  1. Hi whiteice, I don't see any big problem with this set-up except for your intended livetsocks. try to stay away from fishes which eventual size may be too large for you tank and also fishes that poop alot. This is because smaller tank have smaller water volume which equals to smaller room for mistakes. HTH
  2. Below par is not a problem, its the sincerity of sharing that is important. Kudos.
  3. Oic, I think the biostar is also quite good, my wife's uncle uses it in his 4ft tank. I persoanlly have used it before too. HTH
  4. Hi Bro, IMHO, bio ring especially the sintered glass type are excellent harbours for nitrifying bacteria. Thus they will be great to control ammonia and nitrite levels in our tank provided you ensure that there are no detritus build up. But do note that the end-product of nitrification is Nitrate, so it is better to complete the cycle by having denitrifying activites in your tank. This can be done by having Denitrator or macroalgae refugiums or anaerobic zones in some part of your set-up etc. Nitrification Denitrification Ref: http://thereeftank.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102708 http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/livesandj...2904jalbert.htm http://www.aquaworldaquarium.com/Articles/...theAquarium.htm HTH
  5. Hi bro, Orange ball should be Pseudocorynactis caribbaeorum from Caribbeans, there are also Indo Pacific Pseudocorynactis. But I am not able to ID the species of Nitro's specimen. Care to PM me where you know is selling $120? HTH
  6. Not sure whether you guys heard of this one. Little Red Riding Hood was walking through the forest one day to visit her grandma. Suddnely she saw Mr Wolf squating behind a bush, Little Red Riding Hood went up to Mr Wolf: "Good morning Mr Wolf, how are you today?" Mr Wolf jump up and ran away without saying a word. Puzzled but nevertheless LRRH conitnued her journey and a mile into the woods, LRRH spooted Mr Wolf again, this time he was squating behind a tree. LRRH ran up again: "Goog morning..." before she could finish Mr Wolf stood up stared st her and run away. LRRH was left standing next to the tree wondering what she did wrong. This time she is determine to find out what happen and decides to follow Mr Wolf. Out of the forest into the meadows, LRRH spotted Mr Wolf. He is behind the large rock this time. Thinking that she may have startled Mr Wolf the previous 2 times, this time LRRH shouted before she reaches the large rock: "HELLO MR WOLF, HOW ARE YOU TODAY? NICE WEATHER ISN'T IT?" Mr Wolf stood up behind the large rock, obviously annoyed and replied:"WTF, what does it takes for me to take a decent crap?!!?"
  7. Hi Weisheng, If you have trouble getting the blue potteri to feed, my tank is always available.
  8. Hi bro, Is there a Deltec 9005 skimmer? Have heard of Tunze 9005 though.
  9. Hi bro, Fantastic photos, wonder how many shots you ended up with just on this aquarium.
  10. Hi Nitro, They belongs to the genus Pseudocorynactis, species wise its very difficult to ID. Pseudocorynactis spp. are like Corynactis but are much larger (to about six inches (15 cm) diameter, and usually not colonial. They also reproduce by fission, but it is unusual to find more than about six clones together as a group. The so-called orange ball anemones that can be observed on coral reefs at night are Pseudocorynactis spp. The column varies in color from cryptic shades of brown to orange, red and magenta. The tips of the tentacles are commonly bright orange, but they can also be white. These tentacle tips are extremely sticky, like flypaper, due to the presence of powerful nematocysts. This fact makes the larger species from the Indo Pacific region unsuitable for aquariums housing fishes, which they readily capture. They also can catch mobile invertebrates such as shrimps and snails, and sometimes "attack" sessile invertebrates growing on adjacent rocks, enveloping them in the gastric cavity through a widely opened mouth. Pseudocorynactis spp. can be fed daily, but only require twice weekly feeding to keep them healthy. If they are not fed frequently enough, they shrink. There is a marked behavioral difference between the common Caribbean and Indo-Pacific species. The Caribbean species, Pseudocorynactis caribbaeorum mainly opens its tentacles at night, and closes rapidly when it senses light. The Indo-Pacific species remains open both day and night, and is not sensitive to light. The presence of food smells (dissolved amino acids) in the water stimulates either species to open up and extend the tentacles, and the caribbean species can be trained to open in the light by feeding it during daylight hours. The mechanism for its apparent memory is not known. 11. Hi, 6 is better, 4 is the bare minimum for me. By the way, does your light set somes with reflector?
  12. Hi, For a 150cm long tank, you will need a 5ft standard Fluorescent Light. 45cm is about 1.5ft deep, if I were you, I will used 4 tubes to cover the depth and width. HTH
  13. Hi bro, For me, I will removed them. HTH
  14. Wow, thanks for the explaination!
  15. Hi Bro, If you meant coral chip placed into the sump, these used to be commonly practiced as some believed that it will support nitrifying bacteria and also assist in buffering the KH. However, with the advancement in reefing husbandry, most reefers no longer uses coral chips as its been known to trap detritus if not clean periodically. As for its buffering capabilities, its been proven that bacteria biofilm build up on the coral chip will reduce the abilities for coral chip to buffer a reef tank before its too late. Coral chips will need a pH of 6plus in order to effective buff up the tank but by the time our tank pH reaches below 7 - our tank would already crashed. HTH
  16. Dear Reefshark, Type C Euro Plug do not have polarity thus they can be plug regardless of direction. As posted earlier there are some plugs that have polarity differences: "Some plug/socket combinations are designed in a way that a plug can be inserted only one possible way — this is referred to as a polarized plug (not to be confused with positive and negative polarity). Others allow the plug to be inserted with live and neutral either way round — this is referred to as an unpolarized plug. Furthermore even if live and neutral can only connect one way, in some countries it is common to wire them without regard for which is which. This will be hazardous with equipment that connects the neutral to the case.." No wonder people seek for your company and look forward to include you for all get-together's. However, you are sensitive which is a drawback. People need to select their words while talking to you. If someone tries to fiddle around and play with words while dealing with you, it is enough to invite your wrath. God bless the person then! If you are a Cockroach: Quite contradictory to your name, you are a peace loving person. You best try to avoid a situation wherein you are required to fight. An outdoor person, you dislike sitting at one place for a long duration. You are a born leader, and have it in you how to tactfully derive work from people. You love being loved, and when you receive your share of limelight from someone, you are all theirs!!!! The examples of your kindness are always circulated in groups of people. You too, love peace. You wouldn't like to retaliate even to a person who is in the wrong. You are loved due to this. You do not wish to talk behind! one's back. People love the way you always treat them. You can give, give and give love, and the best part is that you do not expect it back in return. You are generous enough. Seeing things in a practical light is what the best trait of you guys remains. If you are a Bullfrog: You symbolize a very happy-go-lucky approach in life. Whatever the surroundings may be, grim or cheerful, you remain unaffected. In fact, you spread cheer wherever you go. You can be mean at times, and love to gossip with your selected group. Very prim and proper. You like all situations and things to be in the way you desire, which, sometimes is not possible. As a result, you may lose out in some relationships. But otherwise, you love to help people out from difficult and tight spots when they really need you. If you are an Ape: Very impatient and hyper!!! You want things to be done as quickly as possible. At heart, you are quite simple and love if you are the center of attraction. That way, you people are unique..You would like to keep y! ourself safe from all the angles. Shall your name be dragged or featured in any sort of a controversy, you then go all panicky. Therefore, you take your precautions from the very beginning. When you foresee anything wrong, your sixth sense is what saves you from falling in traps. Quite a money minded bunch you people are!!
