Wahlau, Batman you are a joker Mature for someone your age Time to get married lah and be a daddy, then little Robin can join us here! Ideally everyone should be given a badge with merit and demerit points so that everybody knows who they are dealing with, in reality this doesn't exist unless we all have a microchip embedded in us and the Police can infraray all the merit and demerit points to us! As I am aware that quite a number of the reefers here are students who depends on their parents for allowances and this buy/sell section is ideal for them and this also allows them to enjoy the hobby, for all we know that the guy promise to pay but could not get his money from his parents and therefore cannot keep his promises despite his good intentions, maybe his parents also did not keep their promise to give him the money, etc etc just an illustration. In the Octo guy case, it is good that all of us are aware of the dealings with this person, this helps but then there are also a lot of bad deals, flaming, jealousy, competitors on other matters, so it is not simple to resolve, sometimes over trivial matters, like if you don't pay me I will post it in SRC, like a threat/blackmail, this is abuse of course. In a buy/sell situation it is a willing buyer and willing seller basis, full disclosure or not should not be an issue to talk about in SRC as it is the right of the buyer to do his own research and ask the right questions and make an informed decision and as a seller he will tries his best to sell even if he has to lie (some people), so you can get conned and learn from there. The conclusion is that it's a two party thing and complaints about one another should not be allowed in this forum ( this happens all the time all over the world and there is no end to it) because we all will get sucked in and spice it up without full facts, being asians, we tend to be emotional and with some young reefers who are not fully matured, will say and do all sorts of irrational things on impulse, once said, you cannot take back, the damage is done. Certainly to me it is a no no for such threads. With regards to LFS, Suppliers, Shops, Sponsors etc, not individuals, you can have a customer review section for forumers info. There should also be a Dissatisfied Customers Section for those who wants to voice their grievances here. Even in this case, customers can become unreasonable and demanding, but then the LFS can reply and explain thier position but as observers we cannot bud in except to read their replies and make your own call. All this must be done is a civilised way. Mods can give demerit points to the party who goes a bit too far. Rating is quite subjective unless you conduct a poll, even then I can vote as may times as I like or can I not, I have not tried to vote twice before! At the end of the day we as reefers must understand the purpose of this forum, to learn and share knowledge and experience in this hobby and let this be the main topic for our dicussion. -

I believe we have seen quite a number of postings with regards to failed transactions in the buy/sell section and threads exposing/flaming or informing others about his/her frustrations on certain matters which is of no concern to any of us here other than the parties involved and all a lot reefers joined in to add salt and pepper basing on the situation. In my opinion, I find this totally unnecessary as it happens between the parties concerned and we do not have full info to make any fair call or judgement on the matter. What's worse is that this is not a forum for all these. It also shows us thats ome of us are not matured enough to tell what is right or wrong, what is ethical and what is not. I would like to suggest that the forum should not allow threads of this nature with regards to personal matters like this. Otherwise this forum will lose it's focus with so many squabbles and people taking sides, you will have Team A and Team B and Team C etc. Too much emotions and bad blood are involved and that is bad for all of us who enter this forum for sharing knowledge and learning about the marine hobby. If you make a sale, you decide how you want to sell it and to whom, you make the call and live with your decision and don't cry out loud in this forum which is not meant for that. What do you guys think?

First Come First Serve basis on COD policy will eliminate all these issues, unless you know they guy well enough to take the risk, then can't complain after that.

For $35, you got your worth already la, so much symphaty from reefers here, more that 2000 hits on this thread, you are famous now, certainly it is worth more than 35 bucks. Don't be too vindictive la and run the guy down like this, learn your lesson and move on, there are better things in life than this. If you sit back and think of the last week that you have been so worked up with your adrealin flowing, certainly it's not worth it. Good luck to your collection.

Need Food Recommendation for Anthias
Marineman replied to Felix Wong's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Any meaty food will be good, Mysis, chopped prawns, home made seafood concoction etc. If they don't eat, start off with life food and slowly move to frozen food then pellets. My bartletts eat anything you give them. My other anthias (lyretail, dispar and female square dot) in another tank, just got them last week eats mysis and small pellets (Hiraki and Ocean Nutrition). I suppose they eat sweetwater plankton as well. Your Purple Anthias are hard to keep species, you can PM Roidan who has success with this beautiful anthias and ask him for his advice. -
I am using a 9watts UV, I am using a 1500L per hour pump, I guess yours may need 2500-3000LPH pump, don't think it should be based on your tank's turnover as a basis as each tank's size is different. It should be based on you wattages. ask the LFS that you bought your UV from.

Help...Pls advice is this Itch?
Marineman replied to klim's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
yes, a;so called white spots. BT is very vulnerable to this disease esp when first introduced into a new tank. You can do a FW dip a few times a day, lower the salinity to 1.09, use of UV light or a combination of all three. Looks like your cleaner wrasse is doing it's job picking on the spots. -
pls help to ID these pest shrimp
Marineman replied to Lester's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
aha, now more visible and not transparent First picture looks like those we normally eat, second pic is mantis shrimp, third pic, don't know. Anyway I don't think you want to keep these dull colour shrimps as I don't think they are good for you corals and small fishes esp the mantis. -
You don't have a choice bro, unless you want to sit there to switch on/off, otherwise how to maintain your temperature? It will spoil the chiller faster and cost you more money instead.

How do you make a nice clean silicon joint?
Marineman replied to Cardinal Tetra's topic in DIY Forum
From what I had observed, you got to silicon on 3 sides, first is the direct contact side, then the inner and outer sides. To smoothen the silicon, you can either use your finger to run through it or you bend a piece of thick paper (like the thickness of the greeting cards/name cards) and run through the joints, then use a blade to trim the sides. Looks easy but needs practice though. -
Wa.... this is a very tough job mentally! I suggest to take up acting classes to "improve" in your job!
-
I like your "periscopre" like those used in the submarines Is that your return pipe? If it is and your pump konk out, the tank's water will be emptied, right?

It is immature and unfair for someone to make a comparison like this in a public forum and ask Aqauz to explain. This is too much. Putting aside Aquaz, it is very common that a lot of the goods you buy are OEM, you can have the same factories manufacturing the same product, maybe with a slight variation for different buyers, the pricing depends on the marketing and packaging. I am sure many of us have been told by retailers "This one is exactly the same one that Toyota/IBM/Mercs/BMW etcetc use, it comes from the same factory, the only difference is the packaging but a lot cheaper" I am sure many have heard this before. In this case, the well know brands invested a lot of money in marketing and therefore charges more. On the other hand, it may be similar but not exactly the same. So to put up something like this is not right and can be subject to law suit for defamation, a bit risky if Aquaz wants to pursue further. If you want to share with us that this product is good or cheap, just show it in the thread without making a comparison like you did. It is better that way.

They do that in the US for a group of 8 or more whether you get good or bad service as the waiters' income depends on service, in some restaurants, esp chinese ones, they are not paid a salary. I am really surprise they do this in Asia, usually is 10% only.

Tomato Clown not maroon. Nice tank, seems overcrowded too i.e. too many fishes for a 2 footer.

This is only once person's view and is not representative. If you read the contents of the article carefully, it is one or two person's opinion and not every Chinese's opinion. This type of articles should be taken with a pinch of salt. A journalist can write anything, he or she can pick on just one or two negative issues and write a few pages to harp on it. I have seen Spore developed for the last 30 years beginning with focus on the industrial/manufacturing development zone, going to high tech production, the Speak Mandarin Campaign in the mid 80's to the Coutesy Campaign etc etc, I have seen youngsters then and youngsters now, their behaviour etc. All I can say is that the country is improving for the better. In an Asian country, where the population is not politically matured, it is difficult to run it iwth 100% democracy like those in the US and the UK, furthermore Asians are far more emotional and short tempered, it take years and generations to make a country more civilised through education and govt policies. Take an example, in Japan, school children are educated on environmental issues and they have specific garbage coloured bags for different type of garbage, my friend's children keeps reminding him whenever he dumps his rubbish, if you do it wrongly, the garbage collector will not collect them! If the economy is good, the govt let the private sectors take the lead, if the economy is bad like the recent Asian Crisis, the govt comes in with some big projects to spurn the economy, small country, efficient govt, easy to manage.

What's the point if what she buys does not fit in, compatibility wise, better to educate her
-
Fish, I suppose, as it is not the girlfriend. Jesper, All mother loves their children and always wants the best for them. She tries to be kind and thought buying the fish and anemone will give you a surprise and makes you happy. So you have to explain to her how you want her to be involved or not at all and explain to her not to simply buy fishes and corals and always check with you first. If she is willing to spend, ask for to pay for a bigger tank! After scolding her (understandable), I am sure she felt very bad and maybe she even cried as her son scolds her for something she did out of love for you not understanding about marine or being briefed by you. For her good intentions, I suggest you give her a big hug and say sorry to her for scolding her tonight. You can see her reaction, she will cry out of happiness. Then you explain to her about the hobby and possibly her assistance for an upgrade. You kill 2 birds with one stone. Sorry is not a difficult enough word to say, except it is less said.

Need Help on Employment Issues for Expecting Women
Marineman replied to Gouldian's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Ok, I get a clearer picture now. Some people are like that, good in sales and customer relations but not good at management job. Office politics will not really affect her as she is no threat to anyone as she is also not vying for the manager's job. In this is the case, she got nothing to worry about at the moment, just do her job, have a nice chat with the GM before she goes for maternity and return to work and see what happens. In the meantime, both of you spend more time preparing the arrival of you baby, you got to complete your shopping soon, as she gets heavier it will be a bit troublesome to go shopping for baby stuff. So relax and have fun. If this is your first kid, then you got to do research and reading on how to take care of your child, the first 3 years of the child's life are very important where 90% of the brain is formed/developed, provide as much stimulation as possible. Gppd luck and take care. Congrats!
