  1. i think the blue light is to simulate the moonlight, by switchin on or off your lights suddenly will shock your LS, and they will become stressed...
  2. if u dun cycle with your sump, ensure tat there is enuf water circulation in your sump....sea water is not sterile, so not running it will make it turn foul....like rotting food.....and by not running both together, there will be a slight risk of not having a balance in the water parameters of the tank and the sump....this should be easily corrected by running the sump for a few days prior to adding any LS....
  3. yah loh....a list of items with price....easier to sell....i spoke to u juz now, and found out that u stay so far from me...not viable for me to go all the way to your place juz to see wat u have mah.....thanks....

  9. wanna play must state skill level lah....if not i go liao, u say play $5/$10.....
  10. wah lau, kena diatom....think my water circultation not good enuf....the best part, i don't even have any fish in my tank now....only 1 turbo snail, 2 small snails and 1 coral band shrimp....only feeding my coral band a tiny pinch of flakes everyday.....change the phosguard and hoping to improve the situation.... will excessive phosguard cause any adverse reaction?? anyone can advise??
  11. do a search in the DIY forum....i had a thread with all the addresses and contacts...
  12. hi all....i am getting my MH soon....juz wondering if i use 6.5kk bulbs and add PL actinic, will my corals colour up? the PL actinic will be able to cover the yellowish light of the 6.5kk bulb but will it serve well enough to colour up the corals like a 20kk bulb??
  13. octopus bay....dun bluff us lah....u poured milk into the skimmer and say tat it is fine bubbles.....hahahahahaha how much for the spindle wheel pump alone??
  14. y do u need to leave the fishes in the old tank?? move them altogether lah....into your new tank....i suggest u cycle the sand in the new tank 1st, then shift all existing LR and LS and corals together into their new home....

  17. bro, can't see your kalk reactor in the pic....too dark....does your kalk reactor use a PH to circulate the water?? i am quite lousy at tat, nvr seem to be able to make it water tight....
  18. check valves are not 100% fool-proof....the water will still flow back into the sump, juz at a slower rate.... the best solution will be to get a bigger sump.
  19. my evaporation rate is about 3-5ltrs a day, so i presume 3-5ltrs of water will be activated to stir the kalk to produce the clear solution....i know constant stiring(like a kalk reactor) will be most appropriate but poor man here....so have to do it this way..... any comments???
  20. note: greyish dots represents kalk the pump/powerhead will be connected to a tubby....when the tubby is at work (topping up), the water will be pumped into the bottle at the bottom, causing the the kalk to stir a little...the water will overflow from the top of the bottle and hopefully only the clear solution, and not the undissolved kalk...the bottle used will be as tall as possible...probably a 1.5ltr pepsi bottle...if not i might use this kind of bottle
  21. hi all, poor man here...juz tot of an idea while topping up my tank...
