  1. Hehehe, I enquired before and fell off my chair (literally).
  2. I have tried Aquaz parabolic reflector and found that they are well worth the $$$ due to the fact that they are slightly thicker and dun tarnish as compared to another brand I used previously. As for the tubes, I believe its value for $$$ but dun compare it with the German ones which cost 2 times more. For me, I use 2 tubes of DD and 2 tubes of Aquaz.
  3. That's correct bro! But I believe most that went BB are those that embraces Zeovit as well and they have the results to show. What worries me are those that go BB without Zeovit. I dunno but I from my limited knowledge BB without Zeovit is just Berlin. And I can still remembers Berlin days whereby most of us struggles with NO3. Correct me if I am wrong, I am ignorant sometimes.
  4. Actually anyone ever wonder why most Public Aquariums are still using Plenums? And why FAMA magazine still have one dedicated section called Sand Mail by Bob Goeman? I believe the natural filtration methods still holds water! Just that it may not be the flavour at this moment in Singapore.
  5. You will be surprised. I always thought that pH swings are minors until I bought a pH monitor. If I will you, I will get a quieter skimmer if its in my bedroom so that I don't have to off my skimmer at night. HTH
  6. I personally preferred the Aqua C due to ease of use and high resale value. HTH
  7. Then just ID which LR most of them comes from and fresh water dip that LR loh. If really very pissed, you can even bake that #$#@^ rock under the sun! But your tank can still carry on. HTH
  8. only way is to catch the worms when they comes out or simply soak your LRs in fresh water. As for the pods, you can keep them at bay just by adding a Mandarin. But for me, I will ignore the worms and just introduce the Mandarin. HTH
  9. Not really. There are several factors deteremining the efficiency of skimmers but till now they have not been conclusive studies on it. Below is the respond from Roger Vitko (Tunze USA) when asked to compare Tunze with Deltec: "Skimmers just vary too much to really make these comparisons feasible, depending on design skimmers pull out different organic compounds at different rates, one might be incredibly efficient for albumin and another trumps it at cellulose removal. Just too many variables to have any real meaningful comparisons." HTH
  10. You may soak in vinegar if its calcium deposit. If not general scrubbing will do. Just push and pull out the external strainer then unscrew the impellor housing will do. Very easy. However be carefull will the impellor shaft as they are easily broken due to the fact that they are made with ceramic. HTH.
  11. Well you may be right. Anyway, my chain of thoughts is coming from original made high flow pumps vs the China/Taiwan made followers products. The original products tends to run cooler based on the same specs.
  12. Yup, you have guess it. Just remove the impellor and give it a good scrub and all will be fine. Unless its damaged. Most of the time if your pump have left dry for some time the impellor tends to get stuck. Anyway, if you buy any new pumps, you will also notice that the Manufacturers will coat the impellor magnet with a film of oil. So that's why I usually will clean and coat the impellor with some lubricant if I plan to store them. I had previously wanted to sell to a new reefer a Seio620 which I have left with another of my friend. But because my friend did not use it and left the Seio to dry up without cleaning and oilling, I was mistaken as a cheater! That's when I decide to stop being the Mr Nice Guy. Or it could be the impellor is damage due to misuse, one common incident I have notice is when a flow pump is used in a high head enviroment such as a beckett skimmer, the impellor "bloated" and thus cannot spin normally. HTH
  13. Not really true. There are different factors contributing to the heat, it is not necessary due to the wattage. Like for example a pressure rated pump will generate more heat than a non-pressure rated one. But that does not means that the formal pump is inferior.
  14. The noise you are experiencing is due to the back pressure created by high head that most Asian-made pumps cannot handle. This causes them them vibrate and in the long run, looses its effeciency. Some pumps will also generate high heat when put in a high head environment. To me, the return pump is quite important and I will not play around with it. I am currently using Aquabee 3000. I believe Acidjazz is selling his brand new one at a super price of $155. You may one to contact him.
  15. Thats a Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto). Gramma belong to the basselet family. Dottybacks are a slightly different family liao. But then again, what is a Royal Dottybacks? Maybe he meant Bi-color Dottyback. Anyway I liao.
  16. Heard it is only available in the Bermuda Triangle! Super Rare Stuffs you got there Tineng! Its affectionately named "Chocolate Bar" by some experts in RC. I think Strat's bid is more realistic!
  17. No worries! Actually if you read the "About Us" you will be even more surprised, apparently he started this company due to some Singaporean placing orders with him.
  18. Just wanted to share this, China's answer to our hobby! Guess sooner or later it makes no sense to DIY liao.
  19. Just realized that our sponsor Reef Depot carries them. Hope to see some review soon. Apparently that guy in RC posted this in the Deltec forum http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...threadid=677523
  20. I think the first link did not come out well. Anyway here it is http://www.tunze.com/149.html?&L=1&C=SG&user_tunzeprod_pi1[predid]=-infoxunter028 Click on the Comline DOC Skimmer
  21. Was browsing www.tunze.com and stumble upon a new series of =-infoxunter028]skimmer. Did a serach in RC and came upon this thread. Anyone have any experience? Judging from the replies by Roger Vitko of Tunze USA, seems that this new kid is a good bet!
  22. Get from Yiling, he bought the chiller since March. I have seen his set-up before and can attest to it. Check it out.
  23. Thanks bro, reason why I posted here is hoping that some bros could help. Rather than me looking for outsider. As the Chinese saying "Fei2 Sui3 Bu4 Lang4 Wai4 Ren2 Tian2".
