  1. Yes, I am using a light meter to measure the lumens. I do not have many LED to test with though. Many LED are available in the market esp those made in China for general lighting, not sure if they are the same specs as those used for marine. Need to measure the intensity for those used for general lighting and those used for marine as the latter pricing are more pricey.
  2. Dun worry about it bro. Honkit is big and strong man with strong views and he meant no harm Whatever lighting used can be successful in keeping SPS, lighting alone is not the answer as it depends on many other factors and diff people have diff preferences, maintenance methods, use of additives etc etc. It's a combination of factors, LED works well for you but not for all. You have showed us LED works for you and some reefers my try it out and succeed while some may fail as I said it depends on many factors and not lighting alone. In my case, I use MH becos of the glittering effect, I measured the lumens of LED and MH, the answer is obvious, I used MH becos my water quality is not perfect and the light penetration is reduced becos of this. If your water quality is perfect, LED may work for you. So each case is different and reefers should make their own evaluation and assessment before trying out new ideas, it may or may not work for you. It's good that you share your experiences with us here. I am sure there are other reefers have successes with LED used for SPS tank as the technology in LED has improved over the years and they are easily available in the LFS. Perhaps we should conduct a poll on the use of LED and get some feedback from those using it.
  3. Dun waste your time and money, I am not impressed with it. When I read about it and saw some photos from the internet I thought this is a must visit aquarium and I was very disappointed with what saw when I was there last year. No better than those in KL, Sentosa, Sydney or BKK aquaria., a pale comparison to those in the USA, like Monetery Bay or SF Aquarium.
  4. Yalor, your atinic T5s in your culture tanks is a fine example of success using just atinic lights. I suggest you can use LED to cut your electriicity bill to achieve the same effects. Not sure if that is feasible as LED lights are quite expensive? May use many LED torch lights or study lamp lights which you can purchase from the pasar malams!
  5. LED, T5 or MH will be suitable for any SPS as long as you keep only a few fishes and your water quality is excellent. Whatever lighting you use will not be able to sustain an SPS tank if your water quality is not there. The answer is obvious............
  6. Bloody awesome! You always tempt me to spent my savings! lol
  7. There are instructions on the dosage. Skimmer off during the duration of dosing which can take weeks. Anyone knows how much they are selling and where to get them?
  8. Hi Cedric,

    Very2 nice frags you have!

I am interested in a few but I am from KL, do you have an email for me to get in tough with you?

    mine is danielkss@gmail.com

Hope to hear from you soon.

  9. That is true. Everytime I do a water change and/or replace the cotton filters, you need to tweak your skimmer a little after it stabilises
  10. Chances are they are dead if you dun see them for a while. Depending on what fishes you are keeping, some fishes likes to hide by nature but not the fishes (tangs) u mentioned. If they hide, the signs are that they are stressed becos they are bullied by other fishes. When they hide, the signs are not good and they will generally starve to death. Fish dies for many reasons, some fishes have high mortality rate i.e they do not survive well in capitivity (like cleaner wrasse, most butterfly fishes etc), if hardy fishes to die, a few reasons are that they are stressed becos they have not been properly acclimatise, if they are caught using cynide, they will die over a few weeks. So do some research on fishes before buying to see if they are the hardy type (easier to keep), some fishes find it hard to survive in new aquariums, preferring matured ones (>9thhs) with some algae for them to peck on. Most fishes can tolerate imperfect water parameters unless it is way off. Do you now that some fishes release ttoxis when they die? If u dun, pls check out.
  11. Hi Guys, Sometime last year I did mentioned that I plan to set up a new tank and asked for comments, attached is the link to my new tank. The corals are quite commos corals as we Malaysian always get second class corals becos our currency is weaker! Me no IT expert so got to link to one posting instead of post again, a lot of work la! http://chuisui.com/viewthread.php?tid=7841&page=1
  12. Below is one of my friend's tank, he is the one who bought the Clarion ANgel from LCK a while back. http://chuisui.com/viewthread.php?tid=8845...age=1#pid254244
  13. Does this means that if I am using a CR I do not need to bother with dosing the tank with alkalinity buffer?
