  1. forgot to add... 2ft cube with around 10 X 1inch fishes...chromis, blennies, wrasse, flame angel and some other fishes...cannot remember... how bout some thick foam on the collection cup cover...handphone sold seperately...
  2. two days of skimming his 2ft cube tank... kopi anyone??
  3. bad bad thing to run my 1st set in Reeflobang's tank...no review nothing...hai.... so have to do it myself... after 1 day of breaking in...another day for tuning...this is wat my brother manage to get...fine bubbles and thick foaming...
  4. so far my corals are ok...but i try not to put too much corals on the sand bed loh...let the more precious corals enjoy the MH tanning...those mushrooms and zoo dun care one lah...hahahaha show some pics of your skimmer leh...
  5. just get a 3 X 2 X 2... with a wider width with u will get a more scaping variety....it will look damn good too... if u go for 2.5ft, u might have to consider 250W MH...and when u wanna place corals on your sand bed or when something drop onto your sand bed, u have to prepare to dive...
  6. Lotsa LRs will help... 2011 is definitely too small...get a better skimmer...spend more on skimmer and it will spare u from headaches...corals? wat kind are u talking bout? LPS SPS?? better to start of with simple ones like mushrooms and zoo...they usually won't die unless something drastic happens and they are cheap too...
  7. 4 x 2 x 2 looks good....that's the size of my next upgrade... blast it with 2 X 250W... if u are thinking of upgrading...do at least a month of research...look around and see wat other reefers are doing and see if u can handle the equiptment upgrades 1) skimmer 2) lights 3) temperature problem 4) wave makers 5) sand (not a big issue) 6) amount of LRs (big big issue) 7) other future equipts like CR, FR, watever...
  8. the MH itself is not heavy...but the ballast are...each weighs about 3-5kg i think... get a tank hood as well, will help u block away the glare from the MH which can be very very irritating...
  9. for a 4ft tank, i think the simplest is at least 2 X 150W....dun have to hang it on the ceiling, just get a simple DIY stand kind...Dr Evil can help u with it... IMO, since your tank is only 6mm thick, i dun think u should have too much LRs, very dangerous.... if u are thinkin of getting MH, get those with external ballast, dun think u wanna stress your tank as it is only 6mm... another thing i noticed, u are using cannister...better if u have a sump, better filtration system... i wonder wat kind of corals do u intend to keep, LPS SPS or just softy?? if u are thinkin of softies, y not just T5??u can even keep LPS with t5...it won't generate as much heat as MH... doesn't seem like u have a chiller, so better option would be t5... oh yah, upgrade your skimmer too... read up more on the husbandry of keeping corals, it should help...
  10. are u referring to the yeast method?? i did it before when i was doing my planted tank as well...but as i mentioned earlier, CR are pressurised units...so the pressure in the coke bottle might not be able to withstand the pressure from the feeding pump...so the sea water might feed into your coke bottle instead of your tank....u might wanna consider that as well... with lotsa fine tuning, it should work the same, but y not omit 1 trouble when u already have lotsa other things to fine tune (like the effluent rate, bubble count) just my opinion....
  11. apply more of the pvc pipe glue day by day...from my experince, pvc pipe glue will form a thick layer of hard resin once dried...so by appying a layer each day will reinforce the join...but it also means that there's no way u can dismantle it next time... next time when u are joining pipes like tat, apply the glue on the pipe and also the internal of the pipe fitting...as u are joining them together, instead of pushing it straight in, twist it and push it in slowly..this will ensure that all the contact area will be filled with the pvc glue...i learnt this from benz...and it is really very very effective..apply more glue that u require, any excess just wipe off with tissue...
  12. weipro is considerably good for that kind of price...but it is not really advisable... 2012 for your 4ft tank is a little too small...but if u are on a real tight budget, u might wanna consider using this skimmer and have very very little fish + very very little feeding... maybe around max of 5 small fishes and perhaps go to the limit with 1 big one...but anything more than that, corals might have a little problem... i am a sinner with no skimmer in my tank...but i only have 1 blue cheek goby, 1 bi-colour blenny and 2 clown gobies and 1 rainfordi goby and 1 scooter blenny...all of them are less than 1inches except for the blue cheek...so far my corals doing ok (cannot consider well because some stil die off)...another important thing is that i only feed once in 2 days, half a cube of brine shrimp each...
  13. since u are a begginner, think u better try other hardier stuffs 1st... investments into SPS is huge...and dun think u wanna have any mishaps... according to SPS experts, SPS do better in mature tanks...i have no idea wat they mean by mature tanks but i believe it means mature DSB (at least 6mths), mature rocks, and basically a mature system...
  14. wah...so high?? lotsa work this weekend...
  15. it depends mainly on type and size...i think maxi are more expensive while cro are usually cheaper...the colour / texture is also a major influence... of course your relationship with the LFS owner too... hehehehehe
  16. perhaps u might wanna take a look at the DIY CR tat are available in singapore...i dun think it will be considered as copying as u still came out with the idea of using a Resun FR....the rest of the pipings are quite similar throughout the brands that are available...the diagram that u posted already show what's required...so u can simply follow it... but beware, CR are a little pressurised during operation, so u MUST ensure that all joints and pipes are leak proof...
  17. okok...then i'll be the selfish one...go alone..hahahah....will call u tonight to arrange...
  18. bro, tomolo will u be free? evening time...me and vinoth...i will check with flub and terence as well...thanks..
  19. 50 is really high...i suggest tat u dun waste money to get a new testkit...spend the money on salt...change your water...i mean do a water change... nitrate affects all corals.. try not to dose anything that u dunno...like trace elements..i ban myself from it cos i overdosed it...i simply dose kalk everytime i top up my water...that's all..no other additives...
  20. i am going over tomolo...hehehehe...with ah jie...we are going LCK 1st...anything u want us to update u??
  21. eeeeiiiii.... looks like a snake to me... dun keep anything tat u didn't intend to have...better throw away...
  22. congrats bro...after so much frustration with those irritatin pple...hahahaha... and congrats to your corals too...gonna suffer like hell without lights...hahahaha
  23. he is using a normal china pump...2400ltr only...now got a new rio3100...3000ltr...still running the test in my house...
