I have a couple of ceriths that will attached itself to the byssal of the clams, I will usually give them a one way ticket to the loo. Anyway, I have read somewhere that snails, worms and crab are some critters that may attack and kill clams. I believe one of my crocea went this way.

Nice to know another bro happy with Seaclone. When I first bought it, a lot of ppl laugh at me saying that it is not good and that it is too ex. But I still buy it cuz I like the design. Anyway, for other bro considering Seaclone, please buy the one with the green box and not the one with the yellow box. The green one is the newer upgraded version.

Show down between Brazilian Gramma & Algae Blenny
Gouldian replied to Gouldian's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
I am very sure liao. Cuz the same happens to my other friend. He only have a pair of percula with the blenny in his tank. We have both intorduce the blenny at the same time cuz I bought the blenny for him. All was well till last night, he notice some scuffling betwwen the blenny and the male percula. This morning, he called to inform me that his male percula is suffering from ich and a broken tail. I am determine to remove the blenny and my firnd is thinking of adopting my together with his for his sump. I have no prejudice on the blenny but, so far my experience of 1 x Bra Gramma, 1 x Bi-color blenny and my friend's percula has made my mind! -

Show down between Brazilian Gramma & Algae Blenny
Gouldian replied to Gouldian's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Hi Guys, Latest update, my Brazalian Gramma is dead. After the show down the gramma never come out from its hole and slowly starve to death. I tried to coax it out using BBS and Zoos but to no vail. Anyway, yesterday, I added one bi-colour blenny and notice another show down betwwen the lawnmower and the bi-colour. To the extend that it chases the bi-colour into my IOS. I am determine to remove the lawnmower! I am planning to remove all LR this Saturday so that I can nab that BUGGER! Any reefers here got better ideas? -
No algae if Atinic Blue lights used only??
Gouldian replied to Gambit's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
2 x 2 ft 55w pl still manageable but if your is 2 x 39w then in a long run not too good. Another way is to put tham higher but remember, not too close to your powerhead. However, if you intend to keep clams or other corals such as frogspawn or SPS. then you better start saving. -
Hi bros & sis, I am not thinking of doing it myself but to pay some DIY gurus here to do it for me. So gurus, please PM me your advises and quote. And what our gov always does... I will take the best offers. :-) Thank you all,

Hi reefers, I have recently added a Lawnmower blenny (Jeweled blenny) into my tank after the uasual QT. After about another 8 days, ysterday evening, I noticed the Brazilian Gramma and my blenny seems to be involve in some fight. It was not those that bites each other but they were taking turns slamming their body onto the back of my tank glass. It seems that they are competing with each other to see who can eat more algae from the glass wall. This morning during my regular morning feeding the Brazalian gramma is not willing to venture out of its hole and the blenny also seems very tense. There seems to be a certain unhappiness between the two. The rest of my fishes are ok, they are out when the light are on and are feeding normally except these two. The water parameters are fine. Have anyone experience this before? Any advise for me? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Guys, I have a 60cm FL casing collecting dust and I was wondering whether any expert here can help me convert it to a MH. If it is possible, will the casing be able to take the heat? I intend use it for my 2ft tank. And since I have two switches on the casing can I subsitute the MH with another actinic? Attached are the pixs of the casing.

Electric Flame Scallop VS Flame Scallop
Gouldian replied to Gouldian's topic in General Reefkeeping_
With blueish light at the mouth is Electric Flame loh. Anyway, I really hope that I will not see any of them in any LFS in the future. Unless we know how more about its husbandry. -
Hi Domino, By mentioning tube worm I guess you are referring to Feather Dusters rather than Coco worms. IMO, FDs are very easy to care for, they will just filter feed constantly from your water. Thus there are'nt much stuff you need to do, except making sure that they are not harrass by fishes, shrimps or water flow. As for Coco, they needs more care as compared to the FD, they are hobbyists that do regular direct feedings in order to keep them healthy. They are also the ones that frequently "loses their heads". If you are keeping coco, you will also need to do some form of suplementation of calcium as they require calcium for their tube. The diffrence between the two is easy. FDs live in soft tubes while coco's tube are hard. Hope this helps,

Yellow wrasses are well know to hide for long period. As for Angels, they will hide initially but will come out once they are acustomed to the tank & its routine. I have once experience a bi-color hiding for 7 days! By the way, you did not mentioned what Angel.

For me, I just get two dc fan from Sim lim and connect it to a mobile phone cahrger and wah lah! Mobile phone charger usually about 400mAh and 1 dc fan is about 130mAh so can hook 2 fan to one charger.

I totally agree with Mako, For those that knows a little betwen the two (Dotty's & Grammas) they will know that Grammas although are bigger and look just as fierce, they do not cause fatality. Whereas for Dotty, I will not trust any of them in my tank!

Electric Flame Scallop VS Flame Scallop

Electric Flame Scallop VS Flame Scallop
Gouldian replied to Gouldian's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Hi reefers, I wrote this thread with a heavy heart. The Electric Flame did not make it. I have tried my very best in getting it to feed effectively even direct feeding but to no avail. I have tried all Zooplanton, all phytos, Golden Pearls and all coral / reef food but still it slowing starve to death. In fact just for this scallop, I have spent over $400 just on hints of foods that it might consume . The reason of my writing is not to gripe but to share with all who read this thread not to get them next time they happens to come across them. Also, I hope that responsible LFS will not bring it in. Let's work together for a better tomorrow. -
it cleared my cyno completely though... with long term use of slime remover might effect your biological system...so try not to depend on it too much....

I agree, Royal Grammas are very rare here. The recent imports are Brazalian Grammas, I bought two from ML. 1 for myself and 1 for a friend. But can anyone advise on the diffrence between the two except the stripe on the eye? The infos I gotten from the limited books I had seems to point that there isn't more different in term of temperament and behaviour. Some even claim that they are the same species but different variation. Please advise.

I agree. By rinsing Biophos in warm or hot water is to activate the product, if not it will stay dormant. Exactly why I don't know, maybe some chemist here can enlighten. Anyway, I have used Biophos for 1 month liao and experience significant reduction of Diatoms. Cyno-wise only a little, at the end, I ended up getting Redslime Remover from ML. Just my 2 cents
