Can anyone ID this plant for me? It suddenly shoots up in my tank.

In reality a lot of small partime businesses does not declare their income and take the risks, this is a fact of life and if it's only peanuts, one should not be overly concerned and if it is big businesses, then better declare otherwise the authorities will go after you if you suddenly begin to buy cars, properties etc. But if it is true that less than 500k is tax free, then it makes sense for people to declare their income should they exceeds this level.

No reason why not. A receipt is a receipt as long as the receipient accepts it. The accountants will accept it though.

I suppose you can do whatever you like as long as the business you plan to do does not require a licence, if you require a license, then you are running the business as a sole proprietor as your name will be in the application form. All income and expenses relating to the business is taxable and needs to be declared. I suppose if you are in certain businesses where the sales tax applies (turnover exceeds certain amount? not sure about Spore laws), then you have to charge a sales tsx (GST). If you are not a company, you are expose to liabilities as an individual as you are operating as one. those freelancers and small biz need not pay tax actually, according to income tax rules below $500,000 annual income need not do so BUT still have to file tax form if you are a registered company. Not too sure about this, does it mean GST, I find it hard to believe any inland revenue board will allow people to have 500k income without paying tax. If you are not operating as a company or partnership or without a license, any income earned will be subject to personal tax unless you chose not to declare. The only catch is that if the business you want to do require a license, then you need to apply for one otherwise you will get a fine/jail, I believe such businesses which requires a licence are professional services or trade which are regulated by the authorities, so what you need to find out is where the business you wants to do require a licence and if you do, then you can decide if you want to register under your name or set up a company to do it. If you are running a small business with small income, thereotically, you will need to declare your income irregardless of whether you have a licence, if you make a loss, you cannot claim the loss against your income unless you have registered as a sole proprietor with a business licence, so there is no upside for you if you don't have a licence. However I am sure there are a lot of people who runs small business in the food industries, like making cookies, mooncakes etc during the festive seasons that don't declare, if your business is like this and on a small scale, it is your discretion whether you want to have a licence and declare your income or not, the onus is on you.

Caulerpa is a family name of an algae plant, they have a few species namely, grape (remosa), fern etc.

I understand that caulerpa absorbs phosphates and not nitrates.

It just shows that you don't need to have expensive equipment and corals and a big tank to make your tank look beautiful. Well done bro

Advisable to keep angels only when the tank is more mature, close to a year. I had the same problem with ich in my new fowlr, very troublesome to take out fishes without removing all the rocks, lost quite a few fishes as a result of this. my blue tang, naso and purple survived but not the powder brown.

In the first picture, you can see the "white spots" which are the remnants (skin tissue) scattered over the skeleton, from there you can see tiny bubbles beginning to appear after a few weeks. If your bubbles does not have any skin tissue left on the skeleton, then no chance of baby bubbles lah.

Depends, parts of it may die and new babies comes out, so leave it and see. It happens to my bubbles. the small babies grown bigger after the mother colony had died.

Do you know that most hobbyists who venture into this business failed? Ask Calfo or Fenner, they will confirm that. Of course some LFS take care of their livestock more than others. I have also seen some LFS really mishandled and rough on their livestock. Archer has made a point but then in the real world this does not happen, you are too idealistic, like how to take action against them etc. etc., marine lives are so fragile, no matter how much you care for them, some will die for one reason or another. Like most reefers said, if you are so pissed off, don't patronise them. To be honest there is very little you can do, I believe a lot of LFS are like that, they sell cheap and get rid of their stock fast, don't forget there are a lot of reefers out there looking for bargains and they don't mind buying from them. Only the conscientious reefer will agree and try to do some of the things you suggested, but they are far and in between.

It is not good to get direct sunlight as it heats up your tank and can give you a lot of algae problems esp if you son't have a chiller. If you want to keep corals your lighting is not good enough, how many tubes do you have? Are they for marine use? I guess you are new to this hobby, please do some reading at www.wetwebmedia.com to find answers to a lot of your potential questions and if you don't understand or get confused, you can ask fellow reefers in this forum, easier that way for all of us to help you.

Low to moderate lighting and low current, can tolreate more light and current that the discosoma species (smooth skin type). Not necessary to do direct feeding.

Wow, it certainly took me a while to read the background! They are pressuring AT to host a joint seminar with them so that they can benefit to promote their products more effectively since SRC has a big following. They certainly have vested interest (to promote their products). PERIOD. Of course it is good to host a joint seminar so that reefers don't have to split, but then the topics and agenda is not clear and so are the speakers. It may also take a whole day, and what happens if Calfo is asked by a reefer about their products and he is not comfortable to give his endorsement (sure to happen), then how? We all know Anthony Calfo and we know he is here to give a talk to the hobbyist and he has no vested interest. To hold the separate events on separate nights would be good for the reefing community, looks like true hobbyist will attend the Calfo seminar as we all know what it will be all about! MPD said there is no freedom of speech, LFS refused to carry certain products etc etc, to me, is all nonsense. The LFS will carry the product as long as they can make a good profit, the higher the profit the harder they push for it. In this internet age, MPD is very naive to say that Sporeans are suppressed by the products available locally and deprived of good info....good lord, he think we still live on trees? I like to share one example here, the marine scene is very far behind in Malaysia compared to Spore, because there is a demand by reefers for quality products like skimmers, T5, cyclopeeze etc (very basic stuff in Spore) but not available until recently, the LFS has no choice but to bring them in as more and more reefers wants them. This is purely economics, supply and demand. If SRC does not want to work with them, it is their prerogative. We hobbyist just got to decide which seminar to attend. It seems that the choice is starightforward to me..........I can't attend both ........as I am in KL Maybe I will show up and give a surprise, afterall I know Calfo too

Congrats, you have make a right decision to move on, shows that you have a clear head. I suppose like any beginner we are always conscious of what others say esp negative remarks, it hurts and some of us are too sensitive to take shots like that. So we have to be thick skin, if you don't like their comments, in one ear out the other. I remembered the time when I started my golf in the driving range, not wanting to bring 10 clubs to the range, I took the longest iron (3) and the shortest iron (sand), I was so conscious of other golfers watching me that I dare not look around, I started with the sand as it is easy to use, so when I changed over to the 3 iron, I did not adjust my position (self conscious of people watching, in fact nobody gives a damn!), I whack the ball, missed and broke the shaft, the club head flew to the front and I am still holding the handle.............even more embarassed as everyone actually looked to see the Ironman in action!

I am also a good guy you know, give away corals, used MH, new T5s because I get them free , pumps, give away part of my pellets and mysis bought overseas etc. etc except that I don't live in Spore Of course if I have excess and have no use for them.
