  2. hi all....for those who are interested , pls call 90024001 instead, robin here...the MH is now in my house in woodlands, opposite admiralty MRT....so don't haf to bother jazzben juz call me.... currently melvin has the 1st priority, he will be viewing it on thursday 8pm.if he doesn't turn up or he chooses not to buy, i'll put it on a 1st come 1st serve basis....thanks for the interest....
  3. a picture says a thousand words....
  4. dun waste money on PL or T5....go direct to MH!!!
  5. hi all, anyone has extra to sell? dead rocks also can...pls pm or reply on thread....thanks....
  6. very sianz.....the nudi is very well camo in the zoo, especially my green one....i rather juz take out the zoo and stop have zoo....too much trouble....i'm juz worried if it attacks any other corals like hammers frogspawns and torches....
  7. juz curious, since flower pots can survive and usually survive in lousy water condition, y issit so difficult to maintain them?? RAV, don't feed to much planktons as they add to your bio-load as well, think u should know this too....
  8. wat AT said is quite true....unless u are worried that good stuffs like planktons might get skimmed off...maybe u can try target feeding and at the same time switch of your skimmer when feeding corals.....this way food won't be wasted also....
  9. hey ricky, thanks for the thread but i think it seems different....in the thread it says the nudi feeds on anemones but mine feeds on zoos....any other experts can help??
  10. actually it all depends on individual....some pple don't like DSB in the main tank so they bring it into the sump.... the "nitrate-factory" thing is true but having a good skimmer should solve the problem as less dissolved organic compound can be converted to ammonia to nitrite to nitrate.... ammonia and nitrite affects the fishes and other LS and the nitrate mainly affects the corals.....so if u are having only a FOWLR tank than don't worry about nitrate too much....
  11. hi all, i juz shifted all my LS into my new tank and noticed this nudibranch in my tank, about 4-5 on the glass and after close scrutiny, show about 20-30 of them on each of my 2 pieces of zoos.... read in one of the thread that by removing the zoos and starving all of them to death will help..... i haf removed the zoos but will the remaining nudi attack my mushroom?how long should i keep it zoo free before adding new zoos? wat do these nudi pest eat? wat other kind of corals will they attack?? wat kind of fish or watever help to exterminate them???
  12. hey bro, i think the spread will be good enuf for a 4ft tank, hang it a little higher above the water surface loh....the light is really good and price too....but hai.....i dun have the money and a chiller, if not....
  13. to be on the safest side, leave it for a mth....i know its tempting but i dun think u wanna kill any fishes rite?? y not add 2 more prawns to spike the ammonia? wait till your prawn completely dissolve.... LR from fellow reefers definitely helps coz its got lotsa bacteria already, but wat about your sand? gotta give them time to grow bacteria too....
  14. PL is definitely not enuf for clams....i won't even suggest T5, go straight of MH....but with MH comes the temperature problem....my bro-in-law is using a single 150W MH and cooling with fan...so far temperature remains around 28-29degreeC with apparently his LPS can live with...richer reefers will definitely use MH with chiller but pple like us on tighter budget will have to use fan...and with fan, comes the topping up problem....hahaha....sianz.....i top up 3ltrs of water everyday with a drip, tell me about being troublesome....no choice unless u can afford a tubby(i think its $140).....but since your tank is only 2ft, it can be quite dangerous as the salinity might increase drastically....
  15. good... anyway my flower pot not opening leh....dunno y....dun open since i move it to my new tank.... all parameters same as last time... anyone can help??
  16. hi all, i've juz set up my new 3ft tank...juz got my MH too, 2X150W, intending to switch it on for only 4hrs per day and about another 5hrs of 2 X 39W PL, becoz of electricity bill and also temperature....i cannot afford a chiller...i am only running a fan and so far the temperature remains around 27.5degreeC with only PL on....will try to run the MH tomolo to see the temoerature intending to keep the following... 1) 1 x hammer, green tip (at least 6 inches wide) 2) 1 X frogspawn, pink tip(at least 6inches wide) 3) 2 X pulsing xenia 4) 2 X turtle weed 5) 1 X orange monti (at least 3inches wide) 6) 2 X bamboo algae 7) 2 X coco worm (1 white, 1 red) 8) 1 X flower pot (green) 9) 3 X mushies (green + orange yumas) 10) 2 X bubbles juz wondering if the corals can withstand temperature of maybe around 28-29degreeC?pls advise thanks....
  17. well dry up the tank and apply silicon loh....u may wanna hire a tank maker to do it for u....they have better quality silicon.... if not buy a new tank will also do...
  18. basically the bio balls and the ceramic rings have bacteria that converts ammonia to nitrite than to nitrate... ammonia and nitrite is harmful to fishes, they clog up their blood and in turn they will have less oxygen in their blood and thus the heavy breathing occurs.... nitrate on the other hand affects corals.... the high nitrate level is due to the bioballs and ceramic rings, so by removing them, u will lessen the rate of ANN(ammonia to nitrite to nitrate) conversion.... the bad thing about have lesser bio balls and ceramic rings is that the ammonia will not be converted fast enuf and so will the nitrite....but if u haf a powerful skimmer, then u dun haf to worry coz most of the dissolved organic compound will be skimmed off.... my advise is, if u want to remove the bio ball and ceramic rings, do it very slowly....maybe 10% per week, juz in case u get ammonia spike....and of coz use a very good skimmer....reduce feeding will also help....but that applies if u are having corals, if its juz a FOWLR tank than leave them inside loh....
  19. juz finished reading AT's winning post.... wah i think the most difficult part of reef keeping is not the SPS, its the compostion/essay tat u haf to write if u manage to win like what our Tow Kay did..... Boss, your english very powderful ar!!!
