  1. Hi Bro, That's the beauty of nature, it reminds us that we are not the "boss" just because we own the tank.
  2. Wow... your new 'empty space' can be used by a pair of angels in courtship. Is that what you intend to do next?
  3. Thanks Colin, will try to get FTS soon....hmmm after I settle my hard pipings.
  4. Oic, Isopods are another menace. From my limited knowledge most wrasses and damsels consumed isopods once they left their host. HTH
  5. Hi guys, Just wanted to share some articles explaning Osmoregulation and ways of subjecting our fishes to right enviroment so as to reduce stress. http://groups.msn.com/Breedingtropicalfish...regulation.msnw http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osmoregulation http://www.ca.uky.edu/wkrec/RedDrumPhysiology.htm http://www2.hawaii.edu/~delbeek/delb11.html HTH
  6. Hi Gary, I guess you have it all sorted out, our hobby is to assist in de-stress rather than the other way around. Hope to see you around soon.
  7. Yo bro, Yours even better leh... long time never contact you. My project coming to an end liao, just no time to do hard pipings, once complete will jio you to see.
  8. Dear reefers, Stumble on a article of the efforts of an Isreali in saving the reef. http://www.israel21c.org/bin/en.jsp?enDisp...enZone=Profiles
  9. Hi Thomas, I believe the keyword to a healthy fishes is "Stress Free". I believe things will turn for the better soon. HTH
  10. Agree with thc, check on your air valve, ensure it fully open.
  11. Hi Bro, White spots appearing of fishes always = bad news. Some may be marine ich or velvet. These cannot be eliminated by Halichoeres sp. wrasses. What Halichoeres sp. have been known to consume are parasitic snails and crabs that may harm invertebrates. HTH
  12. Hi Ivan, Was just talking about you with Morgan a few days ago. Hope this is for another bigger project to come. Upz for your sale.
  13. Hi bro, Most Halichoeres sp. do consume some form of parasites in our tank but they are not the total solution towards parasite-free tank. The best way to avoid parasites is through careful selection, quarantine, dips and manual removals. By the way, what parasites are your worried about, maybe we can shore our 2 cents.
  14. Hi bro, If I remember correctly, Tunze skimmer needs a minimum water height i.e. the external water level needs to reach the blue waving line indicated outside the skimmer box. HTH
  15. Thanks for you kind comments, I love your wrasses too.
  16. Hi bro, D.I. water theoretically should have a pH of 7.0. However, as it sits in open air Carbon Dioxide will absorbed resulting in the formation of Carbonic Acid. Thus when water passes thru the DI unit into your pail, it will start absorbing the atmospheric Carbon Dioxide resulting in Lower pH during testing. In fact you can literally watch (on a pH monitor) the pH drop from 7.0 in D.I. water as it absorbs Carbon Dioxide. Upon reaching a pH of ~5.5 an equilibrium will be established with the atmosphere and the pH should stabilize at around this point. Several commercial pH meters are precise enough to measure accurately within this pH range assuming the meter is properly calibrated. However, don't worry too much if you see the pH drop in the D.I. water. If your initial readings are around 7 then drop to no lower than ~ 5.5 - you have good water. Most reefers will measure the conductivity or total dissolved solids (tds) to ensure its "cleanliness" before re-constituition. Re-constituition for our case means: 1) Mixing DI water with our saltmix for water change 2) Mixing DI water some form of Ca/Kh buffers for fresh water top up. I have tried Kalkwasser or Aragamight and so far am happy with the results I gotten. HTH
  17. Hi bro, For yellow wrasse there are 2 species commonly available. Check out the below links for more info: http://www.marinedepotlive.com/golden-cori...h--wrasses.html http://riffaquarium.hm-photogalerie.de/tie...g/t_data_6.html http://melevsreef.com/id/lm_wrasse.html HTH
  18. Hi bro, Thanks for visiting my thread, heard you are very busy with work now a days. How's things with you? Its been quite a while since we seen your "candy sticks" tank.
  19. Hi bro. When the opportunity arrives!
  20. Yo bro, Thanks for visiting my thread. My tank where can consider exotic? Now tank condition not optimum cuz I have been doing some DIY and have neglected on keeping water prestine. Will reveal my new DIY project once completed.
  21. Oops... Old soldier not sure what is the new acronym for ROD. Hope all is well on your side.
  22. Thanks bro, do pop in if you happens to be around.
  23. To reefers who did not make it for collection last weekend except for Kelstorm and Chercm who have informed me earlier that they could not make it: I am sorry, I will have to gave your share to some other reefers who have shown interest.
  24. Hi bro, Star polyp generally grows pretty fast without deliberate feeding as long as your water parameters are in order. HTH
