temperature is too high...maybe your t5 have lost its intensity...try placing them directly under the lights... as for temperature, can use fan if u are on a budget...my tank uses 1Xprofantic fan, currently temperature remain below 27...but during the hot spells, it will go up to 28+...

with such a big tank (2.5ft tall, i think it will at least be 4ft in length), may i ask y are u using a overhead filter? are u sure it can handle the bio load??

if u compare head loss, eheim will be a better choice...if it is to run a skimmer, then can an extrema should be alright...but if it is as return, then eheim will be better...

other than space constraint the other problem will be electricity (not considering a beckett skimmer)...by running 2 pumps for 2 skimmers, y not convert to a big H&S or big AquaC?
