If I am not wrong those just filtered on some bigger organic materials but will not be able to filter off Silicates and PO4 etc. That's why if you use a TDS meter to measure the filtered water it still ranges +-50, whereas RO/DI, DI or Distilled will be able to give you a TDS reading of +-0. Was told that the maximum tolerance for water to be used in Reef Tank should be kept below 20. For your info, tap water in my area measure 75 TDS!!!!
-
Hi Bro, The reason why we buy Distilled water is the same as why people invest on RO/DI or DI units, its to get almost pure water for mixing and top-up. Cuz, tap water contains many impurities that will contribute to the deterioration of our tank.
-
Maybe we can have a cheap Distilled Water Alert to let us know where to get the cheapest!
-
I heard about that and have tried to look for them at the Sheng Song in Seranggon North a few times but dun have leh. Anyway, if its $5 per carton, I will cheong there the next time. Btw, if its $5 per carton, that makes it $0.42 per btl!!!!!!
-
Wah lagi cheap! You sure its distilled water?!?!?! I tried going to Carefour and Sheng Song but nothing beats NTUC price. Seems like I missed Giant! Thank for the info bro.

Hi Alan, I did mentioned "Possibility". I understand where you coming from, in the sense that water that feeds to the skimmer must be direct from the overflow seperate from the return. Thus not possible to share the same. When I mentioned 3 applications, I meant 1 return T-off to FR, Chiller and Tank. I do believe that Needlewheel are able to take gravity feed from overflow without going thru a pump. We were just trying to explore the different possibilities available to nemo72. If you think you have better idea, please enlighten us. Hope that I am not accused of misleading new reefers again!

Dear Reefers, Just wanted to remind those that are coming this Saturday to bring your own containers and bags. If not............ I will just pack them in NTUC carriers. -
You try and let us know the results loh.
-
Find that this is the most appropriate forum to post as most Nano Reefers are here and most of you may buy distilled water for mixing and topping up. NTUC is having a promo on Distilled water, 1 Carton for $7.41. Which means its about $0.62 per bottle. Most of the time 1500l Distilled water is sold at $1.50. But heard it only for the month of November thus bros who wants to see what Distilled water can do to you system can try at a lower price liao. Bought 2 carton just now and saw another lady asking for 6 cartons!?!?!?! Wonder how she carry them? Maybe got 3 maids waiting in her car!

Wa! You have so many bean bags!!!!! I only have one. Anyway, I find that its quite normal for babies to be startled even at the slightest noise as they are trying to get use to the evironment. (many years of helping mum who is a baby sitter). As long as they don't get startled and wake up crying. I also dunno, just learn from those books loh. But there is one point, I will always massage. According to Chinese Physician, the acupoint at the shin 3-4 fingers (Baby's fingers) from the knee will improves the general health of the baby. HTH
-
Aiyo, you really solid! Can stand by the cot for almost 3 hours! For me, I will just show him my "middle finger"! No lar, joking nia. In the beginning we also encounter the same problem, what we do is just snuggle him tightly with pillows so that he feels more secure. After a couple of days ok liao.

New Update: * 1 x ###### Ear Abalone, 3.5" @$12. Healthy, good nuisance algae eater, selling cuz discovered several baby Abalones in my tank. "Wonder where they come from". Terms: Same as the first post. -
Agree with bro Fuel. Thats why I feel that the refractometer or the JBJ digital SG meter recently sold by Bio Ocean is pretty good. Especially the JBJ, it not only measure SG and Salinity, it also indicate the temperature so that you may make the necessary minor adjustment when necessary. It is through this equipment that I realize that the temperature in my mixing tub is pretty high due to the cheap pump I was using causing me to have inaccurate read.

Jaslyn: Actually, I was cautiously optimistic upon introducing him to the pool as its in a small condo and they dun have heating facility like the public pools. But was afraid that wife might stop me from doing it if I showed my concerns. So I just slowly dip him into the water by playing the "jumping" game i.e. I lower him into the water until his toes touches the water, then I shout jump and bring him swiftly up. To my surprise he like it and after several jumps, I can lower his whole body except for his head into the water. Princess: Wa, you still have the looks man! Keep it up, anytime soon liao.

If I am not wrong, he is commenting on the DOC Skimmer Classic is not reccommended for SPS dominated tanks and not the DOC Skimmer Comline. From what I know, the Classic are developed quite long ago catering for Soft Corals tanks which are in demand then. Since the late 90s as reefing choices increases and demand to have low nutrients environment becomes very common thus Tunze developed the new Comline product line. Maybe we should post this questions to Roger at RC so that he could clear our doubts once and for all. Or maybe Reef Depot will like to address this concern, I am sure there are many eyeing of this wonderful product from such a reliable company.

Hi Andylee, Its a greek name. Meaning: Wholesome / Safe
-
If keeping FOWLR, 1.020 OK. But for reef tank with corals, I will put my money on 1.025.
-
Another way is to ditch the beckett and get a needlewheel. Then you may possibilty of have one pump for 3 applications.

You ah.. Tekan me ah??? No lah, will not sell the blastos. Anyway, my Home Affairs Minister have just told me that she wanted to renovate part of the flat and wanted me to dismantle my tank soon. Got more stuffs on sale, dun have time to list all, those interested, please PM me for Sale & Viewing for this coming Saturday. Hope she cater in a new tank for me as well! -
Cannot lah, Red Dragon and OR not pressure rated. Using it for on a beckett with such high head is asking for trouble. If I were you, I may used a dedicated Iwaki MD55 for the beckett so as to get the optimum result. And a not pressure rated flow pumps (Sequence, RD, OR etc) for the others. HTH

No offense to you bro Kelmen. Had to make it clear to aquarix that I wasn't the one reccomending the 6 liners. I once was accuse of giving wrong info by a reefer. Like I stated, "There's more than one way to skin a cat". You may not be wrong with your suggestion.
