  1. Hi des, i think you better PM the moderators to re-size your image.... too big liao. If not, wait kena warning.
  2. According the A. Calfo in the Book of Coral Propagation, "Reef invertebrates are known to tolerate a range of pH from 7.3 to more than 9.0."
  3. Sorry Limssg is the first that responded. Will post again if not collected.
  4. Go to Clementi Florist at block 328 Clementi, they usually have ample stocks. It would be good to keep them in shade. You can read about how I do it at our sponsor - Marine Life's forum. Cheers,
  5. Actually acryllics are the prefer material for tank due to the fact that the true colours of the corals. Glass unless it is the super expensive Starphire glass, tends to be tinted in some ways or another that blocks the colours. Thus when you see the colours of your corals from the top of the aquarium vs from your tank glass you will find there is a great different. In fact acryllics are the prefered materials used by big commercial aquariums and also oversea reefers. Only in Singapore, we chose glass due to the fact that we 'chor lor' afraid we scratch the acryllics.
  6. Additonal Info: Atman 105 - flowrate 3000l/h 2 missimg suckers Atman 104 - flowrate 2000l/h
  7. Venturi for a smal set-up, my personal favorite is AquaMedic BioFlotor. Super efficient in terms of performance vs electrical consumption.

Did not actually time how long, cuz after we patched the leak, we left for lunch and cheong LFS. Came back already concrete hard liao. Read on the label, it can be used under water.
  13. Great work Muar Chee, I couldn't have done it any better!
  14. Wah bro, part of the good things in this hobby is doing your own reading and research rather than asking for instant information. Anyway, the ocean have so many differents species of fishes and in the individual species they have sub-families and thus it is not possible to compile every at one go. Generally speaking all butterflies, and angels are considered non reef-safe. Just to whet your appetite, here's a link to one reef-safe species. Fairy Wrasse
  15. Its going to be a mass burial ground soon.
  16. OIC. So you mean it is a entry level skimmer??? And after we progress in our hobby, we will have to save up for another skimmer??? That's not very effective isn't it??? Anyway, its up to the individual lah. we can discuss until the cow comes home we will still not be able to come out with a conclusion cause none of us have the equipments, labs or even authorithy to conclude which skimmer is good and which skimmer is bad.
  17. Hi, I have a nano-reef tank with 4 False Percula, an agressive False Gramma & a Gold-belly Damsel with 3 corals (Octopus, Jewel and Sun) and a fan worm. The lighting I used currently on my 2-ft tank is an 18" Marine Blue Light and Arcadia Marine White Light. Somehow, I find it a bit dim, thought it could be brighter. Should I replace the Marine Blue Light with a Freshwater White Light (which I had previously when I kept a planted freshwater tank)? By the way, I find the Freshwater White Light much brighter than the Marine White Light. You can do so or change it to a light from a better brand such as Coralife or Arcadia - they have something called Reef Sun or something that are brighter. Did anyone made a comparison on the light spectrum/intensity of these 2 lights? Check our Arcadia or Coralife sites they have the spectrum listings On Water Movement, Currently the only thing that causes water movement is the returning pipe (from external filter) placed across the tank with tiny holes returning the filtered water. I would like to put in a powerhead. Is there any optimal position to place the powerhead? Not really as long as it is blowing to a large area. I'm alternating phyto with zooplankton in feeding my corals? Is that the usual practice? According to A. Calfo, most corals feeds on Zooplankton with some exception. Most of us feed phytoplankton to cater to the overall diversity and also to the pods, rotifers or even some micro-organism in the tank. How do I get my Sun Coral to display its bright yellow tentacles fully? When the lights are switched on, the tentacles are not displayed but when I switch off the lights, it starts to show a little. Are they nocturnal? Yup they are nocturnal and requires regular feeds of Zooplankton at around the same time daily to encourage extention of polyps. Also, having a power head blowing twoard it from afar will only help in bring whatever food particles to it since they can't move by themself. Thanks in advance for answering my questions. Your welcome. Felix (new to the hobby)
  18. "How do I know my tank is cycled?" A tank is considered "cycled" when repeated tests for ammonia and nitrite read 0 ppm. The time it takes to cycle a tank depends on a number of factors, so the only way to know for certain is to test for ammonia and nitrite (NO2). It is important to test for several days to make certain that your tank is cycled. It is possible for ammonia and nitrite to read 0 ppm on one day, and then appear in significant amounts the next day due to increased waste or decomposition in the tank. As for NO3 its should be kept below 20 ppm. So i guess you have done bro! Congrats, but please stock slowly from now on - 1.5 weeks per livestock.
  19. Actually the idea of having 2 skimmer is now being tried out by some brothers here, I have previously tried it a couple of times and realized that this will also shows flaws in certain skimmer commonly rated as good. Coming back to the macro, I am not sure about its quality cuz I have not used it before. But the strange things is that you can find lots of them selling in the Pasar Malam - why? If it is so good why sell to upgrade to another more expensive skimmer? If it can operate well with just a change of pump why didn't these brothers change the pump? I personally know one who have recently upgrade to a $800+ skimmer and selling off the macro and he only owns a 4ft FOWLR, why? The jury is out there.......
  20. Wah scary man if Rio can be used for Beckett, means prices of becketts will start tumbling.
  21. But the Artica is till in your front line right?
  22. I have first hand exprience too. But anyway, we are here to provide different views so that Yiling will be able to make the correct decision. As i have mentioned earlier [certain features in the more reputable skimmers can not be copied one] one such example is the spray injector of the Aqua C.
  23. Bro, Maybe can check whether your resourceful friend have it?
