  1. Yeah... I have to agree... API test kit is a waste of time as it is always 0 and the colour don't match any on the card Since I am using Red Sea was also considering PO4 & NO3 test kits from them. Any comments? Thank you.
  2. Just did a test before water change. API reef master test kit Calcium 460ppm ALK 12-13 dKH Phosphate 0 Nitrate 0 Ammonia 0 PH 8.2/8.4 Salinity 1.024 Red Sea reef foundation test kit Calcium 420ppm ALK 10.6 dKH Magnesium 1520ppm 2 weeks ago, the ALK was around 7 so I started to supplement it. I had also changed my salt mix from Red Sea Salt to Red Sea Coral Pro Salt (also 2 weeks ago). I witness majority of the corals are looking good with PE.
  3. What is stn? slow tissue necrosis? I have been supplementing ALK recently and that helped "revived" one of the dying frag (my earlier posting). Could this caused this SPS to die?
  4. Need some advise... Is this SPS bleaching? Is it bad? What should I do?
  5. Yeah, I found out the hard & expensive way... seems like shrimps are more "fragile" then fishes.
  6. Noted. When I added the berghia, the first thing it did was NOT to eat the aiptasia but lay eggs! Will wait and see if the aiptasia will reduce...
  7. Thank you for the advise. Will keep a look out for any more eggs. So far none found. Just added 2 berghia nudibranches in hope to reduce the aiptasia. This time did 5.5 hours of drip until the salinity is same as my tank. Thereafter float for 15-20 minutes to sync the temperature. (Don't want them to end up like the peppermint shrimps) Fingers cross... now can only wait and hope for the best...
  8. Yeah, I think you are right. I had done a freshwater dip for my Zoa colony and manually removed some egg sacs. I don't think my zoas can take another dip so soon.
  9. Can anyone help me ID what nudibranch is this? Is it good or bad? I suspect it is the murderer of the sunflower zoanthid.
  10. Greatly appreciated, I'm leaving chemical as my final option. Not a lot but all my LR has some. It will retreat into the rock if I try to catch it.
  11. Final death toll ... All 3 dead shrimps. I did 1 hour of drip. (LFS say no need just add them in) what did I do wrong?
  12. Okay, I will go for the peppermint shrimps. Hope it works on the aiptasia.
  13. Is that (tube worm) good or bad? Yeah, familiar (WINK)... If I get a copperband butterfly to eat Aiptasia, will it (tube worm) be eliminated?
  14. Need some help, can anyone identify what is in the picture below. It is "growing" in one of the branch from my SPS colony. Is it a tube worm?
  15. I see... berghia nudibranchs (suggested by Admiraltian) seems to be the best solution. May I know if there are any side effects? Anyone know where I can get them?
  16. Thanks, I think copperband may not be ideal for my small tank. I read in some posting peppermint shrimp... Any comments?
  17. Okay, I can leave them there. Just worried that they will starve as there are NOTHING except cheatos in my refugium.
  18. May I know if these are serpent sea stars? (sorry for the poor focus) They have 5 tentacles and each move move like a snake. Their body is red and white stripped (like zebra crossing). Are they good for a reef/marine tank? Currently, they are with my cheatos in the refugium.
  19. Just to add, not sure if it was the pods that "ate" my sunflowers. Before they vanished I found pods crawling over it.
  20. Previously, my 3 polyp "sunflower" zoanthid mysteriously disappeared. Recently, I noticed my zoanthid colony losing "tentacles". Yesterday, I noticed 1 polyp of my "bam bam" zoanthid had been bitten. Started googling and found out that there are a type of snail "nudibranch" that eats zoanthid. After finding out how it look like (snail with spikes), I found them on my zoanthid colony. Just performed a freshwater dip on the colony. Hope the colony survived and NOT the "nudibranch".
  21. Yeah, you are right. It only nibbles on the live rocks. It did a great job and keeping certain (green carpet algae) type of the algae "trimmed".
  22. Tried mysis shrimp for the yellow tang. Totally not interested. However, the little crab hosting on the pocci loved it. Saw a button polyp closed up when it got caught in the tentacles. Guess my yellow tang is strict vegetarian.
  23. Noted, that leaves me with snail or starfish. Hmm.. Where can I find them?
