  1. I may get a better chiller depending on the remaining money. I'm gonna use the hs series too not the ha series Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  2. I'll try to ask Victor to email it to me. I only have the set list for a 322 tank now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  3. they eat pods like mandrin haha. Even if they eat pellets/frozen food they will most likely starve unless you feed them every 15 seconds they have a "straight" digestional tract(they poop a few minutes directly after they eat) so they get hungry very very very fast Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  4. I would advise you to have a take caution and have a contingency plan if you put them together. And if you do please post your findings here! I (and probably many others) would want to keep those two fishes together in the future so your experience would be greatly appreciated
  5. Both fish are aggressive to mate competitors. I had 2 male mandrins which fought to the death. I'm not sure if it's would happen inter-species though :/
  6. Alright I have finalized some things(99.99% won't change): - lights will be maxspect razor - tank would be 422 - chiller would be hailea 1/4 Now it's time to decide on the skimmer etc etc. I messaged Victor from iWarna on the cost to set up a 422 tank, and he said it would be $1280. The budget for the tank also increased to $4000, so the price is more comfortable now now I have to decide if I am gonna stick with Victors "basic setup" or choose the equipment myself (most likely the latter I'm not satisfied with his skimmer) What's your opinion on this? Should I use his setup or should I customize the equipment selection myself? And anyone here used his basic equipment selection before? Good or not? Thanks! 7. try look at the pasar Malam section here. You could buy a big rock of it for around $5 if you're lucky!
  8. Haha I'll think about my later upgrades another time. Now I'll focus on setting up a tank properly first
  9. ill upgrade equipment like the skimmer when I start sps probably higher end china brands though haha German brands are too ex for my budget
  10. ill upgrade equipment like the skimmer when I start sps probably higher end china brands though haha German brands are too ex for my budget
  11. Oh ok then maybe ill get the jebao pump
  12. oh nice but I did some research and there are a lot of people complaining how it is a waveline rebranding. If so is the original waveline cheaper and as good as the jebao? Anyways I saw some pics and the reef octopus looks so much cooler. Ill wait for the jebao and compare prices first before I choose one of them
  13. don't worry I can set up the piping myself I just need the tank maker to make the appropriate holes to make plumbing easier
  14. woah cabinet so expensive ah? Then definitely gonna get 2nd hand haha. But will definitely look around first anyways I'm gonna be really free during the holidays so I prefer to have a tank come late and be super neat than a tank come with a half past six kind of job being done Oh oopsies I forgot to change the pump to a different model :/ argh I guess it's more money spent then :'( And the pump I like the octopus pump more cause it has the feeder settings and other things like that. I would most likely stick to it!
  15. honesty all the chiller "ratings" are just gauges only. It's not like the chiller will blow up if you exceed by 20 liters right? I mean yes it will strain but I'm not even gonna exceed the rating so I'm fine with the cheaper model
  16. ok then I'll invest in a better skimmer and a cheaper chiller. Thanks!
  17. Just curious, what do you feel is more important? Skimmer or chiller?
  18. oh no I didn't realize that. I was looking at the old 1/4 :/ I guess I'll get the 1/2 then. Sigh more money to be spent
  19. The 1/2 chiller would be around $120 more, which is a lot to me. Anyways the 1/4 hp is rated for up to 800l and the tank would be around 453l so the 1/4 would be enough. And for second hand tanks I won't buy anything older than 2 years(so that the silicone is still fresh) and at least 12mm thick, and if possible or needed, ill eurobrace the tank. Hopefully then it can last for around 4 to 6 years.
  20. Here's the updated information. I have not yet confirmed skimmer and I may change the substrate too (4 or 5)ft*2ft*2ft Tank (2nd or first hand) ~$500 Maxspect razor 160W 16k $640 Skimmer(undecided yet) ~$500 Jebao wp40 +wp25 x2 $85+$75x2 $235 Hailea chiller and pump Hailea 1/4 hp $450 Hailea - Water Pump HX6530 (1750L/H) $49.80 Reef Octopus Diablo DC Water Pump DC-3500 SGD140.00 Coral Sand Size no. 0 10kg x5 SGD10.00 x5 $50 Live rock ~$150 from both lfs and decomm Dosing pumps (optional) Marine magic dosing pump $200 Total: $2915 Btw ill post a separate build thread once I star the tank!
  21. thanks! Ill keep this in mind. Ill probably go around to compare prices first
  22. oh ok then I'll still probably get 1 wp40 and 2 wp25 just incase. If too strong then ill put a wp25 in the sump. I plan to put the wp25 in the display attached to the wall socket timer so that the current can slow down at night
  23. Oh ok wow not bad. Quite cheap compared to some other lfs haha but I think if the cabinets going to cost more I may get second hand
  24. oh ok then I'll probably get 1 wp40 and 2 wp25 or 2 wp40 as you recomended!
  25. Around How much did your tank cost? And is the cabinet chengai wood?
