  1. Looks like an acro crab. Should be a good guy. He's aggressive cos he's probably protecting the acro colony he "owns". Maybe it would be better if you could take a photo of the colony you saw it with as well. The similar coloration will mean that it probably lives there
  2. I really like hermit crabs but they tend to need new shells after a whole, so you have to give around 4 shell sizes for the crab. Otherwise nausaurius snails would be good for detritus on the sand, and starfish once your tank has matured(v. Sensitive. I have had no success with them). Maybe emerald crabs work too but they break of tiny bits of rock, and in my tank they have caused the rocks to look patchy and uneven, so I wouldn't recommend. Turbo snails work too, but they are prey to many fish so I avoid them too. If you dislike coralline then you could add urchins, because they completely clean the rocks very completely(they leave a trail of white on the rocks where they go). Hope this helped!
  3. clown, goby, juvenile tangs(must change tank when grow big), nearly all types of crustaceans, blenny(lawnmower is the cutest ), canary wrasse etc. Must just be small and do some research before you buy. Usually I go lfs, ask uncle what the name of the fish is, take phone and google about the fish on live aquaria to see if can put in tank
  4. I had 5 chromis in my 24g tank for 3 months until 1 died. After that the rest fought until all died from infection within a month
  5. I have never had luck with any number of chromis less than 5. I notice that when they are too few in number they tend to become more aggressive
  6. I heard that nudibranches are obligate feeders, which means that they can't get their nutrition from alternative sources other than tier intended food source
  7. (People may kill me for saying this) what I found is that with multiple anemones or hosting softies you can keep more clownfish together. Caves also work too, but they hose corals and anemones more often than caves. With the anemones they will only be territorial to the area surrounding their anemone, not the whole tank and would fight less
  8. Hmm yah I just had a discussion with another reefer and realized that it was ridiculously far for me to cycle so I guess public transport is best
  9. look like that long enoki mushrooms you always see at steamboats I have no clue on the ID tho, looks like a clear mojano anemone variant(pest) maybe not :/
  10. Hey guys still cycling? I may be interested in joining you, if you don't mind! I'm a student so I can't drive a car and stuff, and I cat rely on my Mom to drive all the time, so maybe I could follow along, and make new friends too
  11. I like the idea of putting the rocks on broken wavemakers. Looks much better than the eggcrates. I may try it next time The rest of the tank also very nice I like your kit kat sps the most too
  12. Yeah they are quite cool and are largely unexplored. When I was rescaping my rocks I had to break some to get smaller pieces, I saw tonnes and tonnes of different things living inside. All those hitchhiker guides cover nearly nothing of the stuff which can be found in live rock IMO
  13. what are those green, and brown things? Never seen them before
  14. they are fast so what I used to do was to take a mysis cube, put it infront of the hole and grab them when they come out to eat. But now I know it's dangerous I will probably use gloves. I think there are some other methods to catch them tho, but I find this the most effective
  15. it's expensive to feed angelfish long term. Assuming that the sponge lasts a week, you spend $24 a month feeding your angel fish
  16. for some reason your tank colors look better. Must be the high quality glass
  17. Oh ok thanks but doesn't the normal two channel LEDs have mainly 450nm channel and a cool white led channel? Is that the best configuration or is there any better version of color concentration (eg. More 420nm). Maybe I will just have to play around by myself. I may diy to test out the colors, the ecoxotic strips are ridiculously expensive for their design
  18. Did anyone see the ridiculously sized batfish at iwarna? Is it still there? And how much did it cost? It was so beautiful when I saw it
  19. I was wondering, what light wavelength brings out the best flouresence in corals. I don't mean growth though, just flouresence. I doubt that the exact same color used for growth will be used for flouresence, but I'm no expert in aquarium lighting. Also what color reflects of fish with shiny bodies best? You know, those fishes with shiny blue lines?
  20. I just realised that the reason why I have never been affected by the worms hair is because I have thicker than normal skin on my hands(due to playing cricket) so it can't penetrate the skin easily. But if what this article says is true(I'm very skepticle about it) we should just leave all the worms in the tank? IMO any worm bigger than preference is a pest to me.
  21. I thought only fireworks do that? They have gigantic bristles and are easy to differentiate from beneficial bristles
  22. they bite you? I have pulled out bristleworms with my fingers and they never inflicted any damage to them. Maybe I was just lucky a few dozen times?
  23. the pistol shrimp looked quite nice, but if land2013 doesn't like it then it's up to him!
