The prints on the pipe says DNE JIS K6741:1999 16MM UPVC CLASS VU PIPE. I suppose it is safe to use for aquarium :-)

Updates: got my 2ft sump, return pump, grey piping. Is there a reliable brand/model of Check valve that I should use? I went to C328 and Qianhu. Both doesn't sell water check valve.

Hi, I just want the sump. Let me know if u hv 1 to let go.
-
Sure. Thanks a lot.

Hi Bro, Thanks for the info. We have similar tank size so your specs will help me a lot. With the half inch pipe, do you have to use a valve to restrict the output of your return pump? May I know which return pump u r using?

It is an external overflow, like the video that Martian shared.

Hi everyone, I need advice on a few things. My tank is 190L and sumpless. Running on canister. I intend to get shop to custom make a sump. 1) any reasonably priced shop that can just make the sump only since I have the tank already? 2) I have some instructions on diy overflow ( not siphon). What pipe diameter should I use for intake? 3) where can I find black pvc pipe that is safe for aquarium? 4) how do I estimate the flow rate of return pump? Certainly not the bigger the better right? 5) Any advantage of using acrylic instead of glsss for sump? Is acrylic cheaper? Thanks.

Bro, I will certainly get one with sump when I move to my new house. Therefore, I just can't afford the time to setup another tank and gotta move all the livestock. My wife is gonna kill me! Hahaha Current one is just an experimental phase to learn the trade from fowlr to sps in a small scale. I certainly won't proceed with that 'stupid idea' after all the advises.

Looks good! May I know how many inch pipe did u use for your friend's tank?

Anyone got stung by dwarf lionfish?
DerrickLim replied to DerrickLim's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
no worries bro, I have not bought it. Just want to make a calculated decision before buying one. -
Hi friends, Any of you have a dwarf lionfish in your tank and got stung by it while cleaning it? If, unfortunately, have been stung, what is the consequence? Thanks. source of picture: http://www.liveaquaria.com/images/categories/product/p-39417-dwarf-lionfish.jpg

Great link! Thanks :-)

Looks like it is a real bad idea. Gotta make do with a messy tank then.... Thanks everyone

Spread fast? I rather not. Haha.. Thanks for the suggestions. I will read up on it.

Hi everyone, I hope the title caught your attention and willing to help me evaluate the idea. Basically I start off marine tank with an inappropriate setup (no sump, run on eheim pro 3 canister). Basically it is a used set that I took over from someone. What I intend to do is to connect it like this .... tank inlet -> canister (in) -> Canister (out) -> hydra stream -> reservoir water below tank -> standalone pump (with flow control valve) -> chiller -> main tank * HOB overflow box is impossible due to the euro bracing. * reservoir tank is where i intend to put my HOB protien skimmer (buy already, so gotta used), dosing pump. wanna hide this equipment from the main tank. * standalone pump will have a slightly higher flow rate than canister and then control with valve. My concern is imbalanced input and output flow in water reservoir. I know I am not doing the setup in the most efficient way as I gotta live with my lack of experience. This marine tank is also my learning points for my new tank when i got a new house in 2015. So, other than scolding me for the poor design, will the above work "technically"? haha ... thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I have 1 small 1 medium and 1 large RBTA surviving for 2 mths or so. I am exploring soft coral and wanna some recommendation for me . Tank: 3ft x 1.5 ft x 2ft (H) (no sump. running on eheim pro 3 canister and hangon protein skimmer) PH: 8.2+- Temperature: 30-31 degree celcius (chiller set at 30. I know temperature is high but I have heard from fellow hobbists who kept similar livestock without chiller in Singapore) SG: 1.024 from API test kit: dKH: 12 Ammonia/Nitrite: Undetectable Nitrate : almost undetectable (vodka dosing and running Ocean Free Hydra Stream 2 inline with canister) Thanks in advance
