  1. Could be something in ur water. maybe some chemicals. u could run carbon for a few days and do water changes
  2. Den could be pests. Try looking at it at night
  3. whats ur specific gravity. Seems like ur parameters should not be the issue. How long have u gotten this zoa?
  4. could be due to many reasons. maybe background info of your tank could help. for example. how long has it been set up, whats the nitrates, nitrites and ammonia readings. Could be due to pests do you see any small insect like creatures crawling? best is take a torch light and check at night.
  5. should not be cloudy for so long might be bacteria bloom, what else are you adding inside. maybe do more water changes or run carbon
  6. Nope marine is not like planted tanks they don't need CO2 unless you are running a calcium reactor. But that is for larger tanks you dun have to worry. What are you planning to put into the skim monzter? If it fits why not. But might not have space. Lights there are a few types, LED and T5. Both got pros and cons can research first before deciding. For LED if you want affordable one maybe can go for those china made one such as sanrise or eshine.
  7. haha usually will say want keep clowns and a few lifestock but once u get poisoned with those beautiful corals you would want to keep. I also decomm but hands very itchy to get back in... Maybe for your tank to manage the nutrients you can try adding polyplab biospehere heard that it works quite well
  8. DI water is Deionized water. Distilled is by another process
  9. Firstly what kind of fish and corals are you planning to keep? it will affect your set up. Best is to plan carefully before you start. Spend a bit more on the first tank and get the right equipment. If not you will spend more upgrading in the future. The light seems good enough only for fishes only set up. 18watts a bit too low. There are a few better and stronger lights in the market. Back again to what you intend to keep. Protein skimmer is quite important for a reef tank. If you planning to cycle the tank for the first month den can probably get the skimmer second month. Honestly I would get a tank with a sump. It helps you hide all your equipment and gives you more room for upgrade and get more equipment like reactors. You are missing out a chiller or a fan to keep the temperature low. Best is to get a chiller, a fan will result in a lot of evaporation and your salinity will swing a lot, unless you get an auto top up device.
  10. Maybe the salt not properly mixed end up collecting somewhere? Not very sure. Just thinking. Maybe some senior can advise
  11. Do u have a ato? Also is the refractrormeter calibrated? How long u mix the salt for?
  12. More cal does not reduce kh. Just water change will do
  13. Haha. Wish to start now but staying with parents. They will slaughter me. lol.. Dun want kena poisoned by SPS again. Want keep things simple that's why play LPS only Anyone tried to set up an easy water change system? Do share
  14. Will probably only do it in my new house.. Which havent even applied yet, hahaha.. few yrs time... dunno how am i going keep away for so long. Few months fingers itchy le
  15. I decommed a few months back due to in order to save money to get BTO.. Went into FW but still find myself looking at SRC and thinking of my next tank. Hands very itchy! Maybe can plan first get some input den very slowly work towards it. Haha... Planning to do a divider like tank the next round. 3FTx1FTx1FT. Want to go for the shallow look. Will have top and bottom cabinet (Top cabinet mainly to hide the lights and prevent jumping fishes. Did a netting last tank to cover the top and it did not look very nice) But will a shallow tank look nice with the top cabinet? If want to view den can open up maybe.. Will be mainly LPS and zoas with a few fishes. Filtration thinking of going as basic as possible probably skimmer and chaeto in sump. Will try to max out the space for cheato. Will this work? Water changes thinking of adding extra holes in the tank near the middle part and attach a valve to it. Will lead straight to a drain. so for water change just turn on the valve and let it drain. And probably hide a water tank attached to a tap with a DI unit somewhere nearby. And have a pump connected to it to the main tank. So I don't have to lug water pails around. Anyone got try this before? Hassle free water change? If i go mainly LPS and zoas what will probably need bluer lights to make the colours pop. Any recommendations? Thinking maybe hydra 52 or whatever new light set they come out in a few years time.. haha
  16. Got check ur nitrates n phosphates? What u change water with?
  17. Bro think your tank too early for mandarin fish. They need a well established tank with sufficient supply of copepods to survive
  18. Hi seniors, Anyone can advise what is the best way to remove scratches from an acrylic tank. I read online that they use NUVOS Plastic polish, but I am not sure where to find it in Singapore. Anyone has any idea where to find it or is there alternatives? Thanks for your help.
