Any suggest for next live stock
Quas111 replied to davidlim1712's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Ok I have a lot of suggestions for you I'm not sure if the images will come out in sequence but I hope they do :/ btw the images are all found from the Internet Firstly, you could get a small blue damsel. They are one of the least aggressive damsels I have seen, and like the company of fish. I personally prefer the cyan version You could get a canary wrasse too. They are easy eaters but they need a 2 inch sand bed to sleep in (mine does idk about others). An issue you will face with them is that they eat copepods, like mandrin. They will most likely eat different types of food but keeping mandrins with them will become a bit more challenging Another good fish for beginners is the fire fish. Initially they will be shy and hide in caves but once they are comfortable you will see them in the open areas a lot Chromis is also a good fish for beginners, but they're not really my favorite. I'll still recommend them to you due to how easy they are to keep. Just be careful not to overstock or they'll kill each other A nice fish would be a bi-color dotty. They hide in caves and come out sometimes, and only one can be kept a tank. I love their color combo One of my favorite tiny fish are chalk basslets. They're super cute and they can be kept in large schools You could keep cardinal fish, but I don't recommend the "panda" version unless you can breed them cause they are near extinct, and buying it will only increase demand for them One of my last suggestions is the algae/sailfin/lawnmower Blenny. It's super funny to watch and has a lot of personality in your tank. I recommend it for beginners cause it helps to keep the algae in the tank low, but you won't be able to keep it alive once you get better at reefing. This is probably the only fish I only recommend beginners take (and not pros) cause they need a constant supply if algae Hope this was useful for you! There are a lot of websites which has already covered the topics of "beginner" fishes. I listed all the "beginner" fish I enjoyed the most, but everyone will have their own opinions happy reefing~ Dream big, achieve bigger -
Any suggest for next live stock

haha I'm sorry bro but don't expect your corals to survive with most triggers and nearly all angels. They tend to bite the corals for food -
If you're gonna start of corals wait at least a month after the cycle cos corals are not as forgiving to fish, and by then your water should be stable enough to support them. And make sure any medication you add to the tank doesn't contain copper. Also ensure that you have the appropriate chemicals needed (mainly a calcium and magnesium source, and a pH riser) and the test kits needed to control their quantity hope you find this useful!

for first timers mushroom and cheaper zoanthids, then can progress to soft corals, then LPS an finally SPS once you have grasped reefing completely. mushrooms and zoanthids are more forgiving so they are good to start of with

Then no worries. With your tank size your clown fish shouldn't be fighting too. The only problem I forsee is that your clownfish would bully new tank additions, but that depends on the individual character of your fish. Good luck with your new tank! Just curious, but do you plan to add corals? Adding anemone would be nice too, especially with clownfish to host them
-
it's very very risky. You should have only put in one or two considering this is your second (or third) week of cycling, and your cycle may not have been completed and there may not have been enough bacteria to handle the bio load. Usually the norm is to wait a month to cycle if you're not using test kits. Clownfish are hardy fish so hopefully they don't die! Anyways how big is your tank? 6 clownfish is A LOT if your tank is smaller in size. They'll fight for territory when they grow older.

Haha I'll keep a look out for your name in the pasar Malam section too
-
oh good idea since Zoas don't grow upwards where's your previous coral and life stock now? In another tank?
-
Wow bro your tank is AMAZING. When I saw your first few posts I thought that your rock design was terrible but now with corals on it, I take it back. Now it's so beautiful!

Can I keep this crab in my nano reef tank?
Quas111 replied to DottyClown's topic in General Reefkeeping_
haha don't take the risk. If you want crabs buy crabs from people who have a full ID on them, and try not to keep hitchhiker crabs. But it's up to you haha I can't stop you, all I can do is advice you not to keep it! hope you listen and get rid of it -
Can I keep this crab in my nano reef tank?
Quas111 replied to DottyClown's topic in General Reefkeeping_
I'm sorry bro, but it is 90% gorilla crab. Even if if is not it is a hairy crab, which isn't safe for tanks. Either flush it down the drain or give it to a mantis shrimp owner (crabs are a treat for them haha at least make it's life worth something ). Trust me you don't want to play with this. If you keep it I'm very sure you would love to throw it out within a few weeks, and by then it would be hard to catch as it would be too familiar with your tank -
it's a type of pellet food which seems to be very good not only for feeding fish but also for acclimating fish to eat pellet food. I have only heard positive remarks about it so far. Here's the website: http://reefnutrition.com/tdo_chroma_boost.php

And how fast does the good foods like Henry's meal, ocean nutrition and TDO degrade in an auto feeder? Could they last around 2 weeks in the open at a time? I mean if they are high protein they would decompose very fast right?
-
hmm interesting points! I will definitely look out for these points when buying food for the fishes! How about garlic? Is it a useful or pointless ingredient. I saw a post on this forum about how garlic actually decreases a fishes immunity to diseases. Is it true?

Wow your tank is damn nice so awesome! Looks DAAAMMMMNNN profesional haha! Do post more pics! Im interested to see where this tank heads so much potential!

Pls help ID Crab. Good or bad?
Quas111 replied to DottyClown's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Crabs are very hard to ID. I think to make the ID easier, it would be better if you added more pictures and description! Anyways heres a good link for finding about the hitch hiker crabs: http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchcrabs.html Hope this helps! -
oh interesting! It seems really good! So which would be better in terms for value for money for the quality and quantity of the pellets? Would Henry's meal be better or TDO be better?

What about TDO by reef nutrition? Has anyone used it here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Best type of pellet food Hi, I'd like to know what your opinion is on different types of pellet foods! Which brand is better and why?

looks can be deceiving! I feel it's better to throw out any crabs which cannot be IDed due to the dangers. No one wants to see corals gone the next morning due to a silly crab! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -

What is the color of the top of its claws? If it's black remove it without delay! It would be a gorilla crab if it has black claw tips! Dangerous! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
Btw the tank will need to have a lot of base surface area for mandrins. A tank with a bigger base would be better than a tank with a taller height. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
