  1. NP. For long term control of NO3, there are several approaches, do some read up and find the best solution for you: Natural Nitrate Reduction 1 - Through the adding of more liverocks or increasing depth of sandbed. Anarobic areas at the centre of liverocks or in sandbed will harbour anaerobic bacteria that will convert NO# into Nitrogen which will be harmless and bubbles out into the air. Natural Nitrate Reduction 2 - Through setting up of a refugium with algae, NO3 is a food source for algae and will be naturally adsorped for growth. Chemical Nitrate Reduction - Adding NO3 reducing chemical or NO3 adsroption medias . Mechanical Nitrate Reduction - A good protein skimmer will be able to skim out DOC which in terms reduce NO3. Delibrate Bacterial Nitrate Reduction - Although using bacteria, I would say that this is a Natural process but a delibrate efforts by hobbyists to encourage the growth of certain bacetria to achieve low NO3. In this method, hobbyists uses carbon sources in various forms (pellets or liquid) either in a specially build reactor or dose directly into the tank. Hope that helps.
  2. I suspect your tank is still quite new and you have stock up too fast and thus your NO3 has sky rocketed. You need to stop addiing more livestock to let the beneficial bacteria catch up to the nutrients created by your existing livestock. Besides the above, you need to do more water changes to bring down the NO3 in order to keep your existing livestock happy. Failure to do so may mean loosing some of them. Hope that helps.
  3. You are fast Jon. This painting is being sold in a US site. Either the artist is a too bored or he is trying to be Michaelago. lol

  6. When you mentioned water parameters are ok, what do you mean? Have you tested PO4 and NO3?
  7. My pair of black ocellaris spawn every few week; most becomes food for corals, fishes, skimmer and also mechanical filtration. In order to have some survival, you may need to siphon some out when they hatch into a separate tank (8-10 days). If the eggs are adhered to a small rock than you can remove, you can remove them just hours before they hatch. Do not remove too soon as the eggs needs cleaning from the parents. I could not remove mine as they spawn on the glass at the back of my tank. And never have time to wait for them to hatch with all pumps and wavemakers off to siphon the fries. Hope you will have fun doing so. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2007/2/fish
