Hi everyone, Due to accidental copper introduction, I had a semi tank crash. What surprised me is my Blue n yellow tang died first, then fox fish, followed by starfish and RBTA. Aren't invertebrates more sensitive to copper than fish?

This is what I intend to do. Remove metal check valve n replace with plastic valve 25% water change for every 2 days What should I use to remove copper at the same time? I heard activated carbon doesn't help. Please advise.

Hi guys, I have just installed a metal check valve to my return pumps so that I can use them as external pump. However, I have lost 1 star fish, yellow tang, blue tang and fox face since then. My 3 RBTA are not doing well suddenly now. My clownfish, trigger, chromis, Mandarin, Koran are looking healthy. I have checked ammonia nitrite and nitrate. All are normal like past 4mths. I suspect that the check valve might be copper and it is releasing copper into the water. Is this possible?

Manage to get it running with double check valve at return pipe. Manage to get my eheim pump to run externally too! So exciting. Hahaha

One of u is talking about siphon break at inlet, the other talk Abt return pipe. Anyway I am more in favour of check valve at return pipe. Just wonder if I need 2 check valve in series in case 1 fail. Read in one post earlier that a reefer in Malaysia has a check valve failure and whole room flooded.

My tank has a thick euro bracing. Overflow box won't fit. Thanks for the suggestion for siphon hole. Sounds good :-) will try.
