  1. Yes, he is Wayne Shang - http://www.underseadiscovery.net/home.htm, I think it will work if the Reef Tank is indeed nutrient low, if not, by blindly introducing nutrient rich water into your reef tank will only cause algae bloom. As BFG has mentioned, "Do what works for you". Everyone of our tanks are unique and the surest way to know what your tank need is to test the water parameters. If my tank is high on nutrients and my sps is browning - no Wayne Shang or Eric Borneman will be able to convinced me to add more nutrients into my tank! HTH
  2. Try to do a Ca and kh test before and after dosing Iwarna top-up, followed by another test the next day. It should give you an indication from there.
  3. You can only get the indication from your Ca test, if you measure a drop and even after water change, the Ca continue to fall, you will need to look into supplementation. From my past experience, clams have certain growth cycle and during "accelerated" cycle, their calcium demands will be high. Clams demands for Ca will also be high before they reach their "adult" size. For example a 15cm Crocea may have lesser Ca demands than a 15cm Gigas. HTH
  4. I like your RBTA... NICE... Wa, 1st sps choose one that is hard to maintain colors liao.
  5. Should be fine as long as you are able to maintain the Ca parameters.
  6. All rabbit fishes will go into hiding during CNY because we Chinese eat Bai Du Yu which is the spotted rabbit fish during this time of the year - http://www.wildsingapore.com/wildfacts/vertebrates/fish/siganidae/siganidae.htm . Anyway saw a several at CF yesterday, think its white spotted.
  7. Wow great! I wanted to frag but stop short of getting a rotary tool. Maybe, when you are done, you can loan me yours, I pass you a frag of G. stutchburyi after it survive the trauma.
  8. Bro, you can get more info from HERE. Ups
  9. Mine is a DIY one hidden in a separate compartment of my main tank powered by a AB2000 and only the 5mm of the outlet is viewable from the outside. My initial intention was to safe on the cost of wavemaker. I have tried with and without eductor and can see the different. However, I think eductor is not popular due to the fact that wavemaker are a better option unless you intend connect the eductor to a return pipe which you can't use wavemaker.
  10. Hehehe, I just solve my leak problem recently. When tank leak, there is only I solution - Drain off. After you have drain off, you will have 2 options: 1) Change a new tank 2) Re-silicone existing tank You will never be able to "patch" leak from the external of the tank as this is will only comes back to haunt you at later date - worst is the tank may give way over night. Change new tank is the best option as you will be able to correct any minor flaw to your existing tank such as increase overflow box and pipe sizes etc. This is also better in case your wooden frame has been weaken by the water seepage. For me, my entire tank is built-in and removing the tank would mean breaking into the carpentry work which will be costly. Plus the fact that I have previously opt for Chengai wood which supposed to be able to withstand moisture. So what I did was: 1) Drain off and clean up the entire tank - you pay more if you get tank-maker to do it 2) Get tank-maker to access the potential leak sites - a keen and experienced eye 3) Once job confirmed and tank is clean, tank-maker will arrive to cut silicone - leak sites would yield wet silicone 4) Tank-maker will also cut weak / flawed sites 5) Re-silicone and wait for 7 days for silicone to cure - depending on which type of silicone the tank maker use 6) 2nd trip by Tank-maker to trim off ugly edges of the silicone and to inspect any flaws in the 1st trip 7) Fresh water test 8) Re-start HTH
  11. Congrats bro! So bro, is the fish currently in your tank? Please PM me more info so that I can update our members in MASS and ArowanaFish.
  12. The guy from the link I posted have done it before and have given some info on how he does the fragging. I think a good rotary cutter is key to fragging.
  13. Hi guys, was at GO yesterday and left with a pink Goniopora stutchburyi. Anyway, herewith are more info of Gonio, but note slow loading due to file size. http://www.korallenriff.de/Sindelfingen2006/Germany-neu2.pdf
  14. If you are using durso and you are having inconsistent water level at the overflow box, it is due to these, if you need help, please PM me.
  15. I just spoke with the salesman, he told me that Arees indeed is distilled by Polar. This because both Polar and Arees belongs to the same boss. As to the price different, he says its because Arees is a lesser known brand trying to capture market share thus is pricing competitively. He also told me that Arees will be getting their own drivers soon so as to solve the delivery inaccuracy that some of their customers are currently experiencing.
  16. Hi guys, just wanted to share: I was walking back after breakfast to my place last Saturday expecting the delivery of my Arees distilled water. From far, I saw a Polar truck driving up and parking at the loading bay of my block. As I walk nearer, I saw a familiar face - the "Arees" deliveryman. He came out of the truck and took 3 bottles of Arees distilled water from the polar truck that is filled with Polar, Arees distilled water plus some other brand which I could not make out. I immediately approached him and accompanied him to my flat during which I asked why he is driving Polar truck and why there are Arees and Polar distilled water. He told me that Polar and Arees are distilled by Polar factory. He revealed that Arees has contracted Polar to do the distillation for them quite some time and the distilled water are from the same stainless steel kettle, just using different bottles. Hmmm... I have gotten quote from Polar and their price is definitely much higher than Arees, maybe Polar is targeting the more affluent market while Arees is cover the more budget conscious market. And if this is the case, I believe I have made the right decision of choosing Arees. HTH
  17. Hi bro, just wanted to update, the CS is doing well, just moulted last night and scurrying around after light off thus managed to see it. Thanks
  18. Hmmm, don't think it will prevent ich but warmer water will increase the metabolism of the tank inhabitant including ich. This is useful to speed up the life cycle of ich so as to increase the chance of treating them through medications. However, increase temperature do have its disadvantages: Undue stress to fishes that are accustomed to cooler waters Reduce oxygen saturation
  19. Wow, I just started with Arees after hearing good reviews from a few bros. Herewith is my problem with Candid / Alphues: Deposit $150 Minimum 8 Bottles per month Compulsory GIRO deduction Sales person disappeared after contract is signed Delivery guy is prompt, courteous and friendly Tank leak and told them to stopped delivery but Giro can continue Rejected and suggested that they changed all 5gal bottles to 350ml bottles of approx the same value So end up with several hundred 350ml bottles outside my door one Saturday without prior notice Called customer service, told that its management decision - collect all 5gal bottles and replace with 350ml As the contract is about to end, they have send me all balance (700 bottles) in 1 trip!!! After speaking with the "manager", we settled to 350 bottles to be deliver next month Indicated to the manager that I will not be continuing their contract and wanted my deposit back, told me to write it After 3 months, called to enquire deposit, told me that they are processing After 4 months, still processing, lodge report with CASE and emailed Candid plus cc CASE - no response or acknowledgement After 5 months, employed the debt collector's tactic - me and my wife call continuously (minimum 2 calls per day) Collected deposit after 6 months I hope Thomas experience with Arees and my experience with Candid are isolated case but nevertheless, I hope our experiences will let you guys have an indications of what to expect. Reasons why I chosen Arees are: They only require $50 deposit, so even they take longer to refund, I think it will not pissed me that much Their charge per bottle is cheaper than Polar and Alpheus - Sorry will not reveal, call them and let them quote you Minimum 5 bottles per month COD, when no one home, they will leave the bottles and collect payment later (within 7 days) I have salesman email and mobile number I know Mopiko also have a good deal, because he stay above Sheng Shiong, they deliver 1.5l distilled water to his door step and at a very attractive price. I tried looking for distilled water at my place's Sheng Shiong and the branch manager says they don't bring in due to low demands, besides, they also don't do delivery to my block unless I buy other groceries from them. Another alternative is to go from RO/DI water.
  20. Nylon threaded nuts and bolts are quite strong. In fact, they were used to DIY CR during the early days of our hobby.
  21. Not sure bro, both Antennae, and 1 chelate and 2 legs were broken, I suspect its due to your hungry fishes. I drip acclimatise for 2 hours, release the same night. Dun have time to search for it the past 2 days due to work. Anyway, thank you for your kind offer.
