I got a piece each from Ah Beng and GO and a mat type from AM. I was selective so I had to visit them a few times before I got what I really wanted. All are very nice but GO's price was really cut throat, in my opinion.

Bro, Unlike a 1 feet cube tank, the flow in a large tank is extremely important to corals. Generally speaking, adequate flow has been documented to improve coral growth and health and polyps extension etc because the currents facilitate gaseous exchange, wastes removal and deliver food and nutrients to them. When I saw your initial setup where the overflow and wave maker were on the left, I was concerned that the flow around the right area would likely be very bad with lots of dead zones. Now that you shifted the overflow to the right, it improves the flow by pushing water from the left to the right. However, I'm not certain that the single wave maker is powerful enough to drive all the water along the entire length to the overflow side. I suggest you relook at how the flow can be improved eg. put overflow in center and add another wave maker on right so that water is circulated from both directions towards the center. You will find nuisance algae eg. Cyanobacteria, growth occurs most often in dead zones and low flow areas. Just my humble opinion for your consideration. By the way, I love your setup, scape and lights and can't wait to see the final product.

The refugium works via an air pump, which lifts and siphon water with the air from the main tank to the refugium. How fast the water flows depend on the capacity of the air pump.

Both were bought on the same day and released together. Initially they were fine then the blue turned on yellow. Sad!

Bro, any updates on your new tank eg. list of livestock? How's the overflow doing and are your wave makers too strong? Are your PAR38 lights sufficient to provide the lighting for your corals?

If your intention is to showcase the fishes, then I feel your artificial corals are too colorful and take attention away from the fishes. I can't really tell what fishes you have although I think I see a clownfish, a damsel and a cardinal. You also need not have lights that are too powerful for corals. Lights that highlight your fishes are good enough.

Your 34l tank looks bigger than the size given. It's interesting and would you be able to list down your livestock ie. fishes, corals, and equipment? I am keen to know how many fishes and corals you can pack into this pico tank.

Have you given up on reefing or upgraded to a bigger one? It's a waste if you have given up reefing because I think it's headed in the right direction to become better!

Royston, It's amazing your list of corals is long and yet there is space in the tank to add more corals! Do you run an external canister filter only because there is no mention of it anywhere? Is there enough flow in the tank? Do you get algae on your satellite box because mine has an unsightly film at the inlet, walls, base and outlet? If yes, how often do you clean it? How long do you turn the lights on for your refugium? I used to have 10 Sexy Shrimps for about 3 months but they disappeared altogether within a few days.

Are the green patches in the sand algae? I'm asking because I'm interested to know with the bioload from your 2 Tangs and fishes and the use of your biopellet reactor, do you still battle with algae and if so, what's your water change regime?

It depends on what you are using the FR for? A simple plug and play one is TLF phosban reactor 150 but you have to get your own pump.

I'm currently trying it in a HOB filter without air stone. Let's see if it works. If not I will try another method with air stone.

Do you have FTS photos to share? Is the wave maker blowing directly at your mushrooms and don't they get dislodged?

Any updates on your tank? The problem with a bare bottom is anything that is not sucked into the filter sinks to the bottom. If there are dead zones with poor circulation, then the detritus and algae would surely be unsightly. You also have a blue tang that alone increases the bioload considerably. Unless you solve the flow and nutrient export issue, you will always be plagued with these problems.

Are there any lfs which sells more affordable captive bred seahorses? I bought 4 in February from a lfs in Chinatown and they all refused to eat. 3 have since died and I think the last one won't last too long. Unless it's captive bred ones, I don't want to buy them anymore.

The algae looks very pale. Is it receiving enough hours of light? Be careful in case it turns sexual.

I gather that the cyborg yeast comprises yeast and titanium to form a living cum synthetic product that is able to grow at different rates, depending on the availability of nitrates and phosphates. Bacteria are not mentioned in the original Orca Labs description although Fresh 'N' Marine mentioned it. The absorption and conversion of nitrates and phosphates by the cyborg yeast into biomass are apparently oxygen demanding processes and release carbon dioxide. For freshwater systems, aquatic plants benefit from the carbon dioxide. Any biomass and excess carbon dioxide would likely be removed via water changes. For lightly stocked tanks, the amount used is more, supposedly to provide more cyborg yeast to grow the colony faster and keep the process going. This is just my understanding.
