  1. I believe it is salt spray cause by pumps, if leak, the tank would have been empty. Are your lights covered with salt? If it is it has to do with either your fishes keeps jumping on the water surface for food or mist caused by water movements, like those of an airstone.
  2. Agreed with you. With regard to charging fees, if under warranty, defects if not through mishandling will be rectified by the manufacturer FOC. However the owner will have to pay for transportation costs if any, unless he brings it to the manufacturer's factory. If not used at all and the warranty period had expired, then this depends on the goodwill of the manufacturer as they are no longer obligated to perform the service for free. However it cannot be FOC after warranty period had expired. If customer is willing to pay, then manufacturer must fix it, no question about that. In this particular case, I think the manufacturer should help out FOC out of goodwill rather than an obligation as it was purchased a while ago.
  3. Quite commom occurence in new set up. What I suggest you to do is siphon out the red slime diligently, after a while they will go away. If you want to do it quick, use Red Slime remover, but make sure your skimmer is on and watch out for the skimmate for the first few hours as the skimmer will work overtime and you need to empty the cup quite often. Use carbon when you are using the RS remover.
  4. Yes, DSB with macroalgae (caulerpa) attached on LR. A refugium should be full of macroa algae and not LR.
  5. If this is a business policy, I think you need to rethink about it seriously. Afterall it is your product, your brand, more users, more goodwill, more business, more referals, add value as manufacture will always help out even on resale items etc. I think any manufacturer should assist and help out customers in situations like this, it gives your company a better name in customer service. You may want to charge for your such services and let the owners decide if they want it or not. Take a Toyota or Mercs, it's always a Toyota or Mercs, they will fix it for you, it doesn't matter who is the owner, first, second or third etc etc. Afterall they charge for their services, (you should) so that people will continue to buy your product. Otherwise who is going to buy something where the manufacturer does not fully support resale items?? That means "no resale value". If your company is thinking of more new sales by not going all out to service your resale products, then I think it is shortsighted. Anyway, I am giving my opinion and not meant to discredit your company in any way. Your company's policy is your prerogative but as an outsider, we can give comments which we think it is beneficial to all parties, the manufacturer and their customers. In any businesses, Customers are King, sounds familiar?
  6. The lighting meter is not cheap, cost more than S$300 in KL. Normally just change your MH bulbs between 9-12 months, if you are rich and can afford, 6 months is recommended, for fluorescent, can last more than 12 months, for atinic, as long as you wish as it has minimum effect on your corals.
  7. I can't get Deltec or ATI in Malaysia, I suppose they are a lot more expensive. Afterall I am using MH, T5 is only complementary, so no point paying a lot more for it, I don't mind a BMW instead of a ferrari, as I already own a private jet, so to speak.
  8. I run my 3 ft Aquaz T5 Atinic for 13 hours a day since June last year, still running as of now. My other 8 pcs of 4 ft Aquaz T5 been running 9 hours a day since January, still OK. Atinic still bright as before, I have not notice any diff in the 4 ft, may change all in another 6 months time since I don't have any light loving corals in this tank.
  9. Very unusual, find it hard to believe that the prata is strong enough to pull a lively fish into it's mouth and furthermore the prata is not known to release toxic to net or sting it's prey. I believe there are other reasons to it.
  10. Listen to Daniel Beddingfield's song, "If You Are Not The One"...............
  11. The bigger dottybacks species will eat shrimps but not the smaller species like sunrise, orchid, royal, etc. Look at it's size and mouth in comparision to the shrimp as a guide.
  12. As the Comedian, Russell Peters said, if you get married, you have ONEgina, if you are not, you can have many Ginas!
  13. Do not keep angels fishes until your tank is matured for them to have a better chance of surviving. AT, Bi colour, PBT and white cheek are not easy to keep.
  14. In a way it's true, she may be doing it for her husband or boyfriend or she is obsessed with fishes like some of our fellow reefers who thought of bringing back fishes from Thailand, Hk or Indonesia. So think twice before you do it, you may end up in hot soup
  15. I have seen them fight in a LFS, locked jaw. If you want 2, get a male and female.
  16. Your failure is not doing sufficient research and reading before you buy. Butterfly and angel fishes are not meant for beginners and especially for a new tank start up. I suggest you do some reading in www.wetwebmedia.com, then you will get a better picture. Always look for compatability among fish/coral/inverts and do some research on that particular livestovk before buying.
  17. Does it really matters? If you are OK with it and she is OK with it, it doesn't matter, most important it's compatability. I have a friend who finished up to 6th Form and is a successful businessman, he married a girl who holds a senior position in a big comapny and is a 1st Class degree holder, now she is a housewife looking after the kids. So if you don't mind and she doesn't mind then it doesn't matter who minds. If you have this inferiority complex, then don't bother to even date a girl who is more successful than yourself otherwise this will haunt you forever evethough she doesn't mind. Just imagine she has to entertain her clients, you will be damn jealous and feel so insecure and starts to questions her what she did, who she went out with etc etc, this will piss her off, then the relationship will collapse. Inferiority complex will make you feel more insecure in such a relationship. Don't forget, nobody can force you to do what you don't want to do and do not let external factors control your feelings. Sometimes we worry too much about what others think unnecessary. In fact money talks in most relationships, lieterate or not is not important, money is. How many times we have seen rich Ah Bengs married beautiful girls, big house, big cars, plenty of money to throw etc. Young girls go for fun and love and not money, girls over 30 is more appreciative if you got money, looks is secondary. This is reality.
  18. I suppose we be practical over this, if the fish is big like a tang, better to take it out if you can see it, mostly you can take big fishes out easily, for small fishes like damsels, it's Ok if you have prawns and other scavengers. I have seen many big fishes MIA without a trace. Better to take it out if you can but if it is too troublesome like needing you to remove a lot of LR or rescape then forget it.
  19. Wow! still looks so colourful Great looking tank, post some close ups when you find time!
  20. Maybe insufficient lighting, what ;ights are you using? and what corals are you keeping?
  21. You look very familiar, can't recalled where I saw you...............with some young boys.
