  1. Agree with you my friend! If SPS don't require supplemental feeding of zooplankton than whats the function of its polyps? Personally, I think the usual debate is on whether or not we should feed our SPS rather than whether SPS feeds. Because mother nature already provided the answer that they do feed, its just whether our tank have sufficient food to supply them. It happens to me once when I encounter polyps burn even when all parameters were all within range, in the end I posted my query including my feeding regimes and fish stocks to Eric Borneman and realized that my tank may not have sufficient zooplankton to sustain my colonies. After supplemental feeding, my colonies started to grow. From the above, I've learned there are no hard and fast rule towards the feeding of your sps. A tank with sufficient well fed fishes may provide sufficient zooplankton to keep SPS happy. While another with small fish populations may have to supplementally feed zooplankton in order to maintain SPS. Anyway, I believe the initial question was on getting rotifers to feed true perc fries. I know there are a couple of senior reefers still culturing rotifers, they have have already contacted bryanong. HTH

  9. There is in fact a Pin Point ORP Contoller. Check it out at http://www.americanmarineusa.com/ There is also user guide to assist you in the usage. HTH
  10. Like Bro Hammy, I suggest you do frequent partial water changes with a quality saltmix. No point trying to adjust the pH when your trace elements have been depleted due to lack of water changed. HTH
  11. Personally I feed that your prata bleach due to lack of lighting. The colours that you see on your prata are created by zooxanthellae which depends of photosynthesis to survive. By feeding food, you are feeding the prata but not the symbiotic algae thus instead of producing sugar (food) for the prata, it became a burden and is expelled from the tissue of the prata. HTH
  12. Great job for such a nice set-up! As to feeding your corals, the easiest method of feeding is to provide varied diet (in small quantity). You can check out the varieties from the sponsors here. Below are my humble list of "coral foods": 1) Argent Cyclopeeze 2) DT Oyster eggs 3) Polyplab Reefroids 4) Kent Marine ZooMax 5) Kent Marine PhytoMax 6) Marc Weiss SPS Food 7) Marc Weiss Reef Bugs 8) Marc Weiss Combo Vital Please note that you need to feed sparingly as unconsumed food will create more problems!!! HTH
  13. No worries... Hope all is well at your side...
  14. Bro Ian, Me no AT lah.... Just Gouldian nia....
  15. Hi Chaniz, There are several articles written on food for corals, most states that hard corals be it sps or lps feed predominantly on zooplankton rather than phytoplankton. However, most believe that by feeding phytoplankton frequently to their tank, they will increase the populations of the micro-organisms in the tank which will eventually be consummed by lps. "Many coral reef animals such as clams and other bi-valves, soft corals, sponges and feather duster worms feed directly on phytoplankton, and even those that do not, such a most stony corals, rely ultimately on the nutrition gained from phytoplankton and other marine algae eaten by the zooplankton they feed on." www.dtplankton.com HTH

  17. Measure the Ca level of effluent of the CR, if its still low -> measure the pH. It could be the Co2 is insufficient thus not melting the Ca media. Share with us your findings so that we may assist in more detail.
  18. Yah... chances of micro bubbles from skimmer will be high if you do not have enough baffle plates or if you place your skimmer outlet at the last compartment of the sump.
  19. Hi Bro, Your friend could be right. Bubbles from return pump are commonly caused by the following 2 reasons: 1) Pipings are not sealed properly causing air being suck into the pipes. 2) Water level is too low in the sump where the return pump is. This will create vortex and suck air into the return pump. HTH
  20. Actually, the title of your thread is a little misleading. I believe what you have is a "regionally" produced skimmer with AquaBee needlewheel pump. Nevertheless, think the price of $350 for a new needlewheel skimmer is fair. Upz
  21. Nice FTS..... Hope to see it in person one day. Missed the chance yesterday as I was rushing back.
  22. I believe for your case, its not the diet but your water parameters. Looking at your LRs, I believe your kH could be low too. Maybe you can start by testing for phosphate (po4), nitrate (no3) and alklinity (kh). HTH
  23. Once they are growing among your star polyps its very difficult to eradicate without stressing the coral. IMHO, its best to find the cause of your algae bloom and remove it, thereby nipping the problem at the bud. As you would have know algae will flourish due to high nutrients and insufficient flow. Thus I will recommend the following: 1) Increase the flow 2) Reduce / control feeding 3) Upgrade skimmer 4) Use PO4 absorbing media 5) Frequent water change HTH
  24. AquaBee3000 collected by peong. Upz for Digilab Salinity Meter * Note original packaging still intact with spare batteries unused * Able to take temperature, specific gravity and salinity
