looks like aiptasia. Pest if it is. Real pain to remove chemically, so I chip of the rock under it to remove it in one piece

Yes hyper salinity is faster, more effective and doesn't damage the LR as much as hypo salinity(low salinity)

From what I have read, no fish have a martyrdom mechanism, it's just the nitrates which rise too drastically for most fish to handle which kills them. Not so sure tho, just thought this may help

Yep confirm Bobbit worm, as Veliferium said. Doing a hypersalinity dip before you put them in the tank would have reduced the chance of introducing one into your system

Update: the problem has been solved. A day ago I had to push the tank to the window to make way for a new tank, and the algae is growing like mad.

Nope normal water conditions are ok. I used to have some in a high nutrient non chilled tank until I got a canary wrasse, so they should do fine in your tank. They just like to hide a lot

Mine doesn't and I finished all my pellet food already, and I feed mysis, which it also doesn't eat. So I always keep the tank with a suitable amount of algae for it, which suddenly stopped growing

You can use agrocrete too. It's just concrete mixe with sand, salt and distilled water. The paint I think acrylic paint would be ok, but need confirm?

Hi all, I have been having a rather err... uncommon problem with my current nano set up. "Pest" algae is not growing AT ALL. I have a lawnmower blennie (affectionately known as grumpy fish > ) who needs it a lot. He's suffering from the lack of it and is nearly becoming thin. I have had my last water change 2 months ago(exam period. Chiong study all the way) and I haven't changed the filter cotton in 1 weeks in hopes of increasing algae through increased nitrates. I'm not using test kits but my anemone (only invert in tank) seems fine(it has survived 100ppm tested last time). I also have 1 light on all day and another on for 16 hours(super long I know, but how else to grow algae?) So how? I don't want grumpy to die :'( Tl:dr-thin Blenny, no algae, cannot grow, long light with big nutrients Thanks! any help would be appreciated

Hmm 10kg sand for 5 feet seems quite less, but it may work depending on the type of sand. And for lighting why did you choose 2x120w razor? Just curious cos quite recently a 300w razor was released. Oh and what pump are you gonna up through the chiller? Good luck with your new tank
