyone can give me the exact brand and model? -- Is lighting needed? If so, how many watts for how many hrs a day? My tanks will have only lrs (might have shrooms growing on it) and 1 or 2 shrimps. thanks.
