Hi Reefers, I recently pass by the the Salvation Army at Upper Serangoon Road near Potong Pasir (Former Younberg Hospital) and I saw lots of Fish Tanks. From what I know, Salvation Army receives unwanted items to be sold at discounted price. Due to my busy schedule, I was not able to confirmed whether there are any good stuffs for us. Have any bros and sis visited them? Please enlighten,

I agree with AT. Several months back, I panic when I saw a fire worm in my tank but after much attempts and still unable to catch it I just leave it as it is and till now, I have not encounter any unaccounted for death.

I was away for four days and just came back yesterday. I thought my flame angel & copperband would have help themselves with the intvertebrates in my tank but to my surprise - they have behaved very well. So I rewarded them with some lumpfish caviar!

Yah loh, In fact there are alots of fishes that will change ###### as they grow. One of the most common one is Grouper. (Wonder will we change ###### if we eat too much of them) hehehe...........

Hi reefers, I finally managed to find out the reason to the color change of Maroon. Recently, I visited a breeder in San Francisco and this is what he told me. "When we pair Maroons, the most aggressive will changed into a female and thus its color changes to brown. The second most aggressive will changed into a male and thus emit bright orange colors. And the rest, if you have more, will remain Juveniles which is neither Dark Brown nor Orange. And if you have a single Maroon in your tank, it will also eventually morph into a female which is to say the colors will changed too." Hope this address our concerns.

A very prudent move - we should ensure that the copperband feeds on mysis or other prepared food first before introducing into a reef. Thanks for the tip, bro.

I guess it is due to the fact that some LFS owners claims that there are not reef safe. Another reason could be due to pricing, copperband are cheap as such people don't value them ($2 to $3 for a 1.5"). However, I have tried them are must say that they do not lack grace and beauty as compared to the more expensive fishes. I have a white tube worm, 1 torch, 1 green frogspawn, 1 dougnut, 1 hammer and 2 LR full on zoanthids and the copperband did not bother them. I guess there are just like Angels, 50/50 chances. When I got my flame angel there are people who have experienced of them being not reef safe but however, mine, like my copperband is still very obedient.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth after seeing such comotions. Sorry ckpeh, I was one of those that "areoplane" you. Not because of what I read this thread or I have found out that there is others selling cheaper. But beacuse my brother have already bought it liao. In fact, all the while, I have been buying from Petmart but when I saw your post, I very much wanted to buy from you. Not because, I saw a bargain but because I know there must be a very good reason why a fellow reefer wanted to sell there salt and I just want to offer my support. I feel that we should give him a benefit of a doubts than thinking that he is out making a profit. Besides there are also lots of places that sell it more than $60.

I agree that they are a good fish to keep especially watching them floating veriticaly above their holes. But like what lightningstrike says they require DSB and plus it is also too pricely. If I am not wrong the last batch that came is was selling at $50!

Like to clarify the size of the maroons should be F: 7cm, M: 3.5cm. Thanks to Patrick123 for pointing it out. As I don't have DC at the moment I will not be able to show pix but below is an old pix of the two with my flame angel. The darker one is the female.

I guess it also depend on the species. Like for example among all anemones, BTA is the easiest to care for. For me, when I first bought my BTA 5/6 months ago it is only 8cm, now it is 16cm liao. Basic anemone husbandry: 1) Lights 150w and above (PL or MH or VHO) 2) Good water parameters 3) Supplemental feeding on mysis, chopped market prawns or any marine fish feeds Anyway, now it is getting too crowded in my tank and I am selling it liao. Anyone interested can pm me.
