I will also want to wean my clownfish off mysis and brineshrimp. Even with mysis and brineshrimp, my clown is not excited during feeding time. He just keep swimming up and down the tank wall. He does'nt swim in the middle of the tank among the rocks. Has been like this for 2 weeks since i got him.

I recall seeing Ah Beng (Pasir Ris Farm) has many dry rocks which are packed in big plastic bags lying in the shop. Many... You can call them to enquire.

I will look out for cowry snails then. My turbo snails may not be eating the clumps of algae which is appearing here and there in my tank. Glass also start to have bits of algae growing now.

And I guess the short one may work better as you can apply good pressure to level the metal scraper against the glass to clear the algae. My long one, I had a tough time as it is not easy to apply good pressure with the long rod. The algae is quite stubborn sticking well on the glass.

I bought a similar one with extra long handle as my tank is 2.5ft high. About $12 at Yishun 618 fish shop. Ah beng (pasir ris farm) also has it. Very common item in fish shops.

I am using snails and just bought Hector's goby. Hope this goby can help clear up some algae.

My new open brain also bleached in less than a week under T5. Shifted it to a shadier spot and see if the color comes back.

I saw some nudis and I used Kent Tech D Coral Dip. Still have nudis. Then I got Coral Rx and dip them in. Monitoring now.

When i picked my turbo snails at the LFS, i will apply a gentle pulling force to make them release their grip on the glass. Have to try several times as many are very stubborn in letting go.

I just got my A4 size from Artfriend at Orchard for $1.20. Need to ask the attendant for it as it is stored somewhat hidden from normal view.

Has anyone kept the Hector's Goby before and could share if this goby eats away algae in the tank. Thanks.

I saw this goby at Ah Beng (Pacific Reef) at Pasir Ris last week and the week before so this fish could be a common find there. My tank has some nuisance algae growth and I wanted to get this fish after reading the overview. However, I bought the wrong fish last week at Ah Beng. I got its "cousin", the Jester Court Goby which is very similar except the color of the stripes (red stripes instead of yellow stripes). I will be getting the Hector's Goby on my next visit. Overview Hector's Goby, also known as Hector's Hover Goby, has a bluish-black body with bright yellow horizontal stripes and an eyespot on the dorsal fin. A 10 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of hiding places is suitable for this fish. It can be included in a reef aquarium and the fish will sift the sand as well as graze on hair algae. It is non-aggressive towards other fish and will not bother invertebrates in the tank. Hector's Goby is easy to feed and its diet consists of most marine foods. It consumes large amounts of algae, worms, and prepared foods such as vitamin enriched mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. Approximate Purchase Size: Small 1 1/4" to 2 1/4"

My new tank also having hair algae growth on live rocks and I have noticed bits of greenish algae strands adhere to the aquarium glass.

Adding too much water during water change and topping up without adjusting the skimmer also will cause overflow.

I may have to use the vinegar method to "clean" the pump. I guess I can just run the pump in white vinegar (from NTUC without dilution) for 15 mins and rinse clean before putting the pump back in operation. Thanks.

Thanks. If it is this tight, I might not want to open it as from the description, high chance the plastic will give way. Just disappointed that it is not design with ease of maintenance in mind as compared to other pumps. And from the instruction sheet, it is recommended to check and clean the impeller periodically.

Hi, anyone tried this coral dip from Kent Marine? Is it a useful dip against common parasites that attack corals such as worms/slugs? The bottle only mention effective against bacterial and protozoan diseases. I heard Coral RX and Revive from 2 little fishes is effective. Thanks.

Googled on spaghetti worms. They are really hideous looking creatures.

I am using normal T5 aquazonic super sun x 6 and actinic x 2 (54W)

I can see slim long debris like "waste" being pushed out from some holes in my live rocks. It forms a pile of dirt just outside the holes but I did'nt get to see what creature did it. I can also see long strands of thread like things extending from some other holes reaching for the nearest object too. These strands will extend and withdraw into the holes every now and then.

Hi, I just bought a Skimz SM161 skimmer and started to examine the pump and try to see how I can reach the impeller for cleaning in the future. Usually for pumps like eheim, we can just simply unscrew the cover to the impeller and the whole magnetic shaft of the impeller could be taken out for cleaning. For the Skimz skimmer pump, the impeller cover is very tight and it seems to me, it cannot be removed at all. There is no instruction on this as well. Does anyone own a Skimz skimmer here able to advise me how the impeller can be removed for cleaning. Thank you very much.

Thanks. I did not apply epoxy. I just find 3 contact points for the rocks to sit securely.
