  1. Wow! I always wanted to have a nano featuring the 2 greats of shrimp gobies!
  2. Bro, very sorry. On second look, I believe its a male will the stomach sunken. Females do not have the pouch opening and the head is slightly different.
  3. Hi Bro, If I am not wrong, your is female as the male will have a huge stomach such as the image below (on the foreground is male, background is female). Personally, I don't think they will be able to adopt to higher temperature as temperature will create stress and also increase the metabolic rate to a level they are not used to. I do know if a few who tried rearing them in higher temperature but failed. HTH
  4. Hi Bro, Yes, it is still possible for cyano bacteria to grow in low PO4 and NO3 environment, this is because cyano bacteria will photosynthesize. Besides, test kits are not able to detect organic PO4. Best is the siphon them out and do frequent partial water changes. HTH
  5. Its always good to see another set-up. If I am not wrong, you can still use the dymax casing if you want to change to T5HO, all you need to do is to replace the ballast. HTH
  6. Hi Tommo Thanks for sharing, its been quite a while since I see a tank with so many clams. Is that a T.gigas? Used to keep 3 T. maxima but lost them during a fumigation exercise by my town council to prevent aedes mosquitoes. Regards,
  7. Hehe here's a tribute to you: I have a prior appointment tomorrow evening, Tues is better. Wow 2 x 250w giessmann is glaring, your bro in law using it for his sps tank?

  9. Wilson, I will take the favia - $5, can I collect the next time we meet?
  10. Cannister filter is fine, but personally I feel that anemone is risky for a 1ft tank due: 1) Fluctuation of water parameters 2) Lack of space 3) Lack of life sustaining equipments - in this case: lights with sufficient PAR, chiller to limit fluctuation of temperature etc 4) Adding livestock too fast and furious for your tank Solution is to: 1) Add GAC (Granulated Activated Carbon) 2) Do frequent partial water changes 3) Hold back on adding new livestocks 4) Research and carefully choose the livestock suitable for your tank, filtration, existing livestocks and husbandry method HTH
  11. This is because normal float glass contains many additives to strengthen it and one such additive is iron oxide. Although iron oxide is almost clear on thin glass, green tint can be viewed on thicker glass. This green tint is one of the reasons for the duller color of your clam. If color is important, you can build your tank with glass with low iron content. But some experts claimed that low iron glass is more rigid and tends to chip compared to normal float glass. http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=56322 http://www.guardian.com/en/na/gp_001018.html HTH

  20. Just now I ran with only the National in my 4 x 2.5 x 2.5 mixed reef. Personally, I will prefer to run with a minimum of 2 - one in the main tank and another in the sump. Here the pic of the pump I bought. http://www.rs-aqua.com/en/displayproduct.html?proID=550783
  21. The one that was loan to me is National - never see it before but the Senior told me its $20+ The one I bought is RS Electrical R212 from Aquastar - bought for $6 These kind of pumps consume very little electricity, I have ran my previous ones for 20hrs per new sets of batteries.
