  1. I hope you do remember to remove most of the water out of the chiller... Remove all 8 of the screws around the chiller casing. 4 on each side just below the handles. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/83B1CE09-6317-48F4-98A0-767A35B7AD5A-96347-000004E0FEC8A932.jpg.html'> To remove the handle, you gonna reach into the casing and depress the 2 side tabs of the handle casing. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/B55AE7C3-AA53-4745-BAB0-09550F216D37-96347-000004E10C7DF95B.jpg.html'> Tabs as shown. Take caution as they tend to break easily. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/9C49C8FD-F322-4F02-BFD7-FD601F9E0E6B-96347-000004E1FEF2C100.jpg.html'> Remove both the intake and output piping of the chiller. Just twist the plastic nut off. Clean the inside of debris if possible. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/D9475ED9-605A-41BB-A4C5-77F8DC584921-96347-000004E114DA4EC2.jpg.html'> Another nut below the intake and output pipes. Off with this one to..Might need some strength. Now can remove casing!
  2. Before you can reach the panel, you will need to open up the chiller. Maybe a good time to clean the radiator fin and fan too? Also check for rust on all the pipings? Make sure the chiller is not plugged into a power socket... http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/53F85D55-D373-41DF-83F0-3A322778308E-96347-000004E0B99CD871.jpg.html'> Open the front panel of the chiller by simply lifting up the vent panel as its held down by magnets. One end leading to the probe, another end leading to the control panel.
  3. Decided to mod my Resun chiller to an external temp probe. Not that the internal probe is faulty, but i juz wan a monitor the temperature inside the display tank instead of the chiller itself. To start with, I gotten a FOX digital control panel meter model 1004 at $75 in Sim Lim Tower B1. From the operating manual, the are 3 version of the meter. 1004, E1004 and S1004. 1004 and S1004 display the temp with a .1 decimal point, etc 28.5 degree. However 1004 can b used for measuring heater and chiller temp whereas S1004 for chilling only. E1004 display 2 digits of the temp, etc 428 degree and is able to measure heater and chiller temp. Testing phase http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/A9E5B1E3-DDD6-4977-AB36-DA4092BF616E-96347-000004E096F19E1C.jpg.html'> Long story short, replace the chiller's temp panel by adding the FOX meter between the input voltage from 3 pin plug to chiller compressor. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/30EDF67D-F158-4818-80F9-C8325F0A0359-96347-000004E0A2BB7724.jpg.html'> The live and neutral wire of your household plug goes to the point 11 and 12 of the FOX meter. Either wire goes to either point as theres no + or - point. Point 12 is also used to provide one of the supply to the chiller compressor. You will need to short point 9 and 11 together to form a supply to the relay of the FOX meter. Point 10 is one of the output going to the chiller compressor. The temperature probe wiring come as attached so no need to touch them.. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/FD057CFC-CC19-49F2-A656-4CA216684E56-96347-000004E205EFAC48.jpg.html'> Hope nothing goes 'boom' when i switch it on.... http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/4D3C3018-2979-4ED1-84A6-DA40F9A977D3-96347-000004E20E3690D9.jpg.html'> Success!!! 4. This isn't really a DIY, more of a informative post.. For those looking for light club holder for their PAR LEDs, you might wana take a look at this.. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/A81E5FF8-D4A7-4599-B02C-6E9D33B2C220-96347-000004E25A5C7896.jpg.html'> I got this off a camera shop in Penisular Plaza. Photographer use this for studio shots to bounce the light to the model. Anyway it cost $14. Blub not included.. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/2A509299-A7A8-42DA-AC07-1B14E4CFC1C7-96347-000004E260CCAAAB.jpg.html'> Back view. With a simple on-off switch. The shop sells either a 3 pin or 2 pin plug. 1 dollar difference. http://s720.photobucket.com/user/oklahloso/media/fishy/A5789C06-BB84-441A-9C71-5BA4464C8DB0-96347-000004E2677767BD.jpg.html'> With another $14, you can buy a clamp to attach it to your tank or the inside of your sump. As shown, my LED is quite big in size and it is holding well for the past 1 week. Able to tilt the light up, down, left and right. Setup might be abit ex..but I can use them for photography if I do not use them for the light. So its $24 well spend!
  5. Oh 4get 2 tell u de resun has pontential 4 mods, like adding fans 2 cool de compressor or external temp controller mod..plus de air filter netting easy 2 remove for cleaning..
  6. Resun....china brand...ok lah...can chill, so-so heat..unless, like mi, u got a dryer in de kitchen blowing hot air into de living room...if not heat generated is bearable..not like mine, turning into sauna room..had a cl300, juz changed to a cl650..if u wan can sell u de cl300!
  7. If u add more led, u will nid 2 increase de resistor value if not all de led will appear dimmer..worst is no light at all..if i remember correctly, diff colour of led require diff resistor value..
  8. Cycling: once every week Post cycling: once a fortnight..
  9. Or is it de chiller kicks in frequently so generates lots of heat? Also these few days de weather jialat ah...maybe global warming at its peak areadi...so very soon de ocean will experience a rise in temp...de fishes will get used to it dan no requirement 4 chiller liao!!!
  10. Care to explain how does it work?
  11. Y not use ceiling fan in de living room? Even thought i have an air con unit in de living room, i seldom switch it on...unless theres mahjong session or events like CNY..using an exhaust fan is good, only if u r drawing de heat away from a room n out of ur hse..like wat i did in my master bedroom 2 draw out moisture in de toilet as i have a walk in wardrobe juz outside..
  12. U all heng ah...chiller only...i have 2 tahan de chiller's heat in de living room..my dryer's heat from kitchen...plus my front door is always closed...my balcony used 2 have wind blowing in...but goverment decided 2 built flats in de open field opp my block thus blocking de wind...but my 3 fur-kids which r full of fur r not complaining...ya, i can tahan de heat..

  15. Anyway i juz brought 1 big bottle of reefclear, can spare u afew ml..
  19. I would move de power plugs away from de sump n reservoir...water evaporation might cause water 2 get into the sockets? Unless u get those water proof casing used 4 our air con compressor? Anyway saw this vertical power sockets on qoo10...brought 2 to try it out..gonna use 1 4 my aquatic equipments..heres de link.. http://list.qoo10.sg/item/INNOHOM-VERTICAL-ULTIMATE-POWER-CABLE-EXTENSION/410005874
  20. If not online loh.... http://www.freshnmarine.com.sg/
  21. All u need is supply going in to the external temp controller...temp probe comes attached on most temp controller..by putting the temp controller in between de supply 2 de chiller compressor, when temp reached, cut off supply 2 chiller compressor..but u nid 2 know wat supply ur compressor is using..

So far the available HOB skimmer are from bubble magus, red sea primz and skimz..other brands not so sure..I used b4 de primz n bubble magus..primz sucks..bubble magus quite good..but I would, like all other reefers, recommend a proper in sump or out sump skimmer if space permits...anyway, bigger is better!! If u wan, take my primz, foc!!!
