Just an update to any folks who needs the info. I bought the output tube from madpetz. O-ring u need to order from petmart or iwarna. I only call up this 2. The rest of the lfs might have but I didn't enquire.

Bro which gravel vac u use? I bought the mr cleaner one. It's battery operated and pretty useless. I thought of the Eheim one but its rather pricey.

Hi all, My sandbed is full of brown stuff. Looking at beefing up my clean up crew. DT is a 2 ft cube. Currently only 1 turbo snail. The other died. And 2 cleaner shrimp. What else can I add, sand bennies, sea cucumber, sand star and sand dollar are some I shortlisted. By the way, is sea urchin and sea cucumber venomous? How to handle them? They look nasty. Sorry for the newbie questions.

Hi all, I got a 2nd hand di unit crystal pro. The output tube kind of disintegrated due to age and wear and tear. Can I buy those co2 tubes from lfs? Or do I need to purchase specific crystal pro replacement parts? Thabks

Hi everyone, Was wondering if any one will be able to provide some help. I'm installing a crystal pro rodi unit in my bathroom. However, I'm having problems with the connection. Attached are pics of the faucet I'm using and the adapter that came with the unit. They don't fit. I'm pretty sure the faucet I brought from homefix is standard as my water spray jet uses the same size. I'm attaching to the right most connector as in the pic. The yellow hose adapter from the unit seems to big. And also, there is only one yellow input hose and one output hose. No outlet for waste water? I placed carbon, di then di cartridge. Is that the right way? Thanks!

Hi guys, I have some extra liverock that am not sure where to place in the sump. Currently place in refugium but the chaeto not tumbling because of this. Should I place them at the inlet compartment? The skimmer compartment too cramp to put the rocks. The return pump area may not be a good choice too. As it may impede the return pump functioning? Or should I just remove them altogether.

Thanks guys for all the responses. I will try to post pics if sump and dt. I have narrowed down to the following after digesting all your valuable inputs. - the LR may not be the cause as its been almost 2 months and coralline is growing. - large die off is not likely, the last dead LS was like months ago. The body probably broken down now. NH4 and NO2 in good readings. - I have rescape to allow better viewing and flow. No more walled city. LOL. Rescape was like after my 90% WC 2 weeks ago. So no chance of decomposing matter hidden in some spots. - WC NSW tested high. So naturally, change how much water also high. But disclaimer here, it could be just that batch. I purchase more NSW and the test readings are pretty low. It's possible it's inconsistent due to multiple reasons. I'm not putting down NSW, in fact I am a supporter but the intent of the whole episode is I want to reduce no3, it's not meant as a NSW VS di saltmix stance. Currently, I put chaeto in my DSB refugium. I have dump some excess LR in it too. I have seachem denitrate in the compartment housing the skimmer. Low flow here. I started using AZ-NO3. In day 5 now, have not test and water not cloudy and skimmer not skimming any hugh amount of gunk as expected. Will do the next change with DI + saltmix and monitor. Will update all with the results.

Ya, perhaps I'll just set up 1 unit. I thought of engaging plumber to fix an extra tap in the toilet and pull get electrician to fix a power point so I run the powerhead. So troublesome. So toying with the idea of every week just lug in 2 x 25litre jelly can of rodi water and dump in a storage container may be simplier. Lol.
-
I still contemplating between buying a unit or just buying water from farms. Anyone knows How much will 25litre jelly can of ro di water cost ? And where can I buy those big drum I think 250 litre? Can I pop a powerhead in it and keep for a prolong period say 2 months?

I didn't buy the PO4 Test kit. SG is 1.023 with the refractor. I tested the NSW also. Same.... Also dark pink! Can't be leh. 2 kits also tio bad stock? Don't believe it, I will buy another kit.

Guys, just an update. Didn't had time to post. After 50% wc, nitrates was tested immediately and looks ok. So next day tested again. Went up to the dark pink salifert no3 result again. Recently this week, can't take it, do a massive 90% change with nsw. Tested that very night and its still dark pink. Use 2 different sets of salifert same result. Ammonia and no2 is zero.... I'm lost. I'm suspecting I previously poured hot water over 2 LR. It's been like 2 months back and the LR is in the tank... Could they be leaching no3? Coralline has already start to built up on these rocks.

Wow, looks like need a spare tap to hook up the system. CO's gonna frown upon it.

Hi guys, I thought of setting up a rodi unit. Plenty of info I have been researching but not much on the setup. May I know if I get one unit, is it diy installation or the merchant I buy from will install for me? Coz if DIY, I may have problem. Lol. Also, any running cost( besides buying the replacement resin) like high water bills or high electricity bills to worry about? Thanks

Try the glass and market prawn method. I got mine out that way. Second night then got it. Be patient. Off the lights all the way and don't feed. Well, don't know if the lights and feeding helps but hey, I got mine that way.... Cheers

Did more then 50% water change. Nitrates going down.... Thanks for all the valuable advices.,,,,

Hi guys, So far I have only been feeding pellets from iwarna. My clown, blue tang and chromis are not eating them. Spitting them out soon after ingesting them in the mouth. Any other alternatives to food source and where do I get them? Thanks.
-
Hi all, Would like to ask every one if this clownfish I have is a maroon clown and its so aggressive that I can only keep him as the only clown? Also, I have a longnose hawkfish, will he kill my shrimps? Got some doctor shrimps the other day but all disappeared. I'm not sure if its the hawkfish that got them or the gorilla crab. I have since removed the crab that I think is responsible for a few small fish casualties, Thanks..
-
My corals are doing ok. No casualties, just the fishes. I was previously using API and the no3 readings was high. Recently bought this new salifert no3 test kit. Will go buy another salifert just to be sure. I never tried testing the nsw though. Will try later. Just got some chaeto and de-nitrate. See if these may help. The phosphate theory sounds cool. Better test phosphate as well.

Thanks and noted, appreciate the input

I'm thinking of vinegar since vodka promotes cyno. I getting some cyno on the sandbed recently. I've off my lights totally now since livestock and corals ain't that much. Can anyone advice if iwarna or any one does home visits of doing at least 60% wc. Lugging 30 packets of nsw in my car doesn't sound very appealing. And yeah, I don't have a ro unit at home to churn that amount of water

Seeking all seniors and experts advices. My tank is newly setup for 3 months. My nitrates test is horrendous. Mine is a 2ft cube with sump and skimmer is bubble Magnus nac 5. Using salifert no3 test kit and its reading the max of 100ppm, ammonia and nitrite is 0. Live stock currently only 1 fish some corals. 2 frags of zoas, 1 Clove and 1 bubble. I feed a pinch of pellets every 3 days. I don't have chaeto in my refugium as iwarna don't have. Anywhere else can buy chaeto? So far I did multiple wc but the nitrates are still high. 10 packs of nsw for 1 wc and every week I change 50 L of nsw. Still doesn't work. I read nitrates may be tolerant to fishes so I added 1 clown so far but he didn't get past 4 days. Thought of getting chemical assistance in the form of seachem de-nitrate but sent Seaview but they ran out. Any valuable advices?

Hi guys, Newbie question but when I'm calculating my total water vol either in Litres Or gallons, do I include the water in the sump?
