For example the Rio32 will deliver 7300l/hr with 1ft of head but will drop to 5700l/hr if subjected to 4ft of head (As reflected from this Site). This is excluding elbows or T offs. My Personal experience with Rio20 which supposed to deliver 4900l/hr but when subjected to 3ft and 2 elbows, it deliver barely 2000l/hr of flow.

Was the fish eating in the first place when you bought it? Chances of them eating will be great if you are able to see that the fishes are feeding at the LFS. This is the differences between a good LFS & a erm... LFS.

Bro, different tank and different models of skimmer will require different adjustment. What most reefers does is: 1) Ensure that the water level inside the reaction chamber with the valve fully closed in slightly below the neck 2) Then we will slowly open the valve till we see some production of foam 3) The foam should be climbing to about 1/3 height of the neck in the collection cup during this time 4) Observe for the next day to see whether you are able to get the foam going above the neck into the collection cup 5) If you are able to collect some skimmate within 24hrs after adjustment - you are getting it right But be careful not to open the valve too much as it would lead to too much foaming thereby overflowing. Also monitor and adjust the valve accordingly for the next few days as the breaking in of the skimmer and the spike of ammonia and nitrite might drive your skimmer crazy.

Bro, once you have LRs and sand, there bounds to be stuffs you can skim. This is because all LRs will have some form of lives produces some form of deritus dissloving in your water that needs to be skimmed.

Hotlemond is right, Weipro needs longer break-in period. Besides that, it could be due tuning of the air in-take. What most reefers do with Weipro is to install a valve at the air in-take tube of the venturi for some fine tuning works. Remember, always expect some form of skimmate even if your tank is brand new, there is not such thing as "my water is too clean".

Vibration is usually caused by back pressure or high head. Flow pumps such as Rio are not build to withstand high head or back pressure. High head or back pressure is cause by: 1) Elbows 2) Reducers 3) T joints 4) Distance between the pump to the outlet 5) Other filtration devices In a high head or back pressured environment, the pump will not gives you the maximum flow you wanted. Long term usage of the pump in a high head or back pressured environment will generate heat and will ceased the impellor without any warning. In order to reduce the vibration you can either reduce the above or change the pump to one with high head rating or even pressure rated pumps. I have previously used the 20hf to run my return and have the same problem, when I realized that the flow is getting slower and the pump is vibrating more. I changed to the Aquabee 3000 supposedly have lower flow by higher head compared to the 20hf. After I changed, I have enjoy higher flow without vibration.

The ones at CF were feeding when I visited. MI needs an establish mixed reef to survive. This is because MI's natural diets are sponges and tunicates. Although shops can train them to feed on pellets or mysis, there are still missing in certain nutirents that MI needs in a long run. In a matured mixed reef, there bounds to have some forms of sponges and tunicates outcrops that will satisfy the minimal nutrents requirements.
