hermit i doubt that the screw will be able to withstand the weight of a 3ft tank.... the important part i would say is the center of the stand...u should reinforce the center instead.... y not reinforce the horizontal wrought iron instead? dunno how to explain to u, maybe when we meet up then we discuss further... i think by placing the wood this way, if your WIS gives way or loosens, it will stress the tank even more.... just my 2 cents worth...

thc, how many skimmers u have?? i can see 2-3 in all leh.... u sell commercial units as well?? the H&S replica at the back seems cool....any review on that product??

how come one mazzei is positioned before pump and the other is after pump?? i believe mazzei produce fine enough bubbles, no point having it before the pump....u will lose lots of power in the pump, thus it might affect the performance of the mazzei.... or does it prove to be better?? pls advise...thanks....

the best bet is to mimic wat kind of equipments senior reefers are using....of course, this means that your wallet must be filled with notes, credit cards also can.... there's no single advise to sucess....most reefers learn it the hard way....thru hard knocks and severe headache, of course heartache as well....

the chio chio hood with me liao lah...i took over the tank with the hood....but then again, i sold the hood at a lost cos i managed to get a lighter hood for free.... go for MH....it is not as terribly hot as most reefers think....with good air circulation between the MH and the water surface, the increase in water temperature is not tat bad.... i'm running a single 150W with no chiller....when MH is off (1 fan running) water temperature is less than 27, with MH on (2 fans running) temperature is still less than 27....but if that is now lah, after the heat waves..... during the heat wave period 3weeks back, my tank was running up to 30 (sometimes more) with MH on....without MH on it was slightly less than 30....well at least i now have 1yr's time to save money for a chiller...b4 the next heat wave comes.....

weipro?? i really doubt that it is a good skimmer...but then again, i've seen great skimmate from it....mine skims like a whim....useless...sold it away cheaply...

anyway, how come u continue running your skimmer when u are cycling?? i forgot to ask u tat day at your place.... if u think cycling complete liao then change water loh...but i doubt so leh....even if your rocks are LRs from old tanks, your 120kg of sand still need time mah....y u take out the prawn?? leave it inside until it totally dissolve loh....

to be frank, jebo sucks.... i would rather u save the money and buy more LR....and forget about mechanical filtration.... but on the other hand....u might wanna invest on at least a weipro skimmer....not very expensive and also not very good as well....but if u are on tight budget than i think this is the best choice... 2ft tank with 8fishes?? hhhhmmmm....a little over stock....unless u are thinkin of 8 damsels....any other fishes will be too big..... for a 2ft tank, i recommend 4-5 small fishes to keep them happy....have a few shrimps and snails and hermit crabs, to give your tank more live...

good idea...all we know is that for a beckett to work to its optimal, at least a md55 should be used....but no one can show how well a beckett will work under other pumps that are not pressure rated....hope to see results soon....it will certainly benefit lots of us who are on lower budgets...

hhhmmmm.....joe, i guess since u are into beckett skimmers, y not u help us do a little test?? i believe there are reefers with small tanks and low bio load but still intend to use a beckett....but due to the electicity consumption of md55, decide not to.... if a beckett can run with a md40, perhaps it won't perform as good as with a md55, but at 80W performs better than other skimmers of the same electricity consumption....
