  1. Wow so generous I honestly wanted to take it (I'm still a student) but I already have my own tank (and a new one coming soon) so I won't be selfish I hope this tank finds a good responsible owner who will look after it regardless of his student responsibilities!
  2. you gotta put it near the mouth and leave it for around 3 minutes. If it shows no interest then try prawns. If still no interest then you gotta see if it recovers by itself, and remove it and toss it away if it starts melting
  3. if your metal frame is made of aluminum, then it's fine. However if it's made of steel, make sure the grade is above 316 or it will start rusting and break with the weight of the tank. If your stand is made of pure iron, then your tank would crash to the ground very soon. Anyways your freshwater tank won't get affected as long as no saltwater touches it. Your spacing seems okay, but it's best to check with the tank maker first. You should also make sure the equipment has the correct rating for your tank. I don't have any recommendations in particular, but maybe you could check out iwarna or the Atlantic tank maker. You're gonna have to look around and I've seen some good links on google too
  4. you should just feed him food like oyster or market prawn every 3-7 days and it would start growing it's zooxanthelle back within a few months
  5. You shouldn't dose strontium. I don't know much about sps but I heard that too much of it will hurt your corals in the long run. Maybe too much strontium is hurting them?
  6. Alright I have a few suggestions For your lights, get proper ones. Fowlr or not, your tank would look terrible without reef lights. I have a nano fowlr tank which looks terrible due to a freshwater lighting module. Your algae will grow uncontrollably too, depending on how much white your light has For your tank, maybe you can try to get it custom made. There are a lot of tank makers in sg (just check the sponsers section) For temperature, it would be ok if you don't use any cooling unit, but from what I observe fish become more lethargic and die faster without cooler waters similar to their habitat. For wave maker, a strong return pump may not be sufficient. Maybe 2 jebao wp10 would be enough for your wave strength. And if you're going to use your skimmer as a return pump, there is no way the gph would be high enough for your fishes. Your skimmer must also have a suitable gph passing through it, and this would be lower than the waves needed by reef fish Wish you luck in your new tank Happy reefing~
  7. Why isn't a copperband butterfly reefsafe? Cos it contains copper :D

  8. I don't mean to be sadistic to his current fishes, but with his current childish mindset, hopefully
  9. Haha if it's his tank then will surely smell like dead fish
  10. oh I didn't hear about the razor 200w. When is it going to be released? My tank can be without light for around a month(cycling). It should be better than 2 Pharos in terms of strength so if it's reasonably priced I may get it
  11. Haha thanks! I haven't set it up tho. I'll inform you guys when I do
  12. yep but if you want fat fish every week on 2 or 3 days you can feed them in the afternoon. I feed my nano tank two blocks every day, and I make sure they eat all the food. If your fish finish the food too fast you can try to feed 2 blocks at a time, but make sure they finish more than 3/4 of the food you give or there would be a lot of nitrate build up!
  13. LOLOL no the second movie would be about finding out about Dory's past (I think)
  14. iq3 is wayyyyyy to small to be a fowlr tank. Unless you want to keep a species tank for tiny fish which cannot live with other fish (frogfish/scorpionfish etc etc) the fish in your tank would suffer. IMO your tank is more suited for corals but the temperature fluctuations would be a big problem, so some form of cooling is required
  15. I doubt he will quit so easily... He probably just stopped checking the forums. Anyways if he thinks he is very smart then let his wallet break lor. We can't stop him from buying fishes, unfortunately
  16. the office may be warm and humid after the aircon shuts off so it may reach quite high temperatures. If you want to you should check your office temp when the aircon is off. Also I think the only corals you can keep are simpler mushrooms and Zoas, and maybe some other softies. Temperature fluctuations are hard to manage and 6 degree changes can cause a lot of corals to melt very quickly
  17. I'm speaking on triggers on the whole. I know triggers like the niger trigger can be kept with corals, but the behavior of other triggers depend fish to fish. One thing for sure, trigger may eat them. It's up to the individual fishes preference. for someone fairly new to corals I don't think he would want problems with the fish just yet right?
  18. very nice the pics you took yourself ah? Damn sharp haha
  19. Wah so many fishes. Hopefully your bioload can handle and no casualties! Got any pics of them?
  20. how did your temperature shoot up to 32 degrees? Wasn't the chiller already set up some time back? Dream big, achieve bigger
  21. sad to hear that I have been following your posts (quietly) and I've (quietly) been observing the ways of the hidden dragon I love your tank! So simple yet so beautiful Dream big, achieve bigger
  22. Okie time for some updates these past few days I haven't been doing any research and the most recent thing I did was to simply compile the equipment Light: 2x Pharos 90w $400x2 =$800 I'm going for 2 Pharos cause the tanks gonna be 422 so I will have better light spread with 2 Pharos modules rather than 1 maxspect Skimmer: skimz sk201 (kone) $490 Return pump: jebao DC 12000 $200 Live rock: ~50kg $3x50 =$150 Tank: 422 $1250 custom made Wave maker: wp25+wp40 $75+$90 Dosing pump: marine magic $200 Chiller: 1/2 hp hailea $579 Substrate: 1x Caribsea arag alive +2 x coral sand size no. 0 $60 Total: $3794
  23. I have already decided all the equiptnent I would use. The things which I would buy later would be the chiller and the wave makers, as they are not really needed by the initial cycle, and the chiller would just slow the cycle down
  24. Im probably going to stick to led, but I am deciding between 2 Pharos 90w sets, 1 razor maxspect, (most likely maxspect due to $$$ reasons) and I am also deciding if I should supplement the tank with Par38 LEDs Currently I am not doing any planning and I am focusing more on my exams, so my current project has stagnated Ill start making purchases early next month Thanks for asking! (btw next time maybe we could chat through the forums chat system ! I don't want to hijack your posts )
