The reason why ALL carbon media will more or less leech PO4 is the manufacturing process. So dun me fooled when some brand claimed that their doesn't leeched, unless it is a totally new technology?!?

It doesn't. So far there isn't a cleaner crew that have been proven to prevent or control ich. According to an article in Advance Aquarist mag, ich is not found in the ocean but only in captive systems for some reasons no one knows. As such, it naturally is not something that cleaner crews will recognized as food. I have skunk cleaners shrimp, blood shrimp, neon goby, yellow arrow shrimp, common cleaner wrasse in my tank - and never have I once observe them feeding on the ich. What I belive the cleaners fed on are dead tissuses and some other parasites that occurs naturally in the oceans thus the cleaners can recognize and feed on them. Coming back to my tank, if any of the cleaners works, alot of us will not be struggling with ich and millions of dollars will not be pour into the research on a effective reef-safe medications for ich. Actually come to think about it, even the no effective reef-safe medication for ich is also a $$$ spinners!

I like that place! Are you affected by the Tsunami? Sad to hear such a catastophe can happens so near to us. Btw are you able to get marine livestocks that easily? I have tried to look for marine shop whenever I am in KL but the most presentable one I have been so far is the one in Ikea Damansara.

According to A.Calfo, most corals will feed on minute particals suuch as zooplankton or phytoplankton. This is because most large pieces will be eaten by fishes even before it reach the corals. But i must say that in order to do that i must place the sun near a powerhead so that the current will carries the particulate food to it. By the way, which part do you stay? North, Central or South (right next to us)

I have them too but as I am a fan of Anthony Calfo who preaches a more natural way of feeding them - I will mix powdered zoo plankton with water and pour it into my tank nightly so that all my corals including the suns will capture their 'food' directly from the water column. At first I was worried that they will not survive but its been 4mths and they still open nightly at the same time expecting to be fed.

I think you are the first newbie that have shown planning, patience, good knowledge and judgement! Most of the newbies I encountered are those that buy tank, buy livestocks bring home and set-up. When fishes dies, that's when they will start looking around for answers. Like the well thought power supply panel. Hope to have one too but no lobang.

once ich infected gills, it is very critical liao. cuz soon you will see it swimming against current to get teh current to push in more oxygen as the gills are "blocked" liao. you can try hyposalinity but chances is pretty slim. anyway, good luck!

There is no diffrence in getting LR from a friend and getting LR from the LFS. It does not speed up your cycling process.
