Your suns are absolutely gorgeous.
-
Beautiful. Have you tried the yellow and black suns. I wonder when I can find the time to have a tank solely for them.
-
I was at Qian Hu at Jalan Lekar today but they didn't have any resun chiller. They only have the TECO chiller.
-
You have amazingly beautiful montis! Well done. I'm looking to collect montis recently but haven't seen any lfs selling them. Where are things when you want them?
-
You have beautiful Zoas, corals etc. Is the 4th photo a Sympodium coral and how is it doing? Can let me know where you bought it?

Ocean Flowerbed - The 31x31x36 (cm) nano tank
reef garden replied to gingerwrasse's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Strangely, while I have seen the sexies walking all over my Zoas, I had never seen them picking the skirts or munching the Zoas or my Clove Polyps, GSPs etc. Maybe I feed them too much. -

It's a beautiful pistol shrimp. Get a compatible goby to pair up with it. -
Ocean Flowerbed - The 31x31x36 (cm) nano tank
reef garden replied to gingerwrasse's topic in Members Tank & Specs
If the sexies are well fed, it shouldn't be a problem. I used to have 10 of them in a 27 liters tank with a pom pom crab and other corals without any problems, until my newly introduced wrasse made a meal out of them. -
The beamswork LED light is definitely not good enough for you to keep sps. You need to get something more appropriate eg. Maxspect Razor Nano. I think a minimum is the Green Element MHX sets, which may not even be enough, available at East Ocean Aquatic. You can check out the link below: http://www.oceanaquarium.co.uk/products/green-element-mhx/

Your big tank parameters are likely different from that of your small tank. Hence it is still trying to adapt to the new tank conditions.

I love the rock scape, lights, twin clowns and Zoas garden too. -
Your sps are just recovering and you still need to manage the nutrients and algae issues. Let your aquarium reach equilibrium first. The last thing you should do is to add more stuff, such as Tangs with high bioload, to upset the entire system. Resist the temptation to stock anything until the problems are well under control. Good luck.

You have such a breathtaking collection of sps and yumas.

Didn't your bf warn you not to add livestock until water is cycled or add so much livestock in a week in a 34 litre tank? With the ammonia and nitrite spikes, your tank is likely going to crash and you will lose some of the precious livestock. Be patient and you will be rewarded. -
How big and how much is gsp and collect where?
-
You can consider the Tunze 9004 skimmer which also skims away the surface layer and you can order the skimmers from Fresh 'N' Marine online and they will deliver it to you.

Can these injured corals be restored?
reef garden replied to clownfish_forever's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Which makes me wonder, how do so many reefers have such beautiful Zoas and keep them multiplying? What's the secret? Can any successful Zoas keeper bros care to enlighten us? -

Your green mushrooms might have bleached from the high light (is your maxspect razor new or did you change timing etc?) and recent hot weather that causes the water temperature to rise too high, especially if you do not have a chiller. If they are completely bleached, they no longer have any zooxanthellae and will always look sickly since they can no longer make their own food. If there's still some zooxanthellae, they will recover if conditions improve. You can temporarily move it into the shade. The hammer coral probably has brown jelly disease that will spread to other healthy corals. I would throw it away if I were you. But if you want to try to save it, you can dip it in Lugol's solution and see if it improves. If it continues to melt, throw it away immediately. A hammer that I bought from GO previously had 2 heads. One head melted in my office aquarium but the remaining one survived. As for Zoas, their reaction could be due to the high nitrates although I doubt so. Do a water change, dose iodine and place it nearer the light to see if it recovers. If there is presence of Zoa eating nudibranchs, pick the pests out, dip the Zoas and monitor again. Good luck. -
Sea horse and pipefish can go together but they can't go with all others because they are slow and specialized feeders that need a tank of their own. For a newbie, my advice is not to go for sea horse and pipefish. They are just not for beginners. Try them only when you are more experienced. Read the threads on sea horse and pipefish and you will understand why. Have fun.

Don't try sun coral unless you are prepared to target feed it almost daily.

Bro, I don't think the boyu skimmer is effective enough if you are keeping fishes (I saw 3 fishes) and corals. As for the dymax filter, what is the flow rate? The beamswork LED is not sufficient to illuminate your entire tank, but if you are not keeping the light demanding photosynthetic corals or are keeping non-photosynthetic corals, then you can probably just get by with it. Otherwise, you need to upgrade your lights. By the way, how frequent is your water change?
