  1. You can use your current tank provided your tank maker is willing to help you silicon additional pieces of glass to form partition for the sump. If not, less than $60 you can get one done liao. Both skimmer should be able to handle. However, i preference is still to the Remora due to the reputation plus the re-sale value.
  2. Roidan is keeping Archilles Tang Acanthurus achilles one of the more difficult species. Tang are strong and fast swimmer and thus needs the space to swim if not they tends to loose color, stunted growth and die. Even the smallest tang (Ctenochaetus tominiensis) when fully grown can reach 13cm. Thus for 2ft tank it is not adviseable. In fact, in Reef Central the reccomended minimum size is 4ft.
  3. Different Strokes for Different Fokes! When I first help one of my best friend set-up his 2ft tank. Weipro was rated very well, it was supposed to be the cheapest decent skimmer able to churn out thick dark skimate. At that time, I remembered even threads comparing Weipro skimate with well established brands like H n S, Aqua C etc. I have previously help a couple of good friends set-up small little 2ft tanks in their dormatory and have been happy with Weipro until recently when I help install a 2nd hand Aqua Medic Bio Flotor for another room-mate whose Weipro although functioning well was not suitable in his room due to size. Although the Bio Flotor was rated humbly as compared to the Weipro, it out performed the bigger Weipro in term of bubbles size, skimate collected and even the frequency of water changes. After he told me that, I did a slight experiment by place both skimmer side by side for a week and realized that the Bio Flotor pick up much more than the Weipro which all of us know is much bigger and consumme much more electricity Being a consumer, it is very hard for us to gauge which skimmer or any other skimmer is better until we have tried it personally in the same environment, setting and condition. As such, I will always reccommend reefers to get a skimmer that fit their budget and at the same time made by a reputable company even if they have to get it 2nd hand. Cus there is lots of minors details that some company will never be able to fully copy!
  4. Bro, yesterday? Bo Jiu..... Anyway, nice additions! Let me know if you intend to Frag them!
  5. No worries mate! Without the AT, I may still be dabbling with Clowns and such. With the AT, I have grown and learn lots of stuffs I have previously taken for grunted. With the AT, I have also made lots of friends who wants to know how I have done it. And also lots of friends like you and Weileong to know how I could have done it better! Come to think about it I should thank your AT for it, maybe one day I should Tar Pao some Ocean Nutrition Pellets for it.
  6. Hehehe, after you post that, I am sure you will receive lesser help liao.... Know what I mean....
  7. As per the above, planning to add one garden eel in my DSB fuge. Where can I find them? TIA
  8. Good one Seamonkee, I will remember to quite that when me am my wife have the same discussion! Btw, for me, my wife goes around looking at fishes in LFS or even fellow reefers place and when she spots one that she likes - I am in trouble liao. That's why I have an AT in my tank now, we went to Roidan's place and she had a crush on the AT and ......... we all know the kind of troubles I went to to ensure in maintain an AT for her to see.
  9. If you have a minmum tank size of 3ft you can consider a Kole Tang. They are good in controlling filamentous algae. But you should look into the root of your problem rather than depending of the livestocks to control them. Cuz whatever goes in must comes out, which means the Kole poops are also good source of nutritents to your algae. I believe your current livestocks are already feeding of some of the algae just that the algae being a pests grows faster than what they can eat. Thus the solution always boils down to good Nutritent Export through a good skimmer and Not Overfeeding.
  10. Agree with Strat and Pangz, I cast my vote on DE. Pricing wise, I feel that it is genuine pricing, I have done a couple of DIYs before together with a friend who knows electricity and thus know a little about the cost involved. I always believe, "When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys". Recently, I got him to do up my Hood, re-wiring and some re-piping. From this incident, I can see that he is one guy that will help in whatever ways he can. What happened was when he was doing my repiping, we realized that there is a small leak in one of the joint below the tank which was not even part of the re-piping works he is doing for me. He could have just leave or refer me to a tank maker to resolve the problem. Even the leak was very minor, one drop every 1 minute. I still could not sleep well even Dr Evil left my house at 12.50am the night before! It was 8+am and I woke up to check on the leak and also to surf SRC while I think of how I could fix the leak. Suddenly, I receive a call from him. Apparently, he also could not sleep and was thinking of ways to help me solve the problems. I felt so touch and decided to try to find ways to repay him for his kindness. After going through waht we should do and setting appointment to fixed up the leak. Ifinally come out will a solution, I told him that I have a budget of $250 for him to do up the leak, get me a Fluidized Reactor & install it. In my mind I was thinking of getting the cheapest FR of all the Resun and guess what I got in the end............. Reef Maniacs! He could have made more $$$ but getting the Resun but he stood to quality and get me the RM. On the actual day, he came promptly and sorted my leak done up everything to my satisfaction. All in all we spend almost 4hrs doing it. Think about it, is he overcharging? I think not. Anyway, the above is my experience with Dr Evil. I will definitely put him in my first choice list of supplier whom I can depend on.
  11. Whether it is quiet or noisy diferrent poeple have different perceptions, it is subjective. Unless we can get a Noise Meter to measure accurately the decibels produced by the different Brands. So Weileong or Roidan, can get hold of one? I dun mind letting you guys measure my CL650.
  12. Another reader of FAMA! Seems like for tilted towards Fresh water. Good infor nevertheless! Thanks!
  13. Brown filamentous algae are not Cyano. Cyano are red in color thus the nick Red Slime, they are not algae thus will not be affected by cutting down of photo-period. The only way to control cyano is to have good skimmer and good circulation of the current. Brown filamentous algae are present due to many resons such as poor nutrient export, over feeding and also poor circulation of current. Try reducing your feed and get a proper skimmer.

Overall I must really thank Dr Evil for helping me with my leaky tank! All of us know, Dr Evil is specialized in lighting and he could have just leave it to me to solve the problem myself. But I think he pity me as someone on technically incline and decided to help. Anyway, back to the Wessbond. Although it is not colored purple like some brand but for the price, I feel that it is well worth the money!

Before we Wessbond the leak, we first silicon the leak.

The Product without the packaging. Green outside and white inside, just cut and start kneading unlike those that are two seperate compound.

Hi Reefers, As per agreed, Dr Evil came to my place on Saturday to seal up the leak. So here's the step my step pictogram. First of all the leak. It came from the gasket, joining the two pipes. Why the gasket is there in the first place - only god knows.
