what is the diamension for ur 2ft. since you say it is mostly likely long term, then consider 2ft cube..... dont go for those 2ft by 1ft that kind.

better feed with linkia...... it is much more nutritious then sand star. after a long time, the shrimp might die of malnutrition. if your shrimp is small, you might want to starve it for a few days, freeze the linkia, break off the chuck that they are able to consume. this will help to save some money and prevent ammonia spike if the star died before they are consumed.

no t4 cannot just interchange to t5 without changing the eballast etc. imo t5 is better in the long run, last heat then pl. brighter than pl. longer light span then pl. if you dont need those high quality / output.... can go for cheaper alternative to T5 ........ Dymax t5 --- 30 watts for 3 ft ....
