Day 15 update Most of the algae on top of the rocks are gone. However there are quite a lot of algae still on the underside of the rocks. Have done a 20% water change and manually remove those algae under the rocks. Have redose a partial amount of fluconazole. Shall check in after a few days to see if there are any changes.

I dont think there is a battery back up big enough for a chiller. For that you might need a generator. The backup battery is mainly for pumps or wave makers. The aim is to keep the water flowing while you get the power up and running.

Film algae grows slower now I clean my glass less den normal.

Day 12 update Most of the gha on top of the rocks have gone. Very little left. However the gha on the underside of the rock for some reason still very long. Have ordered another bottle and plan to do a water change and add more to replace the lost medication. So far its been quite effective.

Day 6 update Can see that the gha are dying. It is thinner and shorter. Those on the underside of rocks see no changes. No manual removal have been done so far. Results look promising so far!

So far not much changes to the hair algae. I noticed the algae on the back glass has subsided quite a lot. Also my rbta has been closed since treatment. Hopefully it will open soon. Will post some pic updates in a few days time

Oh man very sorry to hear that. Hope your tank recovers. Ur sps is really amazing! The frags I got from u previously are doing great

Day 3 update. I find that there is less algae growth on the front of the glass. Usually have to clean after 1 or 2 days as my tank directly faces the sun. The hair algae seems lighter in colour. Not sure is it just the lighting. Fingers crossed that hopefully the treatment works.

I will monitor every 2-3 days and update here to see if this treatment works. For bryopsis they said to leave it for 14 days and for hair algae 21 days. Even hair algae is growing on my sps body. This is day 0 before dosing.

Have been battling with hair algae. My nitrates are undetectable with delivery test kit and using hanna ULR phosphorus test kit phosphate is at 0.021ppm. However hair algae is continuing to grow. The low readings could be due to the consumption of nutrients from the hair algae. Did some research and found out that fluconazole helps with some types of hair algae. I tried it years ago in my old tank on bryopsis and it worked wonders. So I decided to give it a try. Ordered a bottle from reefmarketsg and it was just delivered. the whole bottle contains 10 capsules. 1 capsule is recommended for 40L. Hence for my tank of about 350L I used 9 capsules. I removed the cup of my skimmer and turned off my media reactor. I mixed the powder in a small cup of tank water and poured it straight to my main tank.

Last time I drilled my bubble magus skimmer for an overflow. Have to be very slow and careful not to crack the plastic. But it might spoil the sleek look of ur skimmer

Just wanted to share a small add on for your skimmer should it have a drain. Add on a rubber tubing connected to a 90 degree connector and a valve. Makes emptying the skimmer cup so much easier. Just turn the valve over a pail cleaning ur skimmer is a breeze.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your sps bro Hope ur tank can recover soon back to the former glory!
-
Very hard to maintain. I have sand sifting star narcissus snails. But still found some parts of the sand harden. Den build up of detritus
-
Best would be to drill an overflow box. Can see eshopps overflow box.

From FOWLR to Mixed Reef to Mangroves to Softies

Wow nice system. Do u find the mangrove taking up more magnesium? I had a few mangroves but find my magnesium always unbalanced. Need to manually add more even though I'm running a calcium reactor with magnesium inside -
The bird nest with me about 3yrs. Grown from a frag. The toadstool about 6 months from a frag bought from sea life. Here's my previous tank about 2yrs back

Current fts. Still a work in progress. Using aqua forest reef salt. Bought a bucket of tropic marin try. Also regretted putting sand in. Now doing step by step removal of sand.

Some pics of my tank. After the velvet was a outbreak of hair algae as no tangs to eat it up. Now still got a few places that is growing. Waiting for this CB to finish to get some fishes! Tried sea hare but it disappeared after a few days sadly.
