  1. Updates... Algae continue to bloom... Added a new frag (Fire & Ice).
  2. You may like to check out Aquamarin again. I saw a few (crocea/maxima) yesterday. The price is affordable (< $100).
  3. Hi, Recently, I got some SPS but have no idea what are they. Would appreciate if anyone can ID them. Want to know more so I can care for them better. See pictures below. Thank you.
  4. Base on the instruction you are not suppose to mix for more then 2 hours (I think). It will become milky initially when you add the salt to the water. After mixing for 30minutes ~ 60 minutes it will become clear. Most convenient to use a power head to mix it.
  5. Updates... 1. Did a trimming of the algae today... 2. Changed lime wood airstone and filter wool... 3. Removed 2 frags that was not doing well... Below is the picture of the frags that has multiplied (can compare with my previous posting). Unfortunately, I don't know how to capture with the actinic (blue) lights on... The zoanthids looks best in blue (actinic) lights.
  6. Sorry, don't understand your question. Like I suggested anti siphon hole is a cheap and easy way to prevent siphon occurring in your return.
  7. Just a thought, why not just buy an overflow box (~$130) that can handle 5000 litres per hour and you can have a powerful return. If your tank is 190 litres(round up 200), it will be 5000/200=25 times water turnover. Get yourself a 2500-3500 litres per hour return pump and you can achieve the minimum 10 times water turnover. Just drill an anti siphon hole in your return to prevent reverse siphon when your return stop. If you find it noisy maybe adding a normal (air) check valve to the anti siphon hole should do the trick.

  9. Thank you, actually I don't feed as there are no fish or other invertebrates (unless they come with the live rock).
  10. There are quite a fair number of stomatella in it but this 8 litre tank is too small to add CUC like urchin. Some frags has grown more polyps where others has reduced.
  11. Yes, I did and observed significant reduction is algae growth. I put it in a small filter bag in one of the IOS compartment.
  12. I bought them from Fantasy Corals(sponsor). Got it at a special package price(cannot remember exact amount).
  13. Thanks... So far so good. See below picture and compare with the previous post picture.
  14. Sharing my 3 days old (in my tank) clam. Noticed the colour is very different when looking though the tank glass (vs from top). Through tank glass From top down
  15. How does the grading work? Is it related to the price or color? What are the types of grading? Is there different grading for different types of Tridacna Gigas clams (Crocea, Maxima, Derasa, Squamosa)? Is "teardrop", "electric", "ultra", "first"...etc clam grades? Pardon me for the questions cause I got confused by google.
  16. The air does not reach the impeller and there will be no bubble every time I restart the skimmer after maintenance (cleaning the collection cup). I had to "prime the skimmer" by blowing into the air intake tube for a few seconds before bubbles start to appear. I have been doing this every time I restart the skimmer. I did not have this issue when it was new. Is this normal? Does anyone have the same problem? BTW, I am using Skimz SM121.
  17. Yes, it is a montipora. I am keeping my fingers crossed hoping it may cone back.
  18. This is the picture of the same frag taken when the tank lights are on. Notice the polyp extension has reduced significantly.
