Bro, Thanks for your reply on the Yuma etc. I may just give it another try sometime. And wow, your Coral Beauty photo is fantastic. It's almost like a cartoon character.
-
Bro, it's a gorgeous Yuma. I love them but they usually shrink and disappear over time in my aquarium. They like high nutrients environment? And I love the rich colours of your fishes and corals captured in your FTS. What's that coral on the left side? Is it a hammer? What lights are you using because I seemed to see a rainbow spectrum of lights all over your aquarium.

Bro James, Thanks for the reply. You said tube worms is a good sign. Is it because the filter feeding action improves circulation around the rocks or what? I don't understand. So your suggestion is to leave them alone?
-
Bro, Thanks for the advice. I have considered a Copperband Butterfly before but it's not reef safe. That's why I'm fretting.

I have a number of small tubeworms (grow to almost an inch long) that started growing in my aquariums. Initially they look cute to me so I left them alone. At first, they appeared from crevices between the rocks, then gradually moved on to the sand bed and even started growing amongst or between corals such as zoas. They seemed to be overtaking my aquarium now and I believe they spread so fast due to my excessive feeding. I am sure some of our bros out there faced this problem before and I would appreciate if someone can advise how I can remove or control them through introduction of some fishes or invertebrates that eat them. Thanks in advance!

I tried once and all 4 died from starvation too. I am still harbouring dreams of keeping a tankful of a variety of seahorses and am still keen to try if there is a solution to the feeding problem. This makes me wonder how the commercial display aquariums worldwide e.g. Underwater World, keep them alive and breeding. They must know or have something we don't.

Bro, Cool DIY overflow you have got there. I see you are really innovative. Do you have any foolproof precautions in place in case the overflow pipe breaks siphon? Thanks.
-
Bro, How do you connect the main tank to the sump? Any photos to show it? Do you have any Green Star Polyps, Zoas, Clam and mushrooms? I think these are interesting and adds variety to the aquariums. As for fishes, I just love clown fishes. Thanks.
-
Good job bro firestarter. Perhaps you can share what you did these 6 months to get these sps to recover? I'm sure this will benefit anyone with bleached sps. Thanks.
-
Bro Tofubox, Congrats on the new acquisition! With your planning and meticulous nature, I'm sure this would be the best of the three aquariums and look forward to see your updates!

Your aquarium is absolutely gorgeous. I love the sps, growth and how your gsp is growing up the side of the tank. Amazing!
-
I think you should post this elsewhere and not at the product review section.

For softies and lps that are not light demanding, this should be fine. The colour of the clams may not be vibrant enough though. But with the MH, it should be more than sufficient although it may seemed like an overkill. By the way, I'm curious why you use MH and LED together because they are often used independently of each other. All the best.

Which fish is a must have to supplement your lps beauty?

Flame Angel! How many fishes can match it's unparalleled beauty and colours? -
Yours Zoas garden is so awesome! It's like a kaleidoscope of rainbow coloured Zoas.

Bro, Your last post was a year ago. Nice tank and layout of corals. Maybe it's time for you to strip everything apart and rescape before introducing back the fishes you want? That way, your pioneers will be as disoriented as the new ones and have to establish new territories to guard? By the way, your corals looked a bit washed out from past photos. What lights are you using? Good luck.

I guess it's not hard to guess when you start something new, you do it with the same unyielding commitment, dedication and perseverance! Well done. Your employer must be very fortunate to have you as a staff.
-
This one pretty much sums it all. Yes, you may not be the first or the only one, but I must say your years of commitment, dedication and experimenting are commendable, inspirational and won a lot of my respect.

I love the small sleek design of the CherryAqua Nano LED but there are a number of limitations, which are listed here: - it's possibly only good enough for small pico tanks less than a foot all around because coverage is limited if compared to say the Maxspect Razor Nano, - light output is not good enough for sps, - height of lightset is not adjustable, - lighting levels are not programmable, and - light set can be very hot.

I believe those with an effective algae turf scrubber (ATS) manage to do away with a skimmer because the algal mat helps to export out most of the undesirable waste products.
-
I feel you bro. The constant monitoring and high expenses is making me worried. This is really a time consuming and expensive hobby. It's like a bottomless pit and I hope it all pays off in the end. It's not like property where we can sell everything off at an appreciating price.

How is it going? Have you found what you wanted? What lights you need would depend on what you intend to keep. If it's just fishes, soft corals and some lps, a simple set of lights may be sufficient for some time before you decide to invest in better lights for higher light demanding corals and sps. Good luck.

Depending on the size of your tank, waves or currents can be created with the use of waver makers, power heads or internal or external filters etc. So what is the size of your nano? What wave maker did you use?

Maxspect Razor 160K Enough for a 3x2x2ft Tank?
reef garden replied to anmiheng's topic in Product Reviews
The T5 is typically used to bring out the colours of the corals. And no, the 2 feet tube ballast cannot support the 3 feet tubes. Otherwise everyone will try to do that to save money. You can decide on using either 2 feet or 3 feet depending on the coverage you want and height that you are hanging the lights. All the best. -
I see. I love both royal gramma and orchid dottyback. It's good to have breeding pairs.
